What's the oddest thing DC have asked for, and did they get it?

Years ago DS asked for a yellow suit. Was v young & couldn't describe it but wanted it for months.
I bought him some thermal longjohns & a vest & dyed them bright yellow with dylon along with a pillow case that I attached as a cape. I got some red felt and cut it into his initial & attached it to the front with wonderweb.
He was delighted with it on Christmas morning & then never wore it Confused
DD has asked for a diamond maker this year - I've told her if she manages to get one I'd quite like a few diamonds myself.

Last year DS was adamant he wants A GREEN present.
He got one - was chuffed. By the colour of the wrapping paper.
In his defence he was 3...

WildOnes - Talking of helping the poorer children our two have enjoyed the tradition of doing one of those Christmas shoe-boxes with Operation Christmas Child - usually through their school though many churches take part too. You fill a shoe-box with toys and other helpful presents and it gets sent off to a poorer part of the world, with the hope that more children will have at least one Christmas parcel to open. Our DC's tend to include some of their own good as new things though technically I think it's all supposed to be "new" stuff. It's been a really good project to take part in and has really added to their sense of perspective and empathy. This year DD (13) did the box entirely on her own, including wrapping it too.
You can track where it goes these days too, which is a nice touch.
So, perhaps something to consider for next year ?

When my DS was about 3 all he wanted was a lion and a stick. Not to used in conjunction in a lion training way but he just wanted a stick from a tree. Yes he did get both.

StarlightMcKenzie · 02/12/2012 09:51

Ds wants a motorway and dd wants a big diamond.

lorisparkle · 02/12/2012 10:35

DS2 wants a sword - a real sword. When he was 4 all DS1 wanted was some jingle bells. That was a nice easy present!

charlottery · 02/12/2012 11:01

Last year's request was a tortoise that goes, this year its a 'light up pen in the dark'
She's another blutac fan too - that and plasters in her stocking and she'll be very happy

PomBearWithAnOFRS · 02/12/2012 11:15

fuzzpig Primark have some socks with owls on just now. They were a three pair pack for £2 I think (certainy not more than that) I got some for DDs stocking last week Grin

fuzzpig · 02/12/2012 11:28

Oh excellent thanks Pom!

McChristmasPants2012 · 02/12/2012 11:28

trying to find dylis for my neice is prooving difficult.

Mathsdidi · 02/12/2012 12:34

Dd2 has just told Santa (at ourchurch Christmas fair) that she wants a pink umbrella. That should be an easy one to arrange.

Mynewmoniker · 02/12/2012 12:44

Years ago my brother wanted Manta Force and mum n dad refused to pay the large amount of money for something so tacky. They instead bought him lego so he could build his own. Confused He was about 7 years old.

Arachnophobe · 02/12/2012 13:21

DS2 decided a mirror (of the swivel type which sits atop a dressing table) is going to the top of his Father Christmas list after furniture shopping with me yesterday - just like his Daddy Xmas Grin they spend more time getting ready than I do Xmas Blush.

Mummyof3tobe · 02/12/2012 13:41

DD(5) wants a pair of crutches and a bandage - there is nothing wrong with her legs whatsoever!

we3kingsoforientRaahh · 02/12/2012 13:49

Ds just wants a cork notice board for his room. His best friend moved away on Friday and he wants one so he can put pictures of him on itSad. He likes Christmas, because his initials are ElfXmas Grin

Dd1 wants everything she sees has a more comprehensive list. But, without fail, this always includes 'hedgehogs- not real ones '. You know, just in case i was tempted to get a live one!

She totally believes I used to be an Elf, (I had to leave when I got too tall at 4ft8). She believes every family has a member who was at one time employed by Father Christmas. It's how we learn to wrapGrin. Of course, we can never let on to fellow ex-employees...

QODRestYeMerryGentlemen · 02/12/2012 14:00

Mummyof3tobe they're only £15 inc p&p from eBay, brand new :o

We figured they're bound to actually be needed one day

FranticBanana · 02/12/2012 14:13

DS (3) has asked for, "Man clothes. In case if I wake up in the morning and I be a man."

He also asked Santa yesterday if he could have a pair of trousers which didn't fall down. Xmas Blush

DD when 3 wanted a pink box full of Smarties, which she got. She wasn't used to getting a lot of sweets in one go at the time so opened the box, grinned and stuck her face straight in, nosebag style.

Galena · 02/12/2012 15:05

We've bought DD a Playmobil school as she adores her playmobil at the moment. Today she decided she wanted Santa to bring her a scooter. Bah!

familyfun · 02/12/2012 15:25

dd2 wants a xmas tree - easy Grin
dd1 wants a 3d dolphin jigsaw - not so easy

PickledMoomin · 02/12/2012 15:27

DD wants to adopt a squirrel.. Not to live with us, just to pay to have it fed and watered!

streakybacon · 02/12/2012 15:35

Ds once asked for stealth.
Glad I couldn't find it as it would be a bitch to wrap Grin.

ratbagcatbag · 02/12/2012 15:51

My 12 yo old DSS two years ago asked fir money to save for a MADD gear pro scooter. Unbeknown to him we were getting it, the traditionally come in Green and silver, however also had limited edition red and black, digging discovered the green was the coveted one, purchased, wrapped and hid in the loft. Two weeks before Xmas he declared the red one was amazing and he'd never want the common green one Xmas Confused luckily rang the shop who got a massive waiting list for green ones that they would never fulfil before Xmas, so practically sent a courier that day to give me a red one and tar back the green one so they could sell it again. Phew

CometAndCupid · 02/12/2012 16:07

2.5 year old dd wants pasta apparently. I'm not sure if she means to eat or just a bag of dried pasta [fconsfused] Either way it'll be a nice cheap christmas Xmas Grin

fuzzpig · 02/12/2012 16:22

You could get some funky shaped pasta (you can get Bob the Builder shaped dry pasta in the gluten free section in big supermarkets!) or maybe some tricolour stuff?

Mummyof3tobe · 02/12/2012 16:31

QOD is there anything Amazon don't do???

Perhaps they'd be a good insurance policy.... Now how to wrap and fit in a stocking....

fuzzpig · 02/12/2012 16:33

Starlight I think somewhere we have a large glass paperweight that's cut a bit like a diamond... would that type of thing pass for a diamond do you think?!
