Special festive title for spottyteacakes Grin . Here we go people, the THIRD bargain Christmas thread for 2013 already . Please forgive the fact that so many sale and amazon products aren?t individually linked or are linked but price may since change by the time you click on it - so many of them are out of stock and amazon seem to change prices on an almost hourly basis (it feels like) on a number of items that were previously linked to. As usual please tell me if any of these links/codes don?t work or if there?s anything particularly you want to be in the next OP (assuming there is another Wink ) how would I do any shopping without you now

Thanks for all your help in helping my christmas shopping in 2013 be once again bargainous Grin

Thanks Jam, ill keep an eye out!

Oreocrumbs · 21/08/2013 20:20

Ooo those bottles are pretty nutty! Think they will do for my gin Grin.

Ijustneedanap - it couldn't be easier, wash and sterilise a kilner jar (put it in the oven to sterilise), buy cheap vodka or gin or any spirit, add sugar and fruit, et voila! drunk mothers in the garden with afternoon gin until at east easter! (ahem, that is not what my neighbour and I do, honestly).

Sloe gin - fill jar with sloes (have to prick them), half fill with sugar add gin leave for 6 months to a year.

I make plum gin, just the same but ready in 3 months.

I haven't made, but it is always reported as successful is sweetie vodka. Just vodka and boiled sweets, taste at 2 months, maybe add sugar if not sweet enough. The sweets dissolve.

I made Christmas pudding vodka last year, basically all fruit and spice ingredients that you would use for a pudding, more brown sugar and vodka. I wasn't overly impressed, won't make it again, but then I don't like Christmas pud Hmm!

There are really good recipes and threads on here about them, but if you want to make some for Christmas they need to be started in the next month.

looking for lego and harry potter bargains. will share if find any Smile

ValiumQueen · 21/08/2013 20:35

Mars bar vodka is to die for! You need to heat it otherwise it does not dissolve properly, but it is awesome (wipes drool off iPad) although it does look like diarrhoea.

attheendoftheday · 21/08/2013 20:40

So, sweetie vodka - do you literally just put sweeties in the vodka and leave it? What kind of sweets work? And how many do I put in?

Sorry for the thread hijack, but I need to know!

MooseyMoo · 21/08/2013 20:49

There is a home made thread here

I've made the everlasting vanilla essence and limoncello Grin

ValiumQueen · 21/08/2013 20:55

Werthers are fab too.

Oreocrumbs · 21/08/2013 20:58

Sweetie vodka - I'll have a look and see if there is a recipe with some quantities for you but basically yes you want to crush them up a bit (not powder just smaller bits) and leave them to dissolve. About 3 months.

You can make an nistant version too,
1L of cheap vodka
1/2 lb boiled sweets

crush sweets and cover with boiling water and stir to dissolve, you now have a syrup, add to vodka and drink.

I'm going to have a bash at worther's original vodka this year.

There is a thread called home made Christmas - covering all kinds of crafts and recipes that someone starts at the very end of August in the Christmas topic so keep an eye out for that too. And of course FN's poncetastic thread, but I think that is slightly later.

Oreocrumbs · 21/08/2013 20:59

Ah Moosey, my NDN makes cakes, so we really do have a good thing going on!

sameoldIggi · 21/08/2013 21:03

The V Tech cars are cheaper in Amazon - 14.99.
I'm watching them in the hope of a five pound bargain like last year!

Bangonthedoor · 21/08/2013 21:09

So im starting to collect stocking fillers for DD. Anyone know of anything going extra cheap? Looking to sort of spend £1-2 per item.

iloveholidays · 21/08/2013 21:13

BangOnTheDoor, how old is DD?

nuttybean · 21/08/2013 21:15

Witchesbrewandbiscuits - have a look in your nearest stores for lego www.argos.co.uk/static/ArgosClearance

IJustNeedANap · 21/08/2013 21:17

Wow thanks Oreo and moosey. I'm going to give a few things ago I thinki just need to find some jars.

Will cheap vodka work just as good or I need to buy other stuff to make it last? Also sorry might be a stupid question but if I made stuff this weekend and left it until Christmas it wouldn't go bad would it?
