Surprising Christmas requests from your DC?

DD2 wants a bike. Fair enough.

DD1 wants..... new carpet.

That won't fit under the Christmas tree!

A couple of years ago dd asked for juice...

2 years a go dd asked for a hairbrush

Last year she wanted a new toothbrush

Dd (3) wants a whole bag of apples just for her.

One year, ds wanted a bear. Not a teddy bear, a real live one!

Last year: 'something big and purple' (DS age 3). And a real octopus. When challenged on the practicality of the latter he suggested it would be fine living in the bath.

DD (11) thinks she'd like a baby sibling (brother so that it can share with DS not her)

I've told her - the reality isn't as much fun as she thinks it would be

I've just got the two DC off to Secondary. I'm not going through that again.

A Clara-fckin-net. They ahd one in clas to tinker with and now he wants one.

He has only just 'got' that we have to pay for the presents...he thought he could just ask Father Christmas for whatever he wanted

DS1 has been the King of unusual requests .

Over the years he has wanted (in no particular order);

An apple picker.
A pair of stilts (metal).
Brown packaging tape.
A "real" machete .
A "real" Pokémon.

...and many, many more interesting items I have now forgotten .

He is now 16 and since the age of 3, there has been at least one odd request a year. Many years, there have been odd requests for both birthday and Christmas!

The year DS2 was 4 only wanted a coca cola red truck (from the Christmas adverts) nothing else just that.

I found a model of one and got him other things, he shunned other things and 'drove' the little truck around for days.

ds2 wants what he had last yr cos he had a nice Christmas.

My younger ds wants a big lettuce . He's 8 and is lettuce obsessed!

Ds wants a pig - a real one.

Sounds cute but he's almost 10 years old!

mymate that's a lovely thing to hear! You must be pleased it was so nice that they want a repeat

I know its good to know he has a lovely time even though he hasn't got a clue what he got & never opens his presents etc. He obviously loves the day though.

DD2 (7) wants a metal bucket so that she can turn it upside down and sit on it, like 'Oor Wullie' (Scottish newspaper cartoon character that she is obsessed with)

Ours wanted immortality last year. We hopefully have a long wait to see if they got it!

When she was 2, dd wanted an umbrella. Nothing else. Last year it was a bike, so more expensive, and this year she wants a paper fan. Ds (2) wants a toy iron. I could sort out Xmas for a fiver this year!

DD 3rd birthday last weekend so not started on Christmas requests, but for her birthday she wanted glitter & ribbons for her hair.

Last year dd wanted a ladder. This year snow whites poisonous apple. Apart from that (and it has taken some badgering to find that out) she never wants anything. When asked she said "I got presents last Christmas" don't think she realises its an annual thing...

A new carpet ... surely the perfect thing to go under the Christmas tree ? ... or then again, maybe not .... all those needles

DS famously wanted a "real snail" - I think that was the year after Santa gave him a cuddly snail in his stocking.

Sadly and slightly to my shame we didn't get him one ... thinking about it now I could have got him a pair of African land snails as pets couldn't I ? At the time I was a bit flumoxed by the request, but happily DS (about 3 at the time) had moved on from the idea cheerfully enough by Christmas day
Maybe it's not too late for a slightly slimy, slowly moving parcel ?

From the letters (starting early I think)

A plasma ball (translated from a "medium crystal ball lamp")
a walking talking panda robot
a box of sweets you can make into different shapes
gymnastics house (gymnasium) with gymnast dolls.

Reading the thread back there's quite a theme of "real" requests isn't there? Especially animals!

Oasis. Yes, really, the stuff for flower arranging.To squish because it's fun.

Ooh, I remember being rather fascinated by that as a child impossible

I was also similarly intrigued by potty putty, and loads of people like popping bubble wrap don't they?

DD1 decided one year she wanted a purple, sparkly jumper

I'm still looking now as apparently she still wants one. Sigh.
