HUKD Ikea will be selling their real Christmas trees for £25 and when you buy one they give you a £20 voucher to spend instore.

They did this last year, more info in the link. It is selected dates only I believe. Last year they also reduced their trees to £1 just before Christmas, but obviously the downside is that you have to wait until the very last minute for a tree and then you are taking a punt on them doing it again/any trees left/only sorry looking ones left.

Argos Have Minnie, mickey, dalmation and furby stompeez slippers in (£15.29 - £16.99).

Probably not a bargain as such, but I haven't seen the character ones before so thought I'd share.

iloveholidays I wouldn't bother with the swimming ariel doll. It doesn't really swim properly. More like float along on it's side. DD1 had been banging on about getting one for ages and played with it for about 10 mins. Now she's disapointed becasue the bloody thing doesn't stand up!

Frosty - poundland is great for cheap little notebooks - albeit they come with plain covers but to me that's better as the dc get to draw a nice picture on the front (that's my line and I'm sticking to it!) - a pound for about 8-10 little ones or about 3 reporters size. They also have mini colouring/dot to dot books in a pack of 8. Just cheapy (as you'd expect at 8 for a pound!) but when we went away on holiday I took some with me to pull out for the dc to entertain them in restaurants or quiet moments and they seemed to be one of the highlights of the holiday (who needs disneyland when you have a poundland colouring book ) But if they like colouring then they are small enough to do at a table or to have in your handbag and easy to produce as a distractor plus not worry about them being done quickly.

if you want cuter little ones, when I was doing party bags, best place to get a pack of them was toys r us bizarrely. Or do a search for them on ebay, also cheap. Plus if you are near a sainsburys they have some on offer with 70% off at the moment. (basically clearing out all their summer designs ready for the winter ones), some suitable for kids, others more grown up.

Huge thanks to whoever first highlighted the flavourly box ours arrived today and think we'll stick with the subscription for a while OH has already had bacon jam toast and dinner was Thai red curry... Plus our lunchboxes are filled with goodies for tomorrow yum yum! Thank you very much

oreo we got one of the Ikea christmas trees free last year - and it must have been at least a week before christmas because dh and I had popped down there for other stuff and we didn't have the dc with us as they were still at school.

There were still loads of decent trees left - we got one and stuck it into a pot of compost to decorate outside our front door - it was still there and green in June! We had to repot it, at which point it turned bronze but the needles are all still there (as are most of the new roots that grew, despite it having just a stump not a rootball). We're hoping that come the spring it will just grow new needles - it's definitely not dead as the needles are still firmly on the branches.

Of course that's not to say that there will be loads of trees this year - if they ended up giving loads away last year they might scale back the number they cut down this year...
