Special festive title for spottyteacakes Grin . Here we go people, the THIRD bargain Christmas thread for 2013 already . Please forgive the fact that so many sale and amazon products aren?t individually linked or are linked but price may since change by the time you click on it - so many of them are out of stock and amazon seem to change prices on an almost hourly basis (it feels like) on a number of items that were previously linked to. As usual please tell me if any of these links/codes don?t work or if there?s anything particularly you want to be in the next OP (assuming there is another Wink ) how would I do any shopping without you now

Thanks for all your help in helping my christmas shopping in 2013 be once again bargainous Grin

Thank you MrsSheepiness and 98percent. I'm prepared for them now and will try my best to get them to honour the sale. My DS saw the Robot today and was pleading for me to buy it, so I need to try for his sake.

BumpKitty · 22/08/2013 16:59

thank you for this thread it is great. I also ordered the robot but didn't put a phone number on the account so they can't ring me. I would have thought that, aside from the acknowledgment/confirmation issue, the fact they have taken the money means they have accepted the contract to buy? Anyway, my real question is what are people who haven't put a phone number down doing? I don't really want to call them but I have a feeling they will refund us and that will be that :(

SpottyTeacakes · 22/08/2013 17:06

Bump I've emailed so will let you know what they say. Unfortunately the fact that they've debited your account doesn't mean anything

iloveholidays · 22/08/2013 17:10

I feel ready to kick up a fuss now. Thank you. just need to make sure I know what I'm talking about as I doubt the person on the end of phone does!!! threaten with taking legal advice too :)

98percentchocolate · 22/08/2013 17:14

Yeah unfortunately taking the money out of the account doesn't constitute finalising the contract so if they'd been sending official order confirmation emails at time of dispatch too then they could legally get away with it. Unfortunately (for them) it looks like they don't know what they're doing and are trying to get themselves out of a mess they've created.

iloveholidays · 22/08/2013 17:18

so 98 are you suggesting that we know they aren't sending out confirmations and therefore the acknowledgement is forming a contract?

iloveholidays · 22/08/2013 17:19

out of interest do you work in legal?

iloveholidays · 22/08/2013 17:24

when I say suggesting, I mean suggesting we say to them. I'm not challenging what you've said... I'm an accountant, have no idea about legal stuff although the whole stuff just doesn't sit comfortably with me

98percentchocolate · 22/08/2013 17:25

That's what I'm going to tell them when they ring me. Normally it wouldn't finalise it if they were sending out the official emails too but in this case that and the wording leads the customer to think that the contract is finalised which creates a loophole in our favour.

Nope, not legal! I just have a lot of time on my hands with dd goes down for her nap and I'm supposed to be doing housework!

I've been getting all my info from a couple of websites courtesy of google Grin.

These are them:

uk e commerce law

pricing errors

Tbh I have no idea what I'm talking about really but the above should make it sound like I do (it persuaded you anyway!!) so I'm banking on them not knowing anything either and backing off

98percentchocolate · 22/08/2013 17:27

Don't worry, I thought that's what you meant Wink

The whole thing doesn't sit well with me either. I run a couple of websites and you have to be so careful with wording. They just haven't got a clue really!

SpottyTeacakes · 22/08/2013 17:28

When I worked in online retail we didn't bother with any small print and would just suck it up Grin

iloveholidays · 22/08/2013 17:31

well they've not called me back yet and I'm only assuming it was the missed call I had earlier. I'm off out for dinner tonight as it's my birthday but planning to have a quick look into it tonight ready for a call tomorrow. tempted to post a query in the legal forum, a solicitor might be online tonight and post.

lazzaroo · 22/08/2013 17:35

Yes spotty I was hoping for the tea set. And I'm rubbish at returning things so doubt I'll ever get round to it! Interested to see what response your e-mail gets. I am in 2 minds about whether I should be more pro-active & make contact with them.

On the plus side, my other smiths bundles arrived today with lots of lovely books.

Bluetinkerbell · 22/08/2013 17:39

That's not my bundle, back in stock at WhSmith for £12.99! :)

iloveholidays · 22/08/2013 17:47

I've posted a thread in legal matters about the robot. we'll see what comes of it... I'm out tonight but will check when back. on phone and not sure how to link!!!

yellowsun · 22/08/2013 17:48

This isn't the first time Hope have messed up. A couple of years a go I and lots others took advantage of a spend £36 and get £30 off and free delivery code. So I got loads for £5! They cancelled some orders even though some people had already received them. They rang some people up and demanded more money after their parcel had been delivered! No one contacted me and I kept it. You would think they would learn by now!

iloveholidays · 22/08/2013 17:52

that's interesting to know yellow

SpottyTeacakes · 22/08/2013 17:56

Thanks Blue I've ordered!

TeaAndCakeOrDeath · 22/08/2013 18:09

It wouldnt let me check out with those 'thats not my...' books in my basket and now the website has crashed...very Angry

BuffyFairy · 22/08/2013 18:26

Thanks Blue, I've ordered that and a couple of other bundles. Tea I had that problem around 6ish but it worked soon after.

Happy birthday iloveholidays

GirlWithTheYellowHat · 22/08/2013 18:29

I can't get the books to check out either, keeps taking me back to the secure log in and loops round and round. Grrrr Angry

CatAmongThePigeons · 22/08/2013 18:39

I've namechanged, but have posted before and ordered the flipping robot.

Hope can cancel their orders at any time but AFAIK acceptance is on either acknowlegment of their order or on posting the item-

TeaAndCakeOrDeath · 22/08/2013 18:47

Girl getting that too, frustrating isnt it?

iloveholidays · 22/08/2013 18:49

Seems odd they don't reference the order acknowledgement in the terms and conditions.
