What are your 5-6 year old boys asking for for Christmas?

My ds has only asked for a boomerang for Christmas, in sharp contrast to last years list as long as his arm. He's at a loss, I'm at a loss. I've got him a pack of boomerangs, as they'll all be thrown over the fence by the time we're eating our sprouts. What are your boys going crazy for?

DS is 5 1/2. He loves lego - especially Star Wars lego. So far for Christmas he's asked for power ranger toys and some more batman imaginext stuff. I've got him some lego already, and am looking at some playmobil dinosaur toys. His 'main' present will be a new scooter as he's growing out of his mini micro.

So far, family have bought science kit and some playmobil pirates toys.

NaturalBaby · 27/09/2013 23:09

I've not asked him yet, but we have a house full of lego from the last year. I love the imaginext stuff and he's really into playmobil as well.

onadietcokebreak · 27/09/2013 23:17

Lego and Imaginext!

TheWoollybacksWife · 27/09/2013 23:17

DS love superhero costumes and has asked for Superman or Spider-Man.

He has also asked for the Anakin to Darth Vader action figure and he will be getting a new scooter and a new board game as the rest of us are getting fed up of constant Monopoly and Cluedo

BiBiBroccoli · 27/09/2013 23:24

skylanders swap force! He also loves anything Avengers related. I will also be getting him lego and a box of practical jokes (plastic dog poo etc).

He can often be found browsing the argos catalogue with a biro in hand circling things he wants!

PyjamasNotBananas · 28/09/2013 06:23

DS1 has just turned 6. He's getting a lot of Lego city stuff (the airport and aeroplane, helicopter etc) some Hex bugs V2s that can climb vertically and a few craft bits like some paint your own mugs and some new pens.

Needanewsofa · 28/09/2013 06:27

DS has just started drumming lessons at school as he's been asking for a year now. So Father Christmas, aka Grandma, is "kindly" delivering a drum kit . . . . . .

Now that puts everyone else's woes in the shade! Wink

Vajazzler · 28/09/2013 07:03

My ds is 6 nearly 7. He has asked for an iPod touch and a dream phone game

BikeRunSki · 28/09/2013 07:04

Lego

Dolallytats · 28/09/2013 07:51

Star Wars and Ninjago Lego, the Anakin that turns into Darth Vadar (£18 on Amazon instead of the £24.99 most places are charging Woolly!!) and the Imaginext T-Rex......all bought, wrapped and hidden in the cupboard!!

ringaringarosy · 28/09/2013 08:40

my kids dont really ask for stuff they dont really play with toys that much,i tihnk itsbecause theres 2 f them s close together they mostly pretend play, they use dressing up stuff a lot.

ShadeofViolet · 28/09/2013 09:59

A mario backpack and a remote controlled Mario kart.

Don't worry about the list being small - DS1 who is 12 wants a laptop and new trainers. I wish he was as easily pleased Grin

TheOnlyPink · 28/09/2013 10:16

Ds1 has just turned 6 and is asking for an alarm clock, a watch (no idea why he needs both!) and an mp3 player with all his favorite songs on.

I have gotten a Lego set that he doesn't know about but would love, and a 3ds game. Not sure what else to get to pad out the pile!

TheWoollybacksWife · 28/09/2013 10:18

Thanks for the Amazon tip Dolally Grin

Mcnorton · 28/09/2013 10:26

My son has just turned 5. He is asking for everything he sees on telly. He's going to be disappointed unless he gets more specificGrin Grin

pinkandsparklytoo · 28/09/2013 10:37

My 6yo DS has asked for a 3DS with the Lego game, Pokemon game and a Mario Game. He also wants model trains for his trainset, various Lego sets, Angry Birds stuff, and some car he has seen an advert for on Cartoon Network. I'm not sure what I am actually going to get him yet.

NeverQuiteSure · 28/09/2013 10:40

My DS is very nearly 5. The only things he has specifically asked for are a cuddly creeper (minecraft), a big farm combine harvester and one of those magic flannels that expand in water.

BeaWheesht · 28/09/2013 11:44

Ds turns 7 at Christmas so maybe but too old to help but he is getting:

Stunt scooter
Maybe a tablet
Lego ideas book
Scouts code breaking book
Horrible history Egyptian and roman soldiers
Metal detector
Knee and elbow pads
Probably something avengers related
Maybe a go kart

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 28/09/2013 20:37

Thanks, it's tricky because I seem to have the only boy on earth who doesn't like Lego, has never seen the avengers, ironman, transformers (he is too easily scared, just watches things like Jake and the neverland pirates) but if I buy him preschooler toys his friends will take the piss! Confused

DC 5.11 is due to have his 6th birthday soon - he will get additional playmobil [pirate/house/emergency services] more lego city stuff [to add to his train set and lego sets. I have also bought some deadly 60 books.

He loves his playmobil. lego and occasionally his brio train set, as well as bike riding/scooter. We are into all things Scooby doo. Fave tv shows are deadly 60, Nina and the neurons so we can build on those with horrible science sets etc.

Am also getting some more chapter books to enjoy.

YoniBottsBumgina · 28/09/2013 20:49

Lego.
"Things I can do science with"
"Things to do art with"
iPad Hmm
Cars - like matchbox cars - perhaps a micro machines playset kind of thing might work for you?
Trains/bits for his train set.
Games for his DS console (Mario & Sonic a big hit at the moment)
Board games? DS hasn't asked for these but he's getting one for his birthday, it's a good age for them as they're coming out of the really boring ones. Lots of suggestions on past threads.
Anything doctor who related.

DS hasn't seen Star Wars or Avengers or any of the Spiderman films etc but is obsessed with the characters even though he doesn't really know who they are.

YoniBottsBumgina · 28/09/2013 20:50

Sticker books are always a big hit here too.

OvO · 28/09/2013 20:52

A slushie cup
A boat with a shark

He's easily pleased! Grin

capercaillie · 28/09/2013 20:54

Lego. More Lego. Then really expensive Lego.

Wondering about scalectrix - he doesn't know this exists but would love it

Books - ones about weather and how the world works

NeverQuiteSure · 28/09/2013 20:58

To all those who have Lego-mad DC, especially those who prefer free building to model building; have you tried branching out into k'nex for a bit of a change?

Brilliant stuff, comparatively cheap and hurts marginally less when trodden on.
