wow 265 pound on bloody playmobile lol

beginning to understand the need to spread the buying over the year .. have only just ordered the playmobile stuff for 2 kids ... not even got to the rest and its 265 pound :( my bank hurts.

unfortuntly northern one daughter wanted an entire real farm for xmas lol so playmobile was already a step down and the main horse farm was 92 pound

and then her twin sister wanted the princess fantasy house thing which was 112 pound and the other bits are like the small added thing car a horse trailer etc and a pig pen.

..... one pay day to xmas beginning to panic

well, I usually decide how much I want to spend and then buy the toys that fit that budget.

We have a lot of playmobile and it has never included 265 pounds worth. Scale down your expectations.

that does include both there main presents ie .. the large horse farm and the large fantasy castle .. I was just shocked I have never bought playmobile before !

well, don't buy the large horse farm etc, buy the small normal farm.

If you have the budget, fine, playmobil is lovely and a great toy, but if you don't have the budget, then buy something smaller.

Our main presents cost about £50, and they get as much pleasure from them as a larger one.

im not complaining at buying her it as she deserves it and there is a reason she is getting it .. I just never realised not having a budget and not planning was a big mistake ! I am now appreciating people who plan in advance lol

If you are panicking at the thought of it being one payday til Christmas then it doesn't sound like you can afford this. It's okay for children to not get exactly what they asked for if you can't afford it (and you don't need to tell them that's the reason). Return the stuff you bought online, you have the right to return (distance selling act). Look around for second hand stuff. PlayMobil has been around for decades so you can probably find lots in charity shops/NCT sales/school Christmas fairs.

My DS's have also got Playmobil for Christmas. Police van and ambulance, £30 each. £265 on Playmobil is unnecessary. Why can't they share if you must buy one of the larger items?

Wow that's a lot of playmobil - but it will hold a lot of its value and your kids will love it!

For future reference though its worth keeping an eye on amazon rather than ordering direct from playmobil as its often cheaper. They also have a damaged box sale where they email you the discounts each month - i have yet to order from it but i did try once for the big farm that was less than half price but apparently it sold within minutes of sending the email

We must have £100's too, just bought in smaller chunks over the years as we never bought a house, large hospital.

DD evicted the wooden dolls house people and furniture and the playmobil took over.

to be honest luggage next year I defo will .. I have had no time time this year and only really have the next few days to get everything sorted.

they are not sharing as both wanted diff things.

this is there first bunch of playmobile so im guessing I can buy the smaller bits for birthdays and it wont be so much. I was just soo surprised at prices of things .. even the tetra dog seems a lot

Vehicles and hospitals are DD's thing's, so we have ambulance and campers, cars, vans etc.

You do have to look where you tread.

we always avoid the big sets as generally you are paying a fortune for a big plastic building when they will get the figures and play in front of the building as it easier. We tend to opt for more smaller sets tbh. But I bet your kids will be delighted xmas morning and I cant imagine you would have ordered if you couldn't afford it. Dont buy the bloody teksta dog though - the reviews on it are awful

Lego is just as expensive.

Lego for DN(10) who can build 16+ technical sets can be true my frightening.

Fortunately he's also happy with a bucket money police motor cycle (he just likes Lego)

It's worth thinking about buying playmobil - as it does get reduced quite regularly - rather than just launching in and buying it there and then.

If you buy through amazon, track the prices on camelcamel - this shows that you've bought the horse farm at a high price, lowest it has been was £62 but until recently it's been ticking along between £71 and £81. You've also just missed the 20% off on playmobil at John Lewis and there's been some good deals on it at mothercare/elc, particularly if you have any of their vouchers. And some stuff went to 70% off in the sainsburys toy sale week in october but that's pretty much gone now too.

Sorry, it's not much fun to hear that you could have paid much less!

I decided against the teksta dog too ! ... most of there presents will be playmobile especially one daughter. I was just shocked going through the shops and noticing how much everything was. you don't seem to get a lot for your money these days.

They had little teksta dogs in b&m recently for about £6. DOn't do as much as the big ones but given they don't really do much either, it's quite cute as a present and a lot more reasonable iykwim!

We'll be spending a bit more than that, but ds1's main presents will be new pyjamas, a book set, small chocolate selection box, a sticker book, and a small lego set. Certainly less than £70 in total. Ds2's will be very similar as well. We simply can't go to much more.

can I just say I have saved all year for this. and my daughter rarely leaves the house or her bedroom and so badly wanted a real farm so was just trying to make it special , I am by far not the richest person in the world, but did get a shock seen as I estimated like 150 for all her presents lol
