What do you have for breakfast on Christmas morning

Cant decide between

bacon, eggs, sausages, leftover ham if we have that christmas eve, black pudding, grilled cherry plum tomatoes

Or scrambled egg and smoked salmon

Or omelettes.

Have heard of people having duck and quail eggs. Do you have them fried, poached or scrambled?

Growing up it was the one day of the year mum let us have cooked breakfast so normally bacon sarnies, sweets and chocolate. A huge treat for us Xmas Smile

This year is DH and mine first year on our own so we'll probably plan to have nice warm croissants and/or cinammon buns then end up oversleeping, throwing on any old clothes and running off to church arriving just in time and missing breakfast!

We always had dippy eggs. For years, at my Mum's and then I carried on the tradition.

I have FINALLY come to my senses and realised that everyone's a bit meh about them and they are a MASSIVE hassle as everyone HAS to come to the table at the right nanosecond otherwise they are too soft/hard.

So it toasted panettone and sliced oranges this year. If DH and DD whine I may make some scrambled eggs.

But as all the others say they will be scoffing stocking chocolate, nibbly smoked fish stuff and snacks at midday and then massive lunch at 3ish, so breakfast is pretty unnecessary really.

How do you cut your panettone? I often end up with a crumbly mess

We used to have Pillsbury cinnamon rolls when I was a kid. My brother and I did them when I got old enough to use the oven, because all you have to do is pop them out of the can and put them into a cake pan. I'll be making a homemade version with pumpkin from scratch for Christmas and Boxing Day morning. Xmas Smile

Will be pancakes this year, with fruit, whipped cream and chocolate sauce (I draw the line at ice cream though - sorry DH!). We have had fry ups in the past but the DCs really don't enjoy that so it was pointless.

I may also do grilled grapefruit for myself, I love it.

By the time my DC and guests get up I will be well into prep for the main event meal for 17. No way can my kitchen then be available for breakfast. I am so Envy at all the civilised breakfast plans.

Homemade granola and croissants. And DS can have as much chocolate as he wants!

To be eaten with Hot Chocolate and Lindt Truffles :)

Chocolate mainly the theme.

Never been up to us before (first Christmas at home this year). Worst was breakfast at my nan's a few years ago: soggy toast with marg, cereal with UHT, decaffeinated tea. DH and I were both hungover, this did not help Xmas Grin

Think I will do fruit salad and bagels this year. And fizz, of course.

TerraNotSoFirma - What is strata? Do you have a recipe to link to?

EnglishGirlApproximately and Lulabellarama I like the idea of eggs benedict. Do you have it with muffins/bagels/toast or just the eggs, ham and hollandaise sauce?

Think I will definitely start off with grilled grapefruit (maybe sprinkled with cinnamon) melon, raspberries, strawberries and blueberries with extra thick double cream.

Then something warm.

With champagne and liquer coffees with brandy, rum, whiskey. Yum!

Very little. My DH has a grapefruit tradition in his family so we have that, along with nice yoghurt and porridge for DH and the children. Between visiting and eating dinner, its a very full day!
