I've got plenty of stocking type ideas for dd this year but I'm really stuck with her main present. What will your dd's be getting this year please?

Mine's getting a hairdryer. Struggling to think about what to get for her and the other 2 dds as none of them actually "want" anything! Lots of bits and pieces I suspect. I'm going to get her a hot water bottle with a cute cover (well, I'll get all three of them one, but mainly it's for dd1 as I remember how much it helped me with period pain ... she hasn't started yet, but I don't think it's long in coming now!) It's really hard, isn't it?! (Not helped by her birthday being in less than 2 weeks' time!) Good luck in your search!

Does she like making things? There are some great craft kits out there. Klutz do good ones, there are also the "Make your own lip balm/soap/candles/bouncy balls" kits. Or a Learn to Knit set?

What are her hobbies? Does she play with anything still? Would she like tickets to a show? A room makeover? (My daughter would love this but it's too expensive at the moment.)

DD has also asked for the latest Wii 'Let's Dance' game. And some of her friends are evidently asking for the new Wii console (think it is called Wii U, or some such).

OP - what about a camera, sewing machine, or phone? What are your dd's interests and/or hobbies?

My dd is quite a tom boy, she plays lots of sport and spends lots of time outside playing with friends. She already has a phone on contract which she pays for, an Xbox, we have a family Wii and iPad. She has an iPod, music player and tv / DVD in her room which was recently decorated. She's not really into and bands or shows so tickets are out. Because she is quite sporty and outdoorsy she already has a decent bike etc.

She's not really into her appearance and isn't fussed by fashion, makeup, hair etc.

See what a pain in the bum she is Wink

mine wants uggs (I'm getting them sent from Australia I think) and I'm getting her a docking station. Other than that, it's stationery, she;s getting a flip camera from relatives (she loves making little films) and she wants money as she's saving up for a laptop.

she would love a kindle too, but she keeps breaking them.

her favourite thing in the world is her iPhone (really my old one).

Was considering one of the bat detectors for Mr Turquoise but asked what he thought and he said he wants one that is two way which converts our speech into bat noises. Hmm Not for this Christmas then.

She's not very creative so I don't think she be fussed by that animation thing.

I did find some good activity days for her like canoeing etc but I've just asked her and she says she'd rather have something to use or play with on Christmas day than getting an activity or experience type gift. Confused

I'm having the same problem with my 10 yr old - she is very grown up for her age & has just had a birthday where she got a guitar, clothes & blackberry from us & others.

She totally grown out of toys, has plenty of arts & craft stuff , TV, household iPad etc so this year it's proving really really difficult - the ONLY thing on her list so far is a Lipstick mirror for her newly decorated room - but she wants a lime green one, which so far doesn't seem to existHmm & she loves books, but is very fussy about what she reads at the moment, so not sure I could safely choose for her - same if we bought her more clothes or shoes, she's a nightmare to shop for - her GPs are looking at paying guitar lessons for her

Though I have just got her pinning stuff to a "all I want for Xmas" board on Pinterest, so I'm hopeful for my ideas that way - would that be an idea for you to try sweet ??

I am liking the look of the Animation studio though Viva she's very arty so that's something I think she would enjoy - I now just need to find out if its compatible with our computer - we are on MAC mini, which isn't listed on the ad

I had also thought of looking at metal detectors, she loves beach combing for sea glass, but I'm not sure - she is so fickle it's unrealConfused fingers crossed her pinning on Pinterest brings results

I just order DD a hair waving thing from boots - was £80 reduced to £37 which I thought was fab and all the write ups are really good for it.

dd1 was 13 a few weeks ago and is getting Converse All Stars and some spending money as her main present. She's very into performing arts and for her birthday I got tickets to "Wicked" which she loved - would tickets to something be an idea?
dd2 is 11 and is getting a portable DVD player and dd3 (8) is getting a keyboard as she wants to start piano lessons next term.
They all have some other smaller gifts and a stocking and will get main presents from their father as well so I think they'll do alright.

DSD asked for a i-pad but she's getting a tablet instead (had to explain that £100 ws the max i was spending and she was ok with that), also got her some smellies, socks, giant cup cake mould and butterfly icing cutters (as she keeps pinching mine) and a fake cath kidston hand bag.

My 12yr old dd is hoping for a 3dsxl as her ds is now starting to fall apart as she's worn it out so she'll prob be havuing one.
She's difficult as well as she's into unusual stuff like skulls etc. In the past she's had an anatomy model, a skeleton(plastic were not quite that weird), an ear model and eyeball that she had to build.
She's also hoping for some converse but the prices are nasty, and she wants some hell bunny clothing which can be a pain to find that's fit.

What about a sport experience like a tour of a footie stadium or something like that.
