Bizarre Xmas Wish list - HELP!

Nuttychicken · 02/12/2013 23:36

I collected DS from after school club and was presented with his Xmas wish list which he's been working on today. Before reading it I was all choked up and felt a lump rising in my throat. This soon turned to shock and slight feeling of nausea as I read while being interrogated by a concerned/curious member of staff.

The list was (in the order they were written)

  1. A bedroom door
  2. A star chart
  3. A cupboard for my shoes
  4. An iPad

Anyone else had weird things on their DC's santa letter? Or is it just us?!
For the record he has the first 3 items on the list...

My 9 year old DD has asked for an antique doll and a toy which was popular in the 1980s! I think your son's list is very good! Grin especially the bedroom door. Doesn't he have one?

mamicar · 02/12/2013 23:45

maybe he's very clever. he knows you know he has the first three on the list so the only thing left to buy him is the iPad air Grin

Nuttychicken · 02/12/2013 23:46

He has a very nice wooden door! It opens and closes as and when required to do so, the hinges were recently oiled. It clearly isn't meeting his door needs though... I asked why he wanted a new door and he didn't know.

Grin ur son sounds marvelous

Nuttychicken · 03/12/2013 00:14

Thanks! He is for the most part! Just wish we had more ideas for Xmas presents that didn't come from Homebase...

Well if it helps mine has asked for a new baby as ours eats too much
He told me he won't open anything else
Erm sorry son...

Wonder if you could get away with what we do - DD proudly carries round an empty kindle case, declaring "my IPad" to all and sundry. She will.open it up, "tap the screen" and cradle it in her arm. Mind, she is two so maybe not. We dont even have tablets (darn friends dc teachig her what an ipad is to start with)

Rockinhippy · 03/12/2013 00:44

My 11yr old DD gave me her list recently... [scared emoticon]

"Real underwire push up bras in decent colours like black, purple or leopard skin " Shock - she has absolutely nothing at all to push up

"pretty lace knickers, grown up ones to match my bras" Shock

"Nice dresses, ones I actually like, not ones you think I should like" I gave up trying to chose her clothes years ago as she's a nightmare & is so fickle it's unreal, she points out things she likes & if I then bought it as a surprise, I get, I said I liked it, but that didn't mean I'd wear it, it would look good on someone else though Confused

"Nice tops" see dresses

"Real grown up make up in decent colours like bright red lipstick & yes I know, only for rare occasional dressing up of for parties, not for everyday & never for school bar lip balm, but it would be nice to own some, even if you are too mean to let me ever wear it" okay at least she listened Grin

"My own iPhone or iPad, one that you can't take off me when you are feeling mean" Hmm

Good quality drawing pad - now that I can do

But FFS Shock

Rockinhippy · 03/12/2013 00:46

I love your boys list Grin I'm going with he's very clever & aiming for the iPad too :)

mamicar · 03/12/2013 07:07

Grin rockin. has she just moved to secondary? I have the boy version who wants proper clothes, not from asda. sigh

Rockinhippy · 03/12/2013 08:00

Oh gawd mamicar it's going to get worse in high school isn't it - she's not there yet, she's still year 6

mamicar · 03/12/2013 17:12

Yes Grin

superdry, jack wills, actual branded names

Plus I have a boy who loses things like theres no tomorrow

fuzzpig · 03/12/2013 17:49

If anyone requires it, I recently discovered the superdry outlet on eBay :o got my DSD (who would never ask for designer clothes as she knows they are ££) a superdry dress for around half price, she is going to be ecstatic :)

mamicar · 03/12/2013 17:58

That's the same place I got his first superdry coat from :)

Nuttychicken · 03/12/2013 19:56

Think we have got to the bottom of the weird list.
Door is because it is brown (wooden) and not very colourful. Star chart because he had new stickers so need a new chart.

The cupboard is because we went for a nosey round a new housing development where the shoe racks in the designer wardrobes had mechanical shoe storage and he was rather taken with how the tracks moved racks. That was nearly three months ago. Strange the stuff kids remember!

Now just need to work out what he actually wants...

What's superdry?

OP posts:
fuzzpig · 03/12/2013 20:02

Superdry is a hideously overpriced clothing brand that is very In with teens :o don't worry I'm sure you've got years before getting to that stage (and it'll be a totally different brand by then anyway no doubt)

fuzzpig · 03/12/2013 20:03

Are you going to paint his door then? :o

HenriettaPie · 03/12/2013 20:15

3 yo DS wants a fish. We have a tropical tank and at the fish shop he picked out a silver cat shark fish. No problem except he wants it wrapped up and put under the tree, so he can open it and put it in the tank himself! How do I make that work?!

WannaSplitAPineapple · 03/12/2013 20:20

Haha henrietta that really made me laugh. I can't wait til DS is old enough to give me a fun list.

OddFodd · 03/12/2013 20:31

Thank you for these - I've had a crap day and these have really made me smile. And I love justalilmummy's baby who eats too much! Does your DS pay the grocery bills? :o

DS has handwritten his list (which is all predictable toys) and then asked to redo it 'on the computer like you do so the words come out from the printer'. He also writes Happy new Year! at the end of the list because Father Xmas is too busy to enjoy Christmas :o

NothingTraLaLa · 03/12/2013 21:14

DS (age 3) has asked Father Christmas for:

spaghetti for tea
a fat spiderman
a toy crab that pinches you

Mind you, last year he asked for a boiled egg, so he is setting his sights slightly higher this time.

TheFutureSupremeRulersMum · 04/12/2013 10:09

Henrietta you need a robo fish

HenriettaPie · 04/12/2013 10:43

He's picked the real life fish that he wants unfortunately! I could try and talk him into a robo fish. Could they go in a tank with real fish though?

TheFutureSupremeRulersMum · 04/12/2013 10:52

I wouldn't try to persuade him, I'd just wrap up the robofish and put it in his stocking/under the tree.

Not sure if it can go in with real fish or not though. You can put them in the bath, would he like that?
