Where can I buy an enormous Teddy Bear?

I wasn't sure where to post this question, but then I thought of you nutters! I'm looking for a gigantic but tasteful Teddy to buy for a friend of mine who has just had her first baby after many many years of miscarriage heartache. I wanted to go all out, but am not sure where to find a nice one? Any ideas?

Not giant but Charlie Bears are fab quality and gorgeous, they do a bear for the year too which would be a lovely keepsake.

Yes, I was going to suggest Costco too. They are huge.

I would definately be sure that they have the space for it and will definately love it as it's a big thing to store otherwise!

I think it's lovely that you want to go all out but I would be 100% sure that this is something they would really want before you decide what to get!

Why a giant one? I was given a huge panda as a birthday present about 20 years ago and it has moved house and country with me several times. The only reason I don't get rid of it is because I am such a big softie and too sentimental but tbh it is a pain and gathers so much dust that it makes me sneeze every time I go near it. It's been through the washing machine a few times which helps but I could never let any of the kids actually play with it so it has essentially served as a giant dust catcher for all of those years!

SparklyStream · 02/04/2013 21:43

Ann - why a big one? I guess i just want to make a fuss. This baby has been so patiently waited for by them....

I take your points though - bit of a pain after the initial novelty. Any other ideas?

My children love their Harrodsburg bears (even though we are in Scotland). They are special because it has the year of their birth on. !

montage · 02/04/2013 21:48

Name a star etc are nice if they like that sort of thing?

nemno · 02/04/2013 21:48

I'm with annh, ours was a pain till I toughened up and ditched it. And one of DS's best friends was terrified of it and I had to remember to hide it before he came round (often). But it is terrific about your friends and your desire to do something nice.

Give a Harrods dated one instead. We got a 6ft Barney when dd was born, it took over half her room and she was bloody terrified of it. We couldn't even get rid of the bugger, the local charity shop / playgroups, etc. efused to take it.
It's still in the cellar; scaring all the meter readers.

montage · 02/04/2013 21:57

We had one which I was also too guilty to let go of. Until I inadvertently discovered it was actually a regift and I could happily release it. Delighted I was! Grin

3MonthMaid · 02/04/2013 21:57

The harrods bear with the year is always a nice gift...

"We got a 6ft Barney when dd was born, it took over half her room and she was bloody terrified of it."

I seriously don't blame her.

Someone on ebay would probably go mad for that though I would make it collection only

There was a huge bear as a raffle prize in the schools summer fayre last year. All the parents really did not want it.

I knew someone who had a MASSIVE teddy in their large house.(think the size of a white appliance) Apparently the previous owners of her brothers house had left it there. As she had DC and he didn't. he gave it to her as a gift.

Costco (though there stock will change so they might not still have them. You could look online too)

I saw loads of giant bears being strapped into seatbelts for the journey home.
No going into the boot for these boys.
