Where does Father Christmas leave the presents in your house?

Does he put everyone's presents under the tree or do the children have their own pile somewhere eg. on the couch?

Does he put them in sacks? Are the stockings filled on the end of the LO's beds, or do they end up next to all the other stuff?

Ow it's getting close!

my dd's are in separate piles near the tree and the stockings hung on the sideboard near the tree Xmas Smile Im very excited!

fourbears · 16/12/2012 17:11

Each DC has a pillowcase of presents with their name pinned on, on the sofa. Socks sellotaped to the fireplace with a few sweets, satsuma, 20p and then a big stocking with little presents next to the pillowcase. I'm so excited, I have the feeling Father Christmas has found some brilliant presents this year!! It used to be the same when I was growing up. Lovely to carry it on! Xmas Smile

thegreylady · 16/12/2012 17:20

stockings full of little presents at the foot of the bed and big presents under the tree in a pile.

EverybodysSnowyEyed · 16/12/2012 17:27

Stockings and a present from Santa go on the hearth next to te empty plate!

Presents go in piles per person except for people who are here who hand them out to the receiver themselves

BluelightsAndSirens · 16/12/2012 17:29

Pillow case outside each bedroom door and then all the other presents pilled under the tree in no order at all.

BahSaidPaschaHumbug · 16/12/2012 17:31

In a small stocking at the end of the bed. Wrapped presents are from people and go under the tree.

dishwashervodkaanddietirnbru · 16/12/2012 17:33

stocking hung on bedroom door handle and presents used to be under the tree (and strewn across the floor) but last year we gave them a couch each for presents (luckily we only have 2 children!)

41notTrendy · 16/12/2012 17:34

All presents in a Santa sack at the end of ds's bed. All gifts for grown ups under the tree. DH thinks I'm barmy doing this (it's what mum and dad did with me) because if ds wakes up anytime after we've gone to bed, he'll want to open them. We've got through 6 Christmases without that happening...Grin

OryxCrake · 16/12/2012 17:34

Stockings (with wrapped presents but FC paper not used for any other gifts) on the end of beds here (well they were until our hulking teens started staying up later than us so now they're left outside bedroom doors). All other presents under the tree and labelled from the givers.

SantaWearsGreen · 16/12/2012 18:40

They each have a sack in the front room by the tree. Bigger ones I don't bother wrapping, they just sit exposed under the tree.

OhTheConfusion · 16/12/2012 19:43

Everyone has a stocking hung on the end of DH and I's bed... we all hop in together to open them in the morning.

We used to leave 'piles' for each DC on chairs, sofa etc but found they opened it all and it was over too quickly so now santa wraps all gifts (in special paper) and pops them under the tree with the other gifts and DH hands them out to everyone.

chocolateicecream · 16/12/2012 20:49

I love the idea of the stocking gifts at the end of your bed OhTheConfusion. Sounds like a lovely way to start the day. I have always put my girls gifts in sacks on separate couches. My Dd1 wants Mr C to put them all under the tree so we will probably go with that idea this year.

(Jumbo sack type) stockings at the end of the bed dragged into parents bed. then we each take it in turns to unwrap one at a time (including parents who do each other a stocking) so it lasts for ages. That's how we did it when we were small and how I plan to do it with my DD although she's only 18mo.

When we had bigger presents like bikes or a trampoline Father Christmas used to leave us a treasure trail of clues around the house to find them.

Then we had tree presents from family after lunch to spread it out a bit. Happy memories Grin

WorkingtoohardMama · 16/12/2012 21:10

Father Christmas fills a sack for each child, I would like them to be at the end of their beds, but dh thinks its too risky, so empty sacks are left on the landing and FC leaves the presents there!

Our presents for the children are put under the tree, as are gifts from anyone else....

Love hearing how other people do christmas!

DewDr0p · 16/12/2012 21:14

Stockings hung on the fireplaces in their rooms, all opened in our bed.

Big presents on the hearth downstairs. We love all creeping down together to see what he's brought Grin

piprabbit · 16/12/2012 21:15

He fills the pillowcase in the DCs bedrooms, most of these pressies are from us but he does add a couple of his own as extras. These get dragged into our room and opened in our bed in the pre-dawn dark.

He leaves the bigger presents under the tree, but these are all from us/family etc. Santa doesn't do big presents around here. These are opened after breakfast.

He is entirely responsible for the contents of the DCs stockings. These are opened after lunch.

Sometimes Santa seems to get muddled and leaves presents at the GPs houses under their trees by mistake. It's lucky we go around visiting them all so we can sort out the muddle.

Greige · 16/12/2012 21:39

Stocking on the end of the bed, bigger presents a pile under the tree, one side for each child. This has the added bonus of keeping DD in her room a bit longer :)

Usually family pressies would also be there but DP doesn't like that idea so, this year, Santa will leave his presents under the tree and family presents will be opened later in the day.

Loueytb3 · 16/12/2012 22:04

Stockings on the end of their beds (which is how we did it when we were kids except DH's family didn't do stockings cos they were weird )

One present each from Father Christmas (off their list) wrapped in paper only used by FC in front of the fireplace.

All other presents under the tree.

Its getting hard to find places to hide them as they're getting older. Every box from Amazon that arrives they scrutinise and want to know what's in it. There is only so many times I can say its for someone else!!

Doinmummy · 16/12/2012 22:24

Father Christmas leaves DD14's presents in a pillow case at the end of her bed. He is getting a bit fed up now though as she doesn't go to bed very early any more so he has to wait ages until she is asleep.

birthdaypanic · 16/12/2012 22:32

All pressies left in each bedroom then dragged into mine and dh bedroom dd's climbed into bed and we open together. This continued until dd's left home/partners moved in. I loved the way we did it but wouldn't reccommend it as some years it was early morning before dcs fell asleep and pressies could be left.
My dd and dgs live with us so luckily she has listened to my advise and pressies are left in lounge all over floor because there are so many. DGS leaves empty sack on bed and Santa collects it and fills it downstairs.
I love Christmas and it is always me that can't sleep.

bedmonster · 16/12/2012 22:53

FC leaves sacks on beds and then their main present from him is downstairs by the fireplace. Presents from us/other family/friends all under the tree.
It's getting harder as they get older (although DD is 8 and doesn't believe, she shares a room with her sister, 7, who still does and we need to wait til they all settle down and fall asleep before creeping in to leave the presents) so I do wish in a way that we'd just started by leaving their sacks downstairs.

WhoKnowsWhereTheMistletoes · 16/12/2012 22:57

Stockings with small gifts on the ends of beds, everything else downstairs piled round the hearth and Christmas tree.

TooWetToWoo · 16/12/2012 23:23

In our house, FC leaves a stocking at the end of the bed. Then all the other presents are left downstairs in a pile for each person but they're from each other. After those have been opened, either me or DP 'notices' some presents have been left in the conservatory which are their main presents left by FC.

JoInScotland · 16/12/2012 23:31

We live in a Victorian house, and although nearly every room has a fireplace, most of them are blocked up.... when we're rich, we'll get a working fireplace in the sitting room!

However, the only one that is still operation is in the kitchen, so we clean that all up on Christmas Eve, and hang the stockings from the mantel in there, with a note to Santa Claus/Father Christmas (we're a dual national family!) about where the Christmas tree is. Santa leaves small items, an apple, an orange and a handful of nuts in each stocking and one big item for children - one year it was a sled for DS, a different year it was a tricycle, this year it is a tea set with little cakes and cinnamon rolls .... I Mrs Claus really needs to crack on with the desserts for this set!

JoInScotland · 16/12/2012 23:31

I would leave stockings at the foot of the bed, as happened in our family when I was growing up, but my son has bat-like hearing and wakes at the slightest noise, so.... different tradition now....
