Now that the bargains thread is gaining momentum, is it time to put the sprouts on?

I left it til October last year and they were decidedly underdone Sad

Surely the urgent task about now is selecting your turkey's parents and supervising their mating?

Fenton · 22/05/2014 10:08

You should be worrying about making your Christmas gin surely?

Atbeckandcall · 22/05/2014 10:39

Amateurs! Wink

CatThiefKeith · 22/05/2014 11:19

I have the turkey firmly under control. I have hand reared a beautiful specimen. I feed him nothing but apples, raisins, cinnamon, ginger and honey.

I am hoping this will negate the need to spend most of December marinating him.

He looks a little scrawny, but he has a few months yet so I am hoping he will fill out a bit.....

oh shit!

I haven't even BOUGHT mine yet...

Do you think there'll be any left if I dash down to Tesco now?

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 22/05/2014 18:55

You only have 217 days , they'll be raw Shock RAW I tell you.

Unless (Christmas could be saved after all) you get some snazzy Heston Blumenthal~esque pressure cooker ?

kelper · 22/05/2014 18:57

If i get baby sprouts, will i only need to put them on around august?

JerseySpud · 22/05/2014 19:10

You are all insane.

Sprouts are the work of the devil!

I remember Christmas year before last. I always make home made gravy and without thinking used the sprout water to make the gravy with. Couldnt understand why DD1 and i were farting along with sil, DH and DD2 when DD1 and i don't eat sprouts.

It finally hit me when the fumes got too much later in the evening what i had done...

CatThiefKeith · 22/05/2014 20:00

Shit and bother. I haven't got a pressure cooker!

Would a slow cooker work?

Can I skewer them with metal skewers and BBQ them, then the metal will cook them inside as well?

Eyes up large incinerator which DH bought and is currantly in the kitchen

CatThiefKeith · 23/05/2014 11:25

70 I reckon they will be delicious on the BBQ!

Barbecued sprouts??

Stop this madness!

CatThiefKeith · 23/05/2014 16:43

On a separate note, I have decided to make my own Christmas cards this year.

Can someone talk me through turning the old apple tree into paper please?

OP posts:
starfishmummy · 23/05/2014 17:01

Much easier to turn your junk mail into paper.

Viviennemary · 24/05/2014 21:32

Is it that time of year already. I'm behind as usual. We're still eating leftovers from last Christmas. Can you cook sprouts on solar panels.
