Thread 2!

As previously, if you spot a link in the OP links isn’t working/no longer in date, please let me know by posting in bold so I can easily see to update Thanks

I couldn't give a shit about bargains being 'ripped off' but don't pretend a page doesn't belong to you ... because that really does make me think something dodgy is going on.

That page was started very recently. Almost all the deals come directly from here.

Daddykyller has linked to it twice that I know of (maybe more) and the second link I saw was worded like an 'advert'.

I refuse to click through to it now. If your going to make money or 'perks' off my clicks - at least be honest about it

Reastie · 18/06/2014 19:27

OK, shall I end the argument with my twopence worth which probably tbh isn't worth much ?

This thread started just with me asking if anyone had seen any good deals for Christmas present ideas online. It has kind of spawned into a huge life of it's own! I didn't ever envisage the amount of office politics that would creep in or often, or feeling like I'd have rules to give and it's not the kind of thread I'd like to give rules to (and also I'm aware I'm sounding like it's 'mine' when anyone could do this really I'm just the only one stupid enough to Grin ). It's a lovely little community and seeing people coming back again feels a bit like meeting old friends in a weird way.

IMO people come here to share any good find they have seen. It's a friendly thread. I don't give every user on the OP credit, and I don't think people expect me to. Similarly I don't think people necessarily expect to be told who they got the product/link from. It becomes a bit ridiculous if everyone feels like they need to say the origin of every code or link.

Obviously I know this thread is open to everyone and lots of people might see it who aren't mners, but I'd like to think generally this is a thread for mners by mners (at the risk of sounds cheesy!). It would be nice to think people weren't copying everything from here onto other fb groups, but I'm realistic, this might happen. I'm also realistic that links here come from the very same sources. I must say though I am quite naive about the whole world of fb bargain groups etc so I'm not sure about the culture on these types of pages.

Of course we all have a vested interest not to share and tell everyone everything as it works out shops/suppliers all run out/stop the offers and glitches too quickly (I wonder just how many people tried to order that Murad deal last year!!). Although at the same time we rely on people telling us things so it's a double edged sword.

In conclusion of this essay (which may be hugely x posted as started it over half an hour ago) I say we stay as we are, a nice friendly bunch sharing links and info for each other when we find it to have a happier and bargainous Christmas and worry not about other pages and politics of what comes from where and who said what.

Peace and goodwill to all men and peace on earth and all that.

deep breaths into a paper bag and carrying on...

I've just come across (completely on my own :p and I wont be sueing anyone who shares it on their fb group or website lol)

this item on amazon:

Trade Mark Collections Moshi Monsters Novelty Backpack £4.45
(51% off, with £2.95 for deliver)

Reastie · 18/06/2014 19:30

OK, so the concern is also about mn users making money from putting a link on this page? Is that it? . If that is the case (I'm not saying it is, I have no idea about these things) surely that's a matter for mnhq and something if you think this is happening to contact them about to look into??

OP posts:
daddykyller · 18/06/2014 19:39

If there's a way to make money posting here then I'm sure everyone wants to know how lol

Reastie · 18/06/2014 19:45

So can we just go back to normality now after that please?

HaveYouHeardOfGoogle · 18/06/2014 19:49

Bloody hope so Grin

SpottyTeacakes · 18/06/2014 19:57

No, I'm offended that you haven't acknowledged me Reastie SadGrin

WisemansBridge · 18/06/2014 20:00

Well said reastie

(I was here last year under another name and saved loads from these threads. I will forever associate certain things I.e finger lights with last years threads, I wonder what the bargain thread must haves will be this year - bird houses?)

Great essay Reastie! Thanks I love this thread :).

JaquelineHyde · 18/06/2014 20:07

Oh Goth if you are going to throw your toys out of the pram and flounce then please do it quietly.

Lurk and take advantage of the deals as much as you want, that's why we post them.

Most of us don't expect any kind of gratitude or praise for finding deals and sharing them and most of us have no problem with the deals being passed on. You clearly do, that's fine, now lets drop this.

JaquelineHyde · 18/06/2014 20:13

Also just to put people's minds at rest the fb page that daddykyller has linked to is just a bog standard facebook group page, the only people making money off it will be facebook (advertising) and the merchants whose deals get posted and then bought.

So unless Daddykyller sells a lot of bargain stuff on Amazon and then posts it here and on fb I doubt he is making any money from it.

JaquelineHyde · 18/06/2014 20:17

Reastie I loved the Murad deal last year and think I was one of the only people who got everything I ordered after persisting with a complaint. Really lovely stuff as well.

Speaking of last year, another one to keep an eye out for is the L'Occitane deals. Everyone I gave that to last year has commented about how gorgeous the stuff is and although it isn't as bargainous as some stuff on here, it is well worth grabbing when a decent deal does come up.

BigfootFiles · 18/06/2014 20:48

Someone asked about micro scooters - Tesco Evo pink & purple one back in stock for £6.30.

PringleLicker · 18/06/2014 20:50

Sports Direct are having a footwear clearance starting midday Saturday. Online only.
Email from them.
Hope this is useful to someone Smile

lucysmam · 18/06/2014 20:58

That was me BigFoot Smile Thanks for the link but it has to be the branded micro scooters....it's taken me a couple of weeks of hunting for ones with quiet wheels & convincing dp that they'll be longer lasting than the ten quid ones we got last time. (although I am tempted for my four year old at that price).

Scaredycat3000 · 18/06/2014 21:01

Right back to bargains all Aliexpress though

For baby

For Frozen fans and more

Bracelets like the nautical one from Amazon more designs and cheaper.

For the Gardener

For butterfly fans

Ok, that's enough for now.

MayhemMostDays · 18/06/2014 21:09

Scaredy did you see my earlier post about using debit cards in Aliexpress?

What's your thoughts on that?

WaitMonkey · 18/06/2014 21:12

I 100% agree with everything Reastie said. In my opinion this is a nice thread for nice people. Grin No squabbling please, it's only June, plenty of time for Christmas arguing. I also think it's so lovely to see the same people back. [waves]

MayhemMostDays · 18/06/2014 21:12

And because of the health and safety issues I'd be a bit wary of ordering anything that my 5 month old dd3 might put in her mouth

WisemansBridge · 18/06/2014 21:34

Sorry, not a Christmas related post but thought you lot would be the best people to ask!

I'm looking for ideas for my dd's nursery teachers. They are brilliant and I would like to get them something special - a bit unusual, maybe personalised. Any ideas would be much appreciated. I don't want to spend more than £25.

Thanks :)

Scaredycat3000 · 18/06/2014 21:35

Well Mayhem, I wouldn't use anything but credit card or paypal for anything I was paying for over the phone or internet. You pay Aliexpress who then go on to pay the seller, so the seller never has your payment details. I really can't advise you on that, I would trust them as far as I trust any big company, so that's not much. I've had fraud committed against me twice in my lifetime both by rogue employees of large well known British firms. Oh that's not counting last week when the MN bleeding heart fiasco caught up with me and I nearly paid for someone's food delivery.
The quality of the goods are no worse or better than you can buy in this country, I mean where do you think most of our goods are made. The only real difference is you sometimes can't tell until you can see them for real. Some have very good photos and you can clearly see the good/bad quality. You need to check their reviews and base your purchase on that.

Mama1980 · 18/06/2014 21:39

Mayhem. I sometimes use a prepaid cash debit card, on websites where they charge me to use my credit card, they are easily bought in the supermarket or orange etc do one. And just keep I topped up as and when that way if it is copied there's barely anything to take. Maybe a option for you if you don't have a credit card?

Mama1980 · 18/06/2014 21:39

I have also ordered several bits, will report back on the quality when they arrive.
