  • We have a friend with er baby dropping by for a cup of tea and mince pie
  • then the church christingle service - we're not religious but thought it was be nice for toddler. Then home to watch Shrek : Donkeys Xmas carols while I make dinner. Before bed leave out a mince pie and carot for santa and Rudolph.

Once kids are in bed :

  • dh and I will have a nice dinner (warm green salad with prawns and smoked salmon and fries)
  • watch a Xmas film
  • get all the presents laid out in the living room for dc

After a horrible year I'm really looking forward to a nice Xmas.

Fedupnagging · 24/12/2013 07:52

"And we still do the mince pie, carrot and ridiculous creeping around with stockings whispering, even though the Ds are 15 and 17". There was uproar in our house yesterday when dh suggested just putting the stocking fillers under the tree with the rest of the presents - ds's are 14, 17 and 20!

Today will take the dog for a long walk to clear a mild hangover get some fresh air.

Then will make chocolate meringues, fudge sauce and the stuffing. (Will be getting ds's to peel all the veg and dh to Hoover. The threat of no roasties is enough to shift everyoneXmas Grin.

Then will iron christmas tablecloth and do the table.

Then I fully intend to sofa surf for an hour or two before meeting friends this evening for a meal.

TheNightIsDark · 24/12/2013 07:52

I've just read the kids a letter from Santa explaining that the house and their rooms need to be tidy or he won't have room to deliver anything.
I dashed to the shop at 7am to get my stepdads beer. That don't serve booze until 8 so will have to take 3 kids with me Angry

Rest of the day is tidying, baking mince pies and cranberry muffins and hoping MIL pops over and takes a child or 2 out for an hour or so!

Cathycat · 24/12/2013 07:53

Taking the children out somewhere this morning so they can run off their energy while hubby wraps presents. Back home I want to clean the bathroom, iron the table cloth and set the table. Early evening we will watch a film while having tea.

Thingymajigs · 24/12/2013 07:55

I'm making breakfast for everyone then I'll delegate chores to DP and the kids. We should all be done by 11 then a lunch of something with smoked salmon before I'm off to see the midwife for my 34 week check.
Afterwards we are visiting two sets of relatives and delivering Christmas cupcakes.
When we get back I'll surprise the boys with a Christmas Eve box with a little chocolate snowman, Christmas socks and hats, Christmas marshmallows for their hot chocolate and a very Christmassy film for all of us- Pacific Rim. Grin

TheRaniOfYawn · 24/12/2013 07:55

Do Christmas dinner prep for tomorrow.

Make sausage rolls

Take children to the crib service, eating warm sausage rolls on the way.

Home for lunch.

Tidy up, clean sheets etc.

Original plan was to go for a long walk with the children, but if the weather doesn't improve I might change it to a short trip to deliver cards.

Open Christmas Eve hamper.

If the sky is ckear, go outside to see Santa's sleigh (the international space station is due overhead in the early evening).

Bath and pyjamas for children.

Watch the Cbeebies Christmas Carol.

Dinner.

Possibly watch The Snowman and the Snowdog.

Put out stuff for Father Christmas.

Hang up stockings and put children to bed.

Have bath.

Possibly go to midnight mass but not if the weather stays this bad.

Put presents under tree, fill stockings, eat carrot and mince pie, drink sherry, write letter from Father Christmas.

Go to bed.

msmiggins · 24/12/2013 08:03

It all sounds lovely- just can't find the christmas spirit today. OH was celled to work unexpectedly yesterday so our plans went astray a bit. I will pop out this morning to do some last minute food shopping, My Mum is coming to visit for lunch. Finish wrapping, put away a mountain of clean laundry, make some chocolate moussse and prep for tomorrow. Try to find some time to relax with the kids.

TheDayOfMyDoctor · 24/12/2013 08:22

I shall mostly be in the kitchen prepping all the things I said I was going to do weeks ago. Confused We were supposed to be going to a show which was cancelled. Hoping to get all organised so I can snuggle on the sofa with DS to watch a Christmas movie later this afternoon.

MooseyMoo · 24/12/2013 08:25

We were going for a walk this morning but will check on weather in a bit. Need to cook mince pies, smoke the salmon.

Crib service this afternoon and then finish off cooking the ham in coca cola and potato gratin.

Christmas DVD with DC, bath, new pjs and put out Xmas sacks and stockings and snack for Santa & reindeer.

After kids in bed, I need to pack bag for Xmas day as at parents and put out presents & fill stockings.

Retropear · 24/12/2013 08:34

Last bit of cleaning, change sheets, take turkey out of freezer(please don't forget).

Got to make mince pies, red cabbage and ice the Xmas cake(the kids like to do that).Kids may make Xmas biscuits.

Would like to get a walk in.

Kids will make their gingerbread house and I've got some clear baubles for them to fill with moss, fake snow and woodland creatures.Still not done them so we'll do those.

New board game and Polar Express/ The Snowman DVDs this evening with said gingerbread house and their fav cinnamon popcorn and mulled wine for us.

Bath with their rather over powering Lush Xmas pudding bath bomb.

Hang stockings then dp and I sit it out until the little blighters go to sleep.Grin

Frozenatchristmas · 24/12/2013 08:35

I am up and will be going out later with DS to see cousins and then visiting the local farm shop on the way home for cake and hot chocolate and a few treats for tomorrow.

This afternoon will be cleaning a bit and tidying up.

Dinner as usual.

DH will be home god knows when. He is a courier - not yodel and has been working mega hours and I am not sure what today will bring.

Have some cava and bring gifts down from loft and finish stockings.

Retropear · 24/12/2013 08:36

Oh take out and cook ham too.

Take out Xmas trimmings and prep veg.

Sooooo going to forget something, this thread is making me focus though.Smile

Retropear · 24/12/2013 08:43

Must rem to read The Night Before Christmas too.

lizzywig · 24/12/2013 08:48

I'm currently still in bed with large mug of tea recovering from a nasty lurg with the remnants of a horrible cough, while DH does all the veg prep for tomorrow. I will run him a bath in a bit as he's been looking after 2yo clingy dd all morning.

Then we're off to argos to collect bed guard as dd decided this morning was the day to climb out of her cotbed! Then we're going for all you can eat Chinese buffet. Home for nap and DH and i will watch home alone 2. Christmas eve hamper when dd gets up so new pj's for all of us. Bath for dd and hot chocolate and popcorn watching winnie the pooh xmas movie. Then FC ritual of mince pie etc and then bed for dd while we have m&s party food (scallops and pork belly mmmm) and watch Santa Clause the movie and drink baileys...oh and presents under the tree :-)

MrsDavidBowie · 24/12/2013 08:49

Dh is playing golf as usual, teens are still in bed.
Ds has to wait in for the Virgin man to do something with the tv box....dd and I are going to Wimbledon village for a nice coffee and a mosey round.

About 3pm we're popping up to Somerset House/Southbank for a couple of hours, trains permitting after the storms, and then home for a takeaway and wine.

ellesabe · 24/12/2013 08:57

ginmakesitallok · 24/12/2013 08:57

Don't have any plans! Might pop into town for lunch, have a tidy up, have to go pick up and deliver some presents, make a pavlova for tomorrow, put out mince pie, carrot, magic oats etc, then shot in front of telly surrounded by kids presents.

wonderingsoul · 24/12/2013 08:58

our elf left a map to follow to find the hamper, or should i say treasure chest, which was filled with new pj,s gold choc slabs, a big £50choc note and wheres wally/dr who book. and pirate bubble bath this took them over an hour to find.

they are now eating crumpets and reading their books.

well go to the crib serves at 2 with some of my friends and their lo's. this i sthe first time weve been.. ds1 wanted to go to midnight mas last year but we just didnt get round to it. so im q2uite excited about this, even though were not religiouse at all. then town for one more wrapping roll. then home to watch movies. bath new pjs , and of course to leave santa and ruldolph his food. then bed.

i broke tradtition and wraped my presents yesterday, bar one. so tonight once kids are in bed i guess ill just watch some movies or come on here.
i love being single most of the time, but times like this i wish i had some one to share the excitment with, and to be with.

Fairylea · 24/12/2013 09:05

Retropear · 24/12/2013 09:31

Ours has come down too.

Add NORAD Santa to the list.

DaleyBump · 24/12/2013 09:34

It's a tradition for us that we all go to a panto on Christmas eve. It's fantastic, they pretty much tear up the script and throw it away. I look forward to it all year. This year it'll be me, dh, ds, mum, dad, gran and sister. Costs a fortune for the tickets but it's so so worth it.
