Having wrapped up all my presents to give in the next week or so I came to think about how many gifts I'll have piled up under the tree as a single and child free nanny.

Work - 3 under the Christmas tree for me plus child I look after bought me something at the school fete

Close friends - 7 close friends of mine are buying and swapping presents [Only 2 of these friends have children]

"Work xmas do" - already opened secret santa gift.

Family - 7 family members will also buy presents for me [Mum will go mad Hmm Grin ]

19 presents [that's if everyone just buys 1 - see above!] seems a lot for little old me - so how many presents under the tree will be for you this Christmas? Or do adults not do presents?

About 6 total

Rosvita · 14/12/2013 20:53

Just one from dh (know what it is as a picked it),one from parents (prob £ in a card),grandma (prob £ in a card), both aunties/uncle and in laws, possible secret Santa gift at
Work on Xmas day. So total 6,possibly 7 in total but that's more than enough-I'm more excited to see the kids open their stuff!

JemimaMuddledUp · 14/12/2013 20:57

One from DH, one from the DC, one from my mum, one from the inlaws, one from my best friend, a secret santa from work. So 6, which seems like a decent number.

thegreylady · 14/12/2013 21:15

About 15 and a stocking from dh :)

ZeViteVitchofCwismas · 14/12/2013 21:15

I will get 1 or 2 and none from Dh Sad

MummyPig24 · 15/12/2013 08:48

I will get a present from dh and one from the dcs. We had an early present of money from my dad. I will have one from my brother, grandma, aunts and uncles x 3, in laws and my grandparents.

AnneWentworth · 15/12/2013 09:56

I will have

1 from DH and probably kids or might get 2
1 from my parents
2 from my cousins
1 from my brother
1 from my boss (I get this on 23 Dec and it is a voucher for waterstones and I might spend it on the way home)

So, 6. Seems plenty and everyone swaps lists in my family so that we all get something we want (we try to put as many things as possible on so that we still get a surprise and also refer back to previous lists).

LayMizzRarb · 15/12/2013 17:02

One or two. My mum and dad will buy a couple. I go on holiday and visit the nearby orphanage every winter. Have just come back. my Present from DH and friends was lots of Christmas gifts for the kids there. Not being holier than thou, or at all pious, but after going there I realise that there is little I 'need', and appreciate everything I have so much, I struggle to justify 'wanting' a £500 handbag. Nothing wrong with anyone who does; it is just something the visits to the kids made me think twice about what I have and what I want.

GeekInThePink · 15/12/2013 17:06

4 presents from DH and DC.
2 presents from inlaws
Probably 3 presents from parents

I'm happy with my lot.

will get myself the iPad I really don't even need

grabaspoon · 19/12/2013 10:44

FoxMulder · 19/12/2013 10:48

None! But it's all good, I haven't bought any either.

RubyGoat · 19/12/2013 10:55

I've already opened my work Secret Santa,
2 little things from DH
My DPs are buying us a new living room rug (as DD was rather ill recently & the rug had to go)
PILs - it varies, sometimes I get several good things, other years, not so much.

DD, 19m, has a large mountain of presents though. I'm looking forward to her being old enough for us to be able to put them under the tree before bedtime on Christmas eve.

snowmanshoes · 19/12/2013 11:23

Me and DH swap about 5/6 things and then I'll get something from each of the dd's as will he. Then one each from parents, siblings and inlaws. A nice amount I think, ooh can't wait x

Badvocatyuletide · 19/12/2013 11:28

About 10 or so.

EndoplasmicReticulum · 19/12/2013 11:29

1 from husband.
1 from children.
Nothing from my parents or brother (I don't get them anything either, by mutual agreement)
1 from inlaws, 1 from grand-in-laws, 1 from aunty-in-law, 1 from cousin-in-law.
(that's another conversation, have tried to persuade his side of the family not to bother but no go).

CloserLook · 19/12/2013 11:38

3 from my mum and a hamper from my sister (which hasn't been opened yet so will be a surprise). Hopefully something from my DS. Already opened my present from DP (he can't keep a secret so always gives it to me early) and my other sister always sends the presents unwrapped straight from Amazon so I'll wrap it up but not a surprise.

ConfusedPixie · 19/12/2013 11:43

Not many, probably one from the family I leave tomorrow (I'm a nanny too! Final day tomorrow with one family Sad) and maybe one from my newer family.
A few small things from Mum and Dad, a hand knitted jumper from DP's Mum, my sister's won't get me anything because I said I was skint and would only be giving some home made fudge this year. Then a main present and a stocking from DP.

Suits me! :)

Rememberingbadtimes · 19/12/2013 11:52

None.

Dh and I do not buy for each other. We only buy for our dc.

My dm and siblings have little money so we decided not to exchange gifts.

I do not buy gifts for friends and vice bersa which is just as well

I admit to feeling a little Envy when I read how many gifts some mn receive.

hallowisitmeyourelookingfor · 19/12/2013 12:03

This year probably 3.
DP aren't doing presents for the first time, we are building an extension and our present to each other is doors and windows for it! He has taken the DC out and got them to choose me something from though, and I have done the same for him. Nothing high value, not more than £50ish.
My Dm and MIL will both buy me something.
I'm not bothered at all. I am very particular and fussy and have just sent presents straight to the charity shop every year I've received more presents. My DM has good taste and I know she'll choose something that I like, MIL is buying me tickets for something, and I will obviously love anything from the DC. I buy what I want throughout the year so it's hard for people at Christmas which is why I ask people not to bother.

3 or 4 from DP
1 from DD (via XP)
4 or 5 from DParents
And a random selection from friends.

absentmindeddooooodles · 19/12/2013 12:10

One from my mum ( token pressie as none of us have any money this year)
Mil has decided that she will buy us lunch one day as a pressie.

Thats it. Dp and I would usually but so super skint that only doing pressies for ds this year. ( managed to get a couple of v nice sexond uand bargians a month or two ago!)

ImaginativeNewName · 19/12/2013 12:22

I'll probably get a couple from DH, one each from mum and dad, my brother doesn't usually bother as buys for my children, one from my gran, perhaps one from mil, one from my best friend, one from work so under ten, probably about six or seven.

Out of those I will probably only genuinely like and use dh's and my friend's (Grin)although my mum or dad strikes a winner sometimes. I love presents though, so am always grateful for the effort they have gone to. Bless them!
