I've got plenty of stocking type ideas for dd this year but I'm really stuck with her main present. What will your dd's be getting this year please?

We book a driving lesson for DS and DD twice a year (usually May and November)
Young Drivers - they need to be 11yo + (I think up to 16-17) and 5' +.

My 12 yr old asked for a laptop. Fine with me cos she does a lot of homework on mine which has no Microsoft and is slowly dying.

DD is 12 and is hankering after a pair of Uggs or Emu.
She knows 'not until your feet stop growing' so until now I've bought her the Costco Kirklands own brand .

She loves earrings, hair products, clothes.
She has an iPhone (she pays for), TV, laptop.

I'm sure she's been eyeing up the iPad Mini too.

I'm stuck too. My dd will be turning 11, but I'm not sure what to get her. She doesn't have a phone/iPod touch/tablet/computer/telly in room but I don't think i want to change any of that yet, she's still young. We have been gifted a pre-loved wii, she only has Just Dance but she loves that!

She has a bike already. She loves reading but is joined the library! Has toys. Maybe some art stuff or uggs....Or an 'experience' like horse riding Smile.

Stocking fillers, I'm thinking stationary, slipper socks, chocolate coins, body shop fruity soaps. None of this is very original!

A 132" 3D TV, a jaccuzzi (plus outhouse to put it in and potted palms etc) , a personal visit from Justin Bieber, a chinchilla, a MacBook Pro, tickets for her and 3 friends to go to Barbados for a week, and some Uggs.

Unless she changes her mind - which 12 year olds do quite a lot over 6 months.

Still, it can all go back (except the Chinchilla) and her grandparents can maybe get a pony instead.

Or one of those micro-pigs.

But they give me the creeps a bit.

I didn;t mean to be sniffy and snobby but I do agree with you! What's wrong with five or six things for Christmas- a book, jeans, CD etc. How are you supposed to "bond" with stuff if you have to share it with 20 other things...I mean my mum says that she could only afford an LP she really really wanted every couple of months or so when she was a teen (70s), and it was such a huge deal when she got one, she treasured it and still wore it out playing it so much. And at Christmas she got mostly practical things like clothes. And she still had a million interests and loads of friends.

But then I am a total Luddite, so I don't like kids getting games consoles and things anyway! Wink

Quirrel...this is exactly why we have just said not our 8 year old having an iPod touch. It seems that by the time kids get to 12/13 they have everything on a plate and nothing left to want, so parents have to go to bigger and bigger extremes. Tis crazy I tell you, when we were kids we were excited about walkmen or bikes or something at 12. Bloody modern life...bah!

Oh and a hockey stick, bag to put it in and a leotard, but those are kind of in recognition of all manner of hobby related stuff DD1 has had off EBay through the year.

OMG those hedgehogs are super cute - my kids would LOVE them! They'd both quite like pet's actually but i just can't face the trauma after dd's pet hampster died 18 months ago. It was awful, she hand fed it for about 3 days as it chose a bank holiday weekend when the vets were closed to die Hmm
