As I've just realised dd2 and ds1 have a few more presents than dd1. She doesn't have one, she uses mine sometimes. She has just got to the age when she is spending time on her appearance. I could get a nice hairdryer easily from argos.

Dh, as usual, says it is a really boring present but has no other ideas Angry

I would have loved my own at 14, was such a pain using my mum's.

ILoveAFullFridge · 23/12/2013 19:56

Sounds a perfect present. Dh has no idea!

mrsslc · 23/12/2013 19:59

good gift, they have some in funky colours too Smile Smile

I've bought a lovely leopard print one for DD (13) and I know she'll be over the moon with it.

What's your budget? this is the one I got for DD. I asked the shop assistant to check the price on the small travel size one as it wasn't showing on the shelf edge. She told me it was £20 and directed me to this bigger one instead. It's in a pretty big bag too so will look good wrapped up iyswim?

Branunion · 23/12/2013 20:11

Phew. I thought I wasn't going mad. That mark Hill one is fab but I can only really get to argos - there is a boots but it's not very big

It's a great present for 14 year old! I'd make sure it said 'professional' on the side and get a big barrel denman from Boots to go with it - what's not to love? Grin

wonderingsoul · 23/12/2013 20:23

great present.. maybe add one of thouse rounded brush's and heatmouse/spray

ExitPursuedByAChristmasGrinch · 23/12/2013 20:24

Dd 14 has asked for a hair dryer and two curling tong straightener thingies. Among other stuff.

EustaciaVye · 23/12/2013 20:51

I have put a travel hairdryer in DDS stockings. They are 7 and 9 and will be ecstatic. Note - They are responsible girls and will get a lecture about not using without me knowing for safety.

Great gift.

PeppaisPink · 23/12/2013 20:53

Great idea! I loved stuff like this when I was in my teens. Maybe get her a couple of styling products /brushes too. (superdrug/wilkos etc have some offers on at the minute)

ClaimedByMe · 23/12/2013 20:54

I've got my nearly 11yo a set from Argos hairdryer/straightners/tongs, she uses my ghd hair dryer and straightners, Sheila love her own set.

lljkk · 23/12/2013 21:34

DD is 12 & suddenly begging for crimpers. She'd drool over own hair dryer (currently sharing with big brother).

MammaGnomes · 23/12/2013 21:41

I got a hairdryer for my 13th birthday and I still use it now (im 26) don't know what I will do when it breaks!

velvetmoon · 23/12/2013 22:03

She'll love it :)

ShylaMcClaus · 23/12/2013 22:14

Fantastic idea. The technology changes rapidly so it will probably be much better than yours!

Ohfuckeryitsmarzipan · 23/12/2013 22:19

Ds2 got one for dd 14 last year. (Well I did and he paid for it) I got some 3 for 2 posh styling stuff from boots. Chuffed.

NoComet · 23/12/2013 22:21

My mum gave DD2 one for her 12 birthday, I thought it was a bit dull, she doesn't.

Also I sneak in and borrow it, mine is over 15 years old.

She has new straighteners off my DSIS, she says her little short ones aren't up to the job.

I have no idea what straighteners do! My hair is straight, it's boring, I much prefer her curling gadget.

ginmakesitallok · 23/12/2013 22:22

No no no!!!! I remember getting a fucking hasir dryer for Christmas, and yes it was as boring and shite as you think it will be.

ginmakesitallok · 23/12/2013 22:24

I used to "borrow" my mums sanitary towels, and they would be a shite boring present too

Skogkat · 23/12/2013 22:27

Great present- very useful nd right up most teen girls' street.

supermariossister · 23/12/2013 22:46

I got one at age 11 off my grandparents. the back part slotted out and you dripped a special liquid on it which made the hot air blowing out smell like strawberry. I thought it was epicGrin

MrsDavidBowie · 24/12/2013 09:02

Lovely present...I've got one for ds 14.
It may stop him coming in my bedroom every morning and using mine.

Although as mine is a Parlux and his ...isn't...he may notice the difference.

HappyMummyOfOne · 24/12/2013 14:00

My niece is around that age and asked me for a funky one like her friends. I will be the coolest Aunt as paired it with matching straightners and a voucher to spend in Boots on hair stuff and makeup Grin If only Nephews were that easy to shop for lol.

Theas18 · 24/12/2013 14:03

My 14yr old says great pressie !

sooperdooper · 24/12/2013 14:05

I think that's a great present for a 14 year old, she'll get loads of use out of it :)
