....and is sat eve too early? It has to include boxing day stuff!

OP posts:
icovetthee · 19/12/2012 00:28

I'm doing mine Friday to avoid the big crowds so I don't think it's too early. I've already got the general weekly bits so Friday is the Christmas shop.

mrsfollowill · 19/12/2012 00:36

I have been very organised this year and I am having a delivery on fri am of all the basics- all the heavy stuff and alcohol Xmas Grin I'm going for fresh bread and salad on Sunday- maybe a few other bits. I'm not cooking Xmas lunch but have a Boxing Day buffet to do. Starting to panic slightly but I'm working up to and including Xmas Eve (only til 3.00pm ish though)

inchoccyheaven · 19/12/2012 01:20

I have all the frozen stuff but need to get the fresh veg, salad etc and can't decide whether to go Sat or Sunday. Either way it's going to be horrible :(

SantaIAmSoFuckingRock · 19/12/2012 01:27

i did mine yesterday and Asda was packed. hope i dont have to go in again for anything.

georgie22 · 19/12/2012 01:39

Planning to get to the shops as they open on Sunday morning - unfortunately this will probably be the plans of thousands of others!! There's not going to be a good time between now and Christmas but at least I can go and leave dd at home with dh!!

SoggySummer · 19/12/2012 02:05

I just need my veg now and thats it.
Maybe bread and milk.

Probably aim to get it locally from a Greengrocer than face the masses at the supermarket.

SantaIAmSoFuckingRock - are you doing Xmas dinner?/ Have you frozen your veg???

My mate was telling me this week all her veg is prepped and in the freezer already. Never thought of doing that myself but I do enjoy prepping my veg etc Xmas eve day time with the radio on. Thats usually when I start to feel Xmassey.

BahSaidPaschaHumbug · 19/12/2012 06:17

Booked delivery for sun am. No way am I choosing to set foot in a supermarket other than that. Might get DH to do a small shop on thurs 27th for essentials.

poachedeggs · 19/12/2012 06:32

It's coming on Saturday night. I'm skipping the usual Wednesday shop so we can make room in the freezer for several days worth of bread and milk and all the extra ice cream and stuff. Unfortunately this means a crossover period before the turkey and the duck can be liberated.

Tomorrow night I gut the cupboards.

pottedshrimp · 19/12/2012 06:34

dekivery sunday

ginmakesitallok · 19/12/2012 06:34

Think we'll do it on Sunday. I have NOTHING yet - well apart from the cake and pudding...

AnAirOfHopeInAManger · 19/12/2012 06:38

I was coming on to ask this as well Xmas Grin

I get paid today and i have to.do the normal week shopping and xmas shopping together and was woundering the best day and time to go.

I was thinking about going 11pm on Friday or 6am Saturday?

Dolallytats · 19/12/2012 06:51

We're getting our delivery on Sunday morning-booked it so that if some bits don't turn up, DH can get to the supermarket as it opens!!

MummyPig24 · 19/12/2012 07:00

I ordered a delivery to come tomorrow night. We aren't having Christmas dinner here. Just having dad and brother for breakfast on Christmas day so have ordered pastries and fruit. The rest of the stuff is normal food with a few bits in case we have guests or for us to enjoy. Have ordered a bottle of prosecco for Dp and I to enjoy on christmas eve.

Chottie · 19/12/2012 07:10

As a full time worker, it will be Christmas Eve.

BikeRunSki · 19/12/2012 18:48

Hopefully Tesco will be delivering it tommorow evening. i'll get bread locally on Monday. Massive deliveries from greengrocer and milkman due on Monday.

LauriesFairyonthetreeeatsCake · 19/12/2012 18:50

Ocado delivering Sunday. Just have to update the list or I will end up with 18 bottles of champagne and some dog food Grin

Nat38 · 19/12/2012 18:54

Fiday am! Get the kids off to school & then Im going-probably be in Tescos about 8.30 am

ChristmasIsAcumenin · 19/12/2012 18:54

I book mine in October/November, delivered on Christmas Eve morning 8am.

scurryfunge · 19/12/2012 18:55

I have had two deliveries in the last week for all the non perishable stuff. DH has been tasked with buying fruit, veg, meat stuff in Scotland for his return at the weekend. If he is doesn't manage to get it back to the South East we are stuffed as I am working til tea time on Christmas Eve.

drummerswife · 19/12/2012 18:59

did mine today
dh ordered meat from local farm shop to be picked up sunday morning and he will then pick veg and salad up too
only things that had rubbish dates on were deli cheeses and dips [for dh's hamper] so i'll pop to tesco friday morning after the school run to get those and extra bread and milk

wonkylegs · 19/12/2012 18:59

I did mine yesterday, have pencilled in a top up on Friday for salad & fresh bread.
We have a house full of visitors from Thurs night though and we aren't having Xmas dinner here.

CherryTheRedNosedReindeer · 19/12/2012 19:05

i am going at 10am sunday morning to saisnburys with my mum. i will be there when it opens.

OhYouMerryLittleKitten · 19/12/2012 19:08

We've done most of it already. Pick up the turkey Christmas Eve. Milk and stuff on Saturday, veggies coming in a veg box.

HousewifefromBethlehem · 19/12/2012 19:14

Ocado are delivering mine Christmas Eve at 11am. Had a call today to say that one of the turkeys in my basket wouldn't be delivered. As I've got 4 others in my basket to choose from I'm not too worried Xmas Blush

UnexpectedItemInShaggingArea · 19/12/2012 19:17

Mine is done - today at lunchtime, it was fairly quiet in the shops.

Veg is coming from the garden, milkman is delivering on Monday and I will be baking bread as and when needed.

I plan to next step foot inside a supermarket in January or tomorrow when I go through my list properly and realise I have forgotten most of it
