Having wrapped up all my presents to give in the next week or so I came to think about how many gifts I'll have piled up under the tree as a single and child free nanny.

Work - 3 under the Christmas tree for me plus child I look after bought me something at the school fete

Close friends - 7 close friends of mine are buying and swapping presents [Only 2 of these friends have children]

"Work xmas do" - already opened secret santa gift.

Family - 7 family members will also buy presents for me [Mum will go mad Hmm Grin ]

19 presents [that's if everyone just buys 1 - see above!] seems a lot for little old me - so how many presents under the tree will be for you this Christmas? Or do adults not do presents?

DH and I agree not to get each other Christmas presents, as both our birthdays are in December and our children get so much it's all about them Christmas morning, but this year I've cheated and bought Charlie and The chocolate factory tickets for us from our DD's ;) so... 1 under our tree!

At my parents house shortly after I'll have 3 from them (ugg boots, new dinner service and earrings, I know as I picked them all!) and possibly a few odds and ends.

2 from grandparents.
3 from my brothers, 3 again from their DC.
About 5 from friends.
About 5 from relatives.

So, 22-25 maybe?

I would happily get nothing, all I want to do is sit and open presents with my DD1, this is the first year she's excited and I absolutely can't wait!! Grin

Something small from my Mum and a couple of things I've bought myself and given dd1 to wrap. DH is shit at presents and I refuse to be a martyr and get either crap or nothing. This year I have bought myself some boots, a cashmere sweater (only tesco but hey) and some pretty earrings.

I have:

10 from husband (9 which are most likely just bits of tat, plus a new computer), plus a stocking
a gift bag containing 11 presents from mum, dad, sister, BIL and nephew, which mum delivered when she visited in November and forgot to write what was from who
2 books from parents which they didn't wrap, because i ordered them online, delivered them to their house, with the delivery instructions of 'this is my christmas pressie from you. thanks' on them.
2 from friends
2 from parents in law
And there's likely to be a tenner in the card from his grandma for both of us to have a christmas drink

I'v

MangerMinor · 19/12/2013 16:16

Two from DH (one of which I asked for)
One from my parents (which I have bought myself)
One from the dc
One from MIL (money)
One from BIL/SIL (from my amazon wish list so I know what it is)
One from a secret santa
One from a company I work with

I miss surprises.

1 from everyone - it won't be under the tree, it is already on the floor. I've had my 20 year old kilim mended, fringed and cleaned. As it cost nearly 2 week's wages I've asked everyone who wants to give me a present money towards it.

wordfactory · 19/12/2013 16:33

Loads.

Dh will give me about six or seven.
Mum will give me two sacks of gifts (though many will be tokens - wellie socks, bubble bath, pocket diary etc).
DH and I will receive joint gifts from all extended family - about 10.
DS and DD will both give me a couple each.

Very spoiled Grin.

cazzybabs · 19/12/2013 16:37

4 if I am lucky - that is a bad sad .... still my children will have lots

frenchfancy · 19/12/2013 16:48

I've just added up and I recon I'l get about 10. One from each of the DCs (which are really from DH) one from DM and DSM, one from DB and one from Dsis two from friends that are coming for christmas and..

A designer handbag from my BFF Grin. I am a VERY lucky girl.

CalamityJones · 19/12/2013 16:55

Lots. My parents are both dead and my siblings and I don't give each other gifts, just cards, so dh massively overcompensates. And my best friend and I always buy each other something quite special. Honestly - honestly honestly - I'd be more than happy with a book and some nice bubble bath, but there's no telling the man.

I'm somewhere in the middle I think:

1 (that I know of) from DH although he's hinted at a little something extra as well :)
1 from DD
2/3 from my mum and stepdad
Probably money from my dad and something from his partner - often booze or a voucher (she knows me well!)
1 from my brother
Probably money from ILs
And I've already had a lovely Secret Santa present from my friend (we've started doing this between 4 of us in recent years)

We don't exchange presents with any other family or friends.

I don't think I do too badly, in fact I feel very lucky.
