SnowMuch's annual advent calendar thread - what did you get in yours today?

Ds and I are having our annual advent calendar competition where we have guessed what is in all the windows. One point for something you guessed but on the wrong day, two points for the right thing on the right day.

Today I had a decoration (1 point), ds also had a decoration (no points, as he didn't guess decoration for any day). He also has the Playmobil Knights tournament advent calendar and had a king person in it! Smile

Today I had some more decorations (no points for those), but ds had a Father Christmas. On the correct day! 2 points for him. Xmas Envy

In the Playmo calendar he had a helmet for the knight. Xmas Smile

Santa got a desk today, bit of an anticlimax as the door was huge so I think they were hoping for a sleigh or reindeer!

The sleigh is really good when it does arrive. Norm is thinking of getting our sleigh out soon for a festive ride. Smile

DD1 not so impressed with Lego friends today. Loads of tiny pieces presumably to put into the figures' hair.

Polly pocket was better - a cute little red dress for the doll.

I've just gotton all of our festive Playmobil out.

Saint Nicholas and his 'black Piets' have gone back to Spain on their steam boat and several Father Christmases and the Nativity figures have arrived. Ds and I are having a great time.

We will be getting our Christmas stuff out this weekend. Norm is going to put the tree up outside his portakabin again... Xmas Grin

I have just got out the Lego city calender from last year, the one with the naked Santa and it is SO much better then the Lego Friends one.

We had a Lego City calendar a few years back (before we got fixated on the Playmo ones!). Was very good. Ds isn't into Lego so much now though, but still loves his Playmo...

This playmobil one is bit shit next to the Lego one. Every morning ds1 gets something to build then sits there playing for a bit. Dd got a desk yesterday and a chair today. Woop. I'm sure it will be a lovely little playset when it is all done but I think I shall be trying to steer their uncle away from doing this again next year.

Yes the Playmobil ones are great when they are completed.

I am having a nightmare trying to assemble the Playmobil gymnasium that Sinterklaas gave my girls. My dh has set me the challenge of assembling it without looking at the instructions - but I can't even assemble it with the instructions!

Playmobil is so bloody fiddly! Fantastic when done but a nightmare to put together. After the tantrums we had alst year I have instructed all family that if they are buying playmobil they have to put it together before they wrap it Grin. Dd adores the stuff though. Ds1 the perfectionist engineer architect's grandson geek is a lego fiend but dd loves to be able to grab and imagine without too much of a building process getting in the way.

Good idea Indith. I wouldn't have bought the Playmobil gym, because we much prefer the smaller Playmo figures and the cars and campervans. But this gym came from the Sinterklaas who arrived at DH's work.

SnowMuch I need you here RIGHT NOW. My fingers are in agony. Those annoying little fiddly bits trying to put up the gym. I just can't do it. It is back in the box until I have recovered enough to have another go. I WILL NOT let it defeat me. There is no way I am going to ask dh for help.

I think I might even give myself a Xmas Sad

Is that the school gymnasium, LadyM? We got that in the summer, and seemed to assemble it ok. But we are having trouble with the stand for the weapons from our Knights Tournament advent calendar - it has some little black clip bits which need inserting into the frame. We have managed to get one in but the other two are being a bit resistant! I used a cloth over the top to get the first one in to avoid injuring my fingers - I don't know whether this would be any help with your gym... Xmas Hmm

Anyway, I had a rocking horse today (no points) and ds had another decoration (no points). He had some armour for the knight in his Playmo calendar. Xmas Smile

Have you been sick yet Tinsel Xmas Wink?

LadyM, we still haven't managed to get the bits into the weapon stand! Am considering the use of a hammer.... Xmas Hmm

Today's offerings were a holly wreath for me (no points) and 1 point for ds, as we counted the Christmas tree depicted on yet another sodding decoration...

In the Playmo calendar we had a horse for the knight, and a lance. Xmas Smile

The Lindt calender is going strong - the chocolates are delicious.

The Polly Pocket one is great - considering it was only 7 euros (5 pounds)- loads of outfits for the doll. Ice skates today.

DD1 got another sliegh in her Lego Friends.

SnowMuchToBits · 10/12/2012 08:57

Today I had a stocking (1 point) and ds had a teddy bear (also 1 point). The Playmo calendar had a hood and coat thing for the horse.

I finally managed to insert the little black bits into the weapon stand! (Once I had discovered I was trying to put them in from the wrong side... Oops! Xmas Blush

Well, first of all the single piece goes in what appears to be the front of the stand, the other two go in the other side. I positioned the black piece in the hole, then used a folded up tea towel and pressed firmly with my thumbs. The black pieces have to go with the little lip facing upwards too. Hope this helps!

Thank you so much SnowMuch. Mr P managed to get the single bit in. I now just need to find the pieces that I threw into the playmobil knights and emergency services box in a huff and try again!
