Getting him and DM a couple of joint presents, (calander of their grandkids and a Cinema Christmas night out box), then he is getting chocs, a kazoo game (play a tune on a Kazoo from a card), and will get him some thing like ales or pjs too.

gamerchick · 23/11/2013 18:09

A picture by Bob olley.

My dad is the hardest person to buy for.

ThreeInEachLobe · 23/11/2013 18:11

Football tickets.

BoysRule · 23/11/2013 18:12

A lonely planet book of his dream destination and a gift set of beer from beerhawk. Sorted.

HesterShaw · 23/11/2013 18:14

Dads eh?

He was hard enough to buy for before he got Alzheimer's. Now there's to be no booze, and he has no hobbies. WTF should I get? Socks? A woolly hat? A nice jumper? (got one for his 70th a few months ago).

What?

BearsInMotion, that sounds interesting. How/where did you buy that?

TotallyAddictedToLurking · 23/11/2013 18:17

Def watching with interest!

I am struggling with all the males in my family!

17leftfeet · 23/11/2013 18:18

A selection of real ales

NoComet · 23/11/2013 18:21

Probably a rugby shirt, he's got a heart condition and he likes warm soft layers, as going out in the cold makes him breathless.

Sadly he also has diabetes so I need an alternative to chocolate.

An Amazon voucher might work as we clubbed together and bought him a kindle a couple of years ago. I've bought him all sorts of sciency books over the years, but he's very short of space.

The book I got DH and DDad last year or the year before was "Around the world in eighty objects" BBC radio 4/ Britsh measeum program, absolutely fascinating for anyone with slightly academic parents.

WeAllHaveWings · 23/11/2013 18:23

Nice bottle of whisky (helps that I work for a alcoholic beverages company and usually get a free bottle at xmas ;) )

NoComet · 23/11/2013 18:24

M&S have their wonderful muppet socks again this year.

I gave a set to DDad and DSIS to fight over and DSIS says they had to buy another packet because they both wanted Animal and Gonzo Grin

DrHolmes · 23/11/2013 18:24

starball Thornton's do chocolates for diabetics. I got some a few years ago for my grandad. Said they were good.

NoComet · 23/11/2013 18:25

Thanks

SPsWouldCatFishNev · 23/11/2013 18:25

No idea. The brother is buying it when I send him a cheque.

He lives in another country with my brother so easier

Cremolafoam · 23/11/2013 18:26

Got dad a pocket Sony radio with headphones as he likes to zone out.
John Le Carre audiobooks on cd for the car.
Any Andrew Williams or Stuart Neville books.
This year it's a family photo session as he'd like a family portrait done. Sister and I have both chopped in for that.
Smile

DrHolmes · 23/11/2013 18:27

Hester get him a cd of songs that were popular when he was younger.

I was listening to Radio four the other day and the article was on music and people with Alzheimer's. This therapist was in an old folk's home singing songs with the people with Alzheimer's and they knew all the words to the songs.. it was amazing to hear actually. They remembered all the words but couldn't remember what they did that morning and who people were but knew all the songs.
