We need a new thread to continue the very successful countdowns of 2013 and 2012.

And before anyone does the Hmm face (or Xmas Hmm face ) take a look at some of the 'Panic Threads' at the end of December when people were "Twitching" and stressing.

Organisation is key.

(I just need to find somewhere that'll work out how many days it is Grin )

Christmas time babies are the best - my DS was born in the Millenium December.
DH and I are Christmas Dinner in shifts we were too knackered to chew Grin
DS didn't have the word 'sleep' in his vocabularly.

DD is a Boxing Day babe - I had my grandparents telling me to "sit down and relax, let others stir the gravy" (when I had no intention of sitting but had no idea WHY I didn't feel like sitting). I ate 2 helpings each of turkey, and of pudding, as DD finally dropped and I had room. I enjoyed a glass of wine and laughter at the family gathering (my Dad's parents' house, so his parents, Dad's 5 siblings and their 3 spouses, 2 other grandchildren who were literally children, DH and I - all our more immediate families were in their own houses 3 hours away but I was not travelling that far on my due date!). I got stuck sitting between the priest Shock and the other recent new mum (5 month old was her 2nd) when we moved to sitting room for presents, so trying to hide what had then become obvious to me as contractions from them all - including the 88 year old grandparents, while trying to attract DH's attention became interesting! Grin I left there at midnight, went home to change and phone hospital, but basically went straight in and DD arrived at 6.15am!

So Christmas is special in our house!!

Just try to have your shopping done early, before December, in case. But look forward to writing cards while stuck at home in the bad weather as you start your mat leave etc!!

We drove home from the hospital late Christmas Eve. So Christmas Day was a little bit if a blur, it was just the 3 of us, I know we had roast chicken and champagne. We locked ourselves in for a couple of days which was lovely. Lots of pictures of newborn snuggles under the Christmas tree.

Yes I second the get as much done beforehand so you can just relax and enjoy it, saying that I hosted a party for over 30 people the week before I was due [laugh]

nickdrakeslovechild · 27/06/2014 14:57

Doh should of been Grin

DrewsWife · 27/06/2014 16:20

awe I love these stories x

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 27/06/2014 17:51

It was really weird with DS - I used to listen to Chris Tarrant saying "Oh, only 32 days till the Millenium" and I'd be shouting shut up, I have to give birth

Then when I had my PFB, everyone was running round like ants.
And I had my son Grin

Though DH and I were jiggered , we had no idea a small baby would have such impact. On the Boxing Day we took him out in the pram for a walk round, looking at the decorations.
It was magical Smile

LOL.

DD was only 3 weeks old when her first Christmas came...there is a photo of me sitting on the floor in MIL's house with my back against the radiator with a screaming DD on my lap. I look absolutely shattered and miserable while everyone was cooing over her.

caramelwaffle · 27/06/2014 20:50

Ahhhh. The just given birth photos. Freckin awful Mine are hidden away somewhere.

caramelwaffle · 28/06/2014 00:24

One hundred and eiiiiiiiiightyyyyyyy

caramelwaffle · 28/06/2014 00:26

"Look what you could've won!"

(Always a boat)

Smilesandpiles · 28/06/2014 13:39

I've been decorating pine cones.

Pine cones and glittery nail varnish. Dead simple but really effective. These will be going on the stairs garland.

DrewsWife · 28/06/2014 14:21

I bought my new stamps and inks to make my christmas cards. I have to have them done before I go on mat leave in november. Grin

You're all so organised.

And arty.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 29/06/2014 10:53

I can do organised but I can't do arty.
Very Envy at artistic people.

I still can't get over the pine-cones-maturing-in-April/May/Spring malarky.

Who knew?

Not me!

BiddyPop · 30/06/2014 09:06

I bought my parents present over the weekend - I spotted some beautiful bird ornaments and intended going back another day this week to the shop, but DH spotted them on our way back past the shop and suggested them!! So we ended up buying them there and then. (We also saw a potential present for his parents, but the paint was coming off it so we left that behind us).

3 done, only another 46 to go!!

I have signed my form looking to take 1 day a week parental leave until the end of January (my boss hasn't had 5 minutes for me to explain it to him to accept it yet Hmm ), so I may actually get some crafting time this autumn once I get some control and organization imposed on the house again!! I have oodles of sewing projects in mind....

Smilesandpiles · 30/06/2014 13:03

I don't know when Pine cones mature. I've had these one in a jar for over a year now. I just thought I'd do something with them.

StillWearingOddSocks · 30/06/2014 19:04

I love this thread! I think I'm going 2 expire with excitement Grin

I've just started making my list of Christmas traditions - nicking loads of stuff from you festive lot.

When can I make my
Christmas cards? Is this weekend too early Grin

caramelwaffle · 30/06/2014 20:28

Hmmm no Smile

I've just discovered today that a PPI refund £££ went into my bank account. Have filled up the Christmas account.

50shadesofknackered · 01/07/2014 07:38
