Hi all,

Many thanks to all of you who have reported this thread to us.

We're really sorry to see that this thread has caused huge upset for a lot of people. It is definitely not in the spirit of Mumsnet or Christmas.

Can we just remind you all of the talk guidelines. Being deliberately inflammatory, making personal attacks or just generally making people's lives harder is not on.

We have deleted everything we feel is beyond the pale, and hope that the thread can now be restored to its former glory.

Us again

We know a few of you are concerned that we aren't doing enough to prevent people being hounded off the boards. We just wanted to let you know that although you might not be able to see us taking action, we most definitely are.

Moreover, using the name change function to mislead other people about your identity (aka sockpuppeting) on a thread breaks our talk guidelines. Rest assured we will be keeping an eye out for anyone doing this.
