I’m doing things a little differently this time - if lost then see message 2 on the first page for the codes/info collated from previous threads (to save slow loading for those using phones).

Hope this works a bit better and please give me feedback

Hearst magazines are really giving me grief about trying to cancel my magazine subscription.
They are refusing to cancel it, and even though I have been disputing it, they went ahead and took the money from my account yesterday!
I am cross with them now, I had tried to be polite - I hadn't even received my free gift! (Watch).
I have now told them that as they took the money while knowing that I wanted to cancel, I expect the next 2 issues of company magazine, and the free gift, then I will cancel any further direct debits.
Not sure what else to do!

Always if you ring your bank they can refund the money under the direct debit guarantee. However, if you have received one of the magazines then you do owe them the first dd payment so that is why they took it despite having the dispute. What's their reason for not letting you cancel?

Angelabbie best I can find for the Garmin Forerunner 610 is £137.89 on ebay - it's one that's been refurbished by Garmin and comes with a 1 year warranty...but it comes from the US so postage is £27 and I'm not sure whether you'd get hit by taxes when it was posted to the UK. Do you know anyone in the US who's coming over before Christmas???

Angelabbie there's a new one on UK ebay for £171.48 buy it now with free postage - still more than your budget though. Might be worth saving a search on eBay and seeing what comes up.
