Christmas pressy for wife

Hi

I'm looking for some of you lovely ladies to help me with some ideas for Christmas present for my wife. She is just the wrong side of the big 5 oh, and enjoys making cards, beading, but have done that in previous years, so looking for an 'original' ideas

If she is quite into craft stuff and stationery perhaps a nice fountain pen. Lamy are a good make with modern designs, or Pellikan for more traditional style. Both offer engraving, too.

Gifts are such a personal thing, I think the only answer is to spend the next month being attentive to any little clues as to what she might like, you've got loads of time to pay attention and find her something great that she will appreciate, you might get some ideas from the Christmas threads that fit the bill but I don't think it makes any sense for us to make suggestions for a person we don't know --just because we have vagina's too--

Has she got a die cutter? How about something like the cuttlebug or big shot? Or spend a lot more and get a cricut machine? I like scrapbooking and card making although I don't have the time at the moment. How about a set with embossing powders and a heat gun?

Give me a while and I will come up with lots of other things that I would like that she might like. :)

What I'd really like is something that shows my husband thought about me. Once it was a new washing up bowl and drainer! The reason I liked it so much was that a) he noticed the old one was horrible (or paid attention to the fact I moaned about it) b) it was a complete surprise! and c) he does all the washing up so it was just for me to look at really.

I agree with seeing what she'd like or noticing a need, like she moans her coat's getting old or whatever. Is she into shoes or bags? I'd be stunned if my dh got me something like that.

Marigold- he does all the washing up, yet his present to you was a new washing up bowl and drainer? Confused How does that work then?

I think that's quite sweet actually! Here is a new washing up bowl so you don't have to look a the old manky one you hate while I do all the washing up! Grin

Exactly, billybanter. He does it, but couldn't care less what it looks like. I care. I have to look at it while I wash food/ cook, sit at the table. So it was thoughtful, which was the point I was trying to make!

Yes, depends on your budget. For me, I would just love to be surprised......... a meal out where I personally did not have to organise babysitters, the taxi and make the reservation myself would suit me round about now. Back in my younger and richer days I treated us to a dirty weekend in Paris.... DH was told to just get to the airport with his passport.

My ideal fantasy Christmas present..... something where DH flipping arranged everything..... a nice weekend away, to a B&B perhaps a log fire, a glass of wine, a Sunday walk and a pub lunch.

For the first time ever, I'm going to say be nice to the OP! If my DH had ever come on here to try and get ideas, I'd have been really touched. Perhaps you should lead the OP to our Christmas bargain corner Kiwi so his wife can have extra presents for the budget and maybe a Christmas goat from IKEA?

I wasn't being very mean really, it just didn't make any sense to me... we could suggest things until the cows come home but without knowing his partner it would be silly... its not really the same as shopping for a pre-schooler etc what if she's thinking she's got enough crafty stuff to keep her busy all year but what would be great would be XXX, tho hapless gets kudos for even thinking about presents in October I must admit!

And I did suggest getting ideas from our Christmas threads, tho I could have been more specific I suppose.
