Special festive title for spottyteacakes Grin . Here we go people, the THIRD bargain Christmas thread for 2013 already . Please forgive the fact that so many sale and amazon products aren?t individually linked or are linked but price may since change by the time you click on it - so many of them are out of stock and amazon seem to change prices on an almost hourly basis (it feels like) on a number of items that were previously linked to. As usual please tell me if any of these links/codes don?t work or if there?s anything particularly you want to be in the next OP (assuming there is another Wink ) how would I do any shopping without you now

Thanks for all your help in helping my christmas shopping in 2013 be once again bargainous Grin

Anyone know a cheaper way of shipping from the US?

DS1 has decided the one thing he wants more than anything else is some Toy Story squinkies but you cant get them over here without paying a fortune (which we dont have!)

On American sites though they're not terribly expensive but they're sold out on Uk Amazon and and so expensive on Uk Ebay

Not sure where else to look?

TeaAndCakeOrDeath · 23/08/2013 07:32

Girl fingers crossed! I'll keep an eye out on the books for you, sure you've more important thing to be thinking about atm!

SpottyTeacakes · 23/08/2013 07:37

Tea shipping from the us is usually quite cheap just be wary of customs charges. Will US amazon ship to uk? Have you tried eBay.com then you can email the seller and get a quote. Many will mark as a gift under $20 so you can avoid customs charges (please note this is illegal Wink)

Robot gate:
So you might remember I was convinced I had ordered 3 robots and paid etc, but when I logged back into my account there they were, sitting back in my basket at full price.

I called the bank and they confirmed there was a transaction awaiting debit to the company (so I wasn't going mad!). Called Hope and the woman on the phone was pretty clueless. Kept asking for a catalogue code or an order number. She eventually found it in the catalogue, still listed at £10.99 so was about to put another order through for me until she notices that in the system it's now at £40 odd plus vat. Quickly changes her tune and says it must be a pricing error. (Doh).

Anyway, turns out that despite me paying on line and getting a confirmation page on their website, my order never went through. I don't have an order number or confirmation email. She gave me the impression that if I had that I would be fine, but it was probably to get me off the phone.
She gave me some bullshit about the computer realising there was an error so didn't finalise my order. Thought I was fighting a losing battle so have given up on the robots.

Went and ordered some nice things on ELC in their sale tho, so thanks for that link.

Received my order from verbaudet and its going straight back. A useless branded sports bag and some quite expensive (even with their discount) dungarees which look too thin for winter and quite small.

TeaAndCakeOrDeath · 23/08/2013 07:40

Spotty Yes Amazon will...but at twice the price of the thing themselves! They're only tiny bits of plastic/rubber, they cannot weigh that much!

I need an American friend!

Oreocrumbs · 23/08/2013 07:43

Mint, I have the same dates as you and the email is still the same, I don't think it ever said the date, but the hope site still has me down as dispatching on the 29th.

SpottyTeacakes · 23/08/2013 07:43

Tea there are plenty of American mumsnetters I'm sure one of them would do it for you Smile

m0nkeynuts · 23/08/2013 07:53

My email re robot just says delivery in 1-2 weeks (which is what it always said) but the online order status has 29/08 as the 'despatch date'.

iloveholidays · 23/08/2013 08:11

spotty... is it too early to start the Christmas eve hamper thread??? Grin

I'm also looking forward to the Christmas decorations thread as we're doing Christmas at home for the first year this year so want to get some more ideas.

also will need ideas for elf... 3 threads waiting to happen Grin

SpottyTeacakes · 23/08/2013 08:24

I think it is a bit early! I will be there once it's started though Wink suppose I have to do ds one this year...

98percentchocolate · 23/08/2013 08:25

Hello! As we are only 7 pages from the end of the thread and a lot of the last few pages have been us talking about robotgate, I've started a dedicated thread here to save Reastie having to write another mega op just days after the last one!!
Hope nobody minds!

JustasmallGless · 23/08/2013 08:26

Tea - have you checked b and m or home bargains. They have had squinkies in (DD is obsessed!!).

iloveholidays · 23/08/2013 08:44

spotty... maybe I can get away with starting them on 1st September.. only just over a week away. Grin I was talking to DP about Christmas last night and even he is getting excited!

TeaAndCakeOrDeath · 23/08/2013 08:46

Yea, Just I've looked all over! The one nearest to me only had fairy/princess/pink animal ones whereas DS really wants the Toy Story ones...he keeps pointing to them and saying "Santa bring me these cos I've been a good boy?" Santa will be severely in the dog house if I cant get them!

Spotty How would I ask an American MN'tter? I feel really cheeky!

SpottyTeacakes · 23/08/2013 08:50

Just start a thread in chat titled 'could a lovely american mnetter make my ds' Christmas' then right a begging post Smile I bet someone will. I would do it if it was the other way round.

I think 1st September is acceptable. Dp is not excited for Christmas until after his birthday on 18th December Hmm

iloveholidays · 23/08/2013 08:51

sorry can't link on phone I don't think

iloveholidays · 23/08/2013 09:03
