I didn't even realise the last thread was nearly at the end Blush

As usual I'll stick the long OP in the next message, but haven't been so diligent about keeping it updated since it's so close to Christmas and it's all slowed down, sorry.

V tech Secret safe diary here is the big hit with 6 yoDD. The big yellow tub of lego from Argos good for DS. He doesn't seem to care much about his Go Mini remote control car.

dandelionsRflowers · 27/12/2013 09:09

I couldn't find where I put my finger lights for dds stocking, still can't find them so I'll just have yo order more for her birthday in March.

FaceDirectionOfTravel · 27/12/2013 10:36

Thank you all so so so much for helping us make a wonderful Christmas for the kids!

Am currently losing the will to live assembling the Playmobil school that we got for £40 back in July or whenever, but my DD will love it. And getting a Hudl for doubled up Tesco vouchers means I'll never see my son again, but he is happy. Plus many many many other bargains found for lots of family members and much fun had.

So Christmas. Such wow. Much bargain. Love.

ValiumQueen · 27/12/2013 12:54

My 20 quid furby is the biggest hit here, although I nearly chucked it out of the car on a long journey yesterday as the fucker would not go to sleep!

I wish I had seen the playmobil school at 40 quid. That is some bargain.

MooseyMoo · 27/12/2013 14:06

Biggest hit for us is Gadget the Robot. It was wrapped for DS (2yrs) but my DD (3.6yo) loves playing with it too.

Joint first place is the mini lorries and cars but DS is obsessed with cars. He opened lorries first and wouldn't put them down. Unwrapped one handed Xmas Hmm

Pop up Pirates has been played a lot too.

Biggest miss (IMO) is the wooden hammer and nail toy. The sound of the hammer on the nail goes straight through my head. Was really hoping to leave that one with MiL.

SpottyChristmasCakes · 27/12/2013 15:58

TheOneWithTheHair I should be married by then I'm hoping for quick and bargainous quiet Grin

Hmm favourite toys here.... Leapfrog laptop (Black Friday), gadget the robot, doc mcstuffins doll and pop up pirates.

Mipe · 27/12/2013 17:36

Did anyone get a Nook Simple Touch Glowlight for Christmas and if so, do you like it? :)

raisah · 27/12/2013 19:29

Asda has got the Vax steam mop on offer for £40.

MooseyMoo · 27/12/2013 19:30

funky bear and hare rucksack is reduced to £7

Funkybutnot · 27/12/2013 19:45

Thank you moosey ordered! The tin that was holding the mug has come in handy to hold all the squinkies too.

Coveredinweetabix · 27/12/2013 19:53

Just popping in to say thank you to all of those eho have posted bargains over the past few months. Opening the pressies on Weds made me think of you all as all of the DCs presents except one were barfains from her. 4yo DD is loving the playmobil school and the duplo cakes. I'm particularly pleased with the latter as I ummed & aahed for ages & didn't get them the first couple of times thry were reduced only to finally succumb & she adores them.
18mo DS is really enjoying his wooden tool box from whichever website had that crazy 50% off everything and then took ages to deliver and is also liking his wow toy. I've also had loads of really grateful texts from friends having got theor DC some great presents. Usually, I don't hear from them until proper thank you letters in early Jan but this year have had a couple of texts to say the DC concerned hasn't stopped wearing/playing with whatever I gave them.
Thank you! And good health, happiness & successful bargain hunting to you all in 2014.

TooWetToWoo · 27/12/2013 20:56

Another one truly grateful for these threads, I've never been so organised before. I usually massively overspend, get myself in a right tizzy and end up not enjoying the build-up. This year, I've saved a fortune, got some fantastic stuff and had a brilliant time. Can't wait for next year! I've even started putting a couple of bits away for next year [proud emoticon]

CadenceRoastingByAnOpenFire · 27/12/2013 23:59

For anyone bargain hunting for birthdays/Christmas next year, argos have Skylanders backpacks reduced to £2.99. Can't link as I'm on phone sorry.

Ilikesweetpeas · 28/12/2013 08:52

Not sure what Skylanders are but is the backpack a suitable gift for 6 year old boys? Thanks

CadenceRoastingByAnOpenFire · 28/12/2013 10:10

I haven't a clue sorry, I just posted about the backpack because I've seen Skylanders mentioned a lot on these threads so I think they're popular. Not sure about what age they're suitable for though. Hopefully someone who knows will be along soon :).

LaTrucha · 28/12/2013 11:22

Lots of 6yo boys will like skylanders.

MooseyMoo · 28/12/2013 13:33

So lovely to hear how Reastie's bargain threads have helped everyone. I'm still in shopping mode...

Grabbed a few bargains from Sainsburys (Hello Kitty Nail Varnish £1.80, Hello Kitty bath Fizzer 90p, Minnie Mouse Bath Fizzers £1,80)

Lakeland: LED water lights (to use in vases) £2.99, light up Robot bouncy ball £1.79, nail stickers £1.49

And Robert Dyas for a light up Hello Kitty Bouncy ball £1.79

Birthday and stocking presents started! Must not store them in special place...

ValiumQueen · 28/12/2013 13:48

I am now planning DD2s 4th birthday. I have the gifts already - playmobil fest - and the party bags will have finger lights in as our house was the only MN house not to have them at Christmas I think.

Our furby died after 24 hours. Just a battery issue I think, but we are away and used rechargeables. It was nice to have a break from it.

ReastieYuleANBU · 28/12/2013 14:03

Also loving hearing how the presents went down and the sale bits you've found. I went to sainsburys yesterday and got some half price gift wrap and some gruffalo smellies less than half price (saw mooseys hello kitty stuff too) and have rung up my local Jojo Maman and they have a coat for DD in stock in their store when the website have completely sold out, so off tomorrow to go and collect it's sad that I'm excited about this isn't it

Wineandchoccy · 28/12/2013 14:13

Been to tescos this morning and bought make your own own hair slide £1.24 and paint your own jewellery box £3.44 for my nieces birthday and got remote controlled meccano car from home & bargain £19.99 rrp £40 for my nephews birthday.

Also got Cath kidston craft book £7.50 from house of Fraser for a birthday in April! I need to put it somewhere safe now.

Nanny25 · 28/12/2013 15:28

I was at Asda today, got a gift wrap set with 3 rolls of paper, 8 bows and 2 rolls of ribbon reduced to £1.50.

TheOneWithTheHair · 28/12/2013 16:42

I didn't get my finger lights Valium. I had to cancel the order on Christmas Eve as there were a few other things with it that I can't keep over iyswim. :(

2kidsintow · 28/12/2013 16:51

Another big thanks to this thread. If it hadn't been for here, I'd not have twitched and bought DD the furby that was a bargain through getting it on the Toysrus 20% off weekend deal. She's loved it and says it's her favourite present. :) :)

raisah · 28/12/2013 23:27

I bought 2 ladybird pillow pets for £5 each from Tesco this evening. That's my dc's birthday gift sorted and I will buy another one for my niece tomorrow to supplement her birthday present.

ElfOnTheShelf · 29/12/2013 08:48

Valium it's not always the batteries that makes a Furby stop working. After putting different sets of batteries in I googled why my Furby wasn't working and lo and behold there is a teeny tiny could miss it if you didn't know if was there reset button that you need a metal dowel type thingy to press it and Furby springs back into life again.

HTH Xmas Smile
