What do you have for Christmas Eve dinner?

Or lunch? Do you do anything special? I've just realised that I have failed to plan it! I have planned Christmas day and boxing day but not Eve!!

I'm having a madras.

We are going out with friends for dinner this year, but usually have 'party food', cheese & wine

I'll be having a tuna and sweetcorn baked potato - something plain and simple in preparation for the over-indulgence ahead!

Sausage sandwiches!

Hot pork sandwiches, we have cold pork with the turkey on Xmas day.

Steak, chips and onion rings. I prefer ham but steak is my dads favourite and he hates christmas dinner so we let him have christmas eve!

We're having a "picnic dinner" ie sitting on a big blanket on the floor in the lounge with picnic food while watching a Christmas film. We have scotch eggs, loads of little finger foods, chips and dips, grapes, cheeses etc.

It's my DD's favourite dinner.

Pizza, with salad and corn on the cob. Easy food.

We have family round for nice bread, cheese, antipasti, smoked salmon, sausage rolls etc then mincepies (homemade mincemeat & pastry), stollen, Yule log and lots of mulled wine & amaretto. I love it.

We have Christmas dinner with all the trimmings. The start of Christmas is at our house & the to dsis on Xmas day.

I am starting a tradition this year and we are having duck, red cabbage and garlic potatoes.

I am baking some mince pies tomorrow evening too.

Indian takeaway. There is one in the next street to us so a quick walk to get it after ringing up.

I like the idea of plain food in preparation...I fancy home made chips and ham or something! Thanks for the ideas everyone...I bet Dh would like curry though.

Poached salmon, salad and new potatoes. Light and easy on the stomach in preparation for the gluttony of Christmas Day !

Ham, cauliflower cheese and mashed potato. Always the same. Then we keep the ham water to do the Brussels for Christmas Day.

Macaroni cheese and homemade chips. My mum has made this on christmas eve for as long as I can remember.

I've bought cod from the fish van. Think we'll have it pan fried with chips and peas (maybe even mushy)

I cook my Ham today, so we have that with new pots, broccoli and parsley sauce. Oh and the beetroot, we have had the same thing for twenty years so I suppose it's a tradition, but really it's cos I can't be arsed thinking of something else.

Ham, cabbage (cooked in water from ham), floury mashed potatoes and parsley sauce. Same every year, family tradition for generations

We normally cheat and go out but the weather is wild!!!
So we are having scallop linguine with cherry tomatoes, rocket and parmesan with a glass of fizz. Yum
