not sure yet. last year was blue and silver, might do red and white this year, but need to paint my living room first.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 24/09/2012 18:07

Different themes in different areas.
I've got white/clear/pearl/silver decorations
Gold/Bronze
Traditional (not glass)
Mixed colour glass baubles for the tree, added to (and broken Sad ) every year.

We move the colour scheme round every year .
But no pink, lime, turquoise 'modern fangled' shades.
And in my house, Christmas trees are green. Only green.

MirandaWest · 24/09/2012 18:08

Mine is explosion of colours Grin

Christmas colour scheme?

What?

I was thinking of letting the children throw random shiny tut at the tree. Is that wrong?

Kinora · 24/09/2012 18:11

You'd probably be horrified at my tree - anything and everything goes (except tinsle - I do have some standards). A mixture of colour and allsorts of baubles collected from holidays over the years. I absolutely love it.

I've scaled down the other decorations as the dc have gotten older.

TheHeirOfSlytherin · 24/09/2012 18:13

Dh wants red and gold, but my living room is green and brown so I want just gold. The next catalogue has some nice gold decs. Need to have a look around for some more.

headfairy · 24/09/2012 18:16

Blimey, people have Christmas colour schemes?

Sirzy · 24/09/2012 18:17

You sank - that's my approach to!

Sirzy · 24/09/2012 18:18

And those who have a different scheme each year do you buy new every year? What do you do with the old stuff?

snickers251 · 24/09/2012 18:18

Same as every year, white tree with black and silver decs to match our front room!

Really want to change front room colours soon as would love a traditional red, green and gold Christmas Grin

Shakey1500 · 24/09/2012 18:19

I just pull out last years decorations and put them up again. But, but, but... as a little sewing practice on my new machine I have made a garland of denim stars from ds's old battered jeans, and put red buttons and little bells on them and was momentarily thinking they looked a bit Christmassy and should I cut up the rest of his jeans and make matching stars for the Christmas trees :o

LadySybildeChocolate · 24/09/2012 18:26

Red and gold for the past 10 years. I have 2 rooms to decorate this year though, so I'm looking at all of your ideas so I can borrow one Smile

onyx72 · 24/09/2012 18:31

Wow. Christmas colour schemes? I have lived a sheltered life.

BlameItOnTheCuervo · 24/09/2012 18:31

I love messy christmas trees, ds and I will be making paper chains, we also make saltdiough decorations.

I love the idea of colour schemes but in reality we have a tree of tat lovingly collected over the years. But we like to think it is so bad it is good. And I'm a freak who LOVES tinsel...Blush

BlameItOnTheCuervo · 24/09/2012 18:33

Last year we moved house and dh left all my beautiful decorations at the old house, including the angel that was my great nans. I was not pleased.

LadySybildeChocolate · 24/09/2012 18:33

Sad I'm so sorry, Cuervo.

Squeegle · 24/09/2012 18:35

Colour schemes for Christmas- extraordinary!

surfingluby · 24/09/2012 18:37

My children decide as they make all the decorations and they decorate the tree! we also have hand me downs from my Nan & my Mum. Home made things and lots of memories on a real tree is what Christmas is all about in our house.......oh and fairy lights, loads of them Smile
Can't wait, on count down already.......love it x

HokeyCokeyPigInAPokey · 24/09/2012 18:37

We have red white and green on the tree in the front room and the decorations match.

In the dining room with have silver and teal on tree and all decorations and table settings match.

Would quite like a change this year but don't have the time to redecorate.

ShowOfHands · 24/09/2012 18:39

I like Traditional. We make most of our decorations so holly from the garden, dried oranges and cinnamon sticks, fircones, paperchains etc. We also do saltdough decorations and ginger cookies. I've been collecting traditional Christmas decorations, particularly Victorian for a couple of years now. I like my house to look like a scene out of Shirley Hughes' Lucy and Tom's Christmas.

Floggingmolly · 24/09/2012 18:43

That's gorgeous, ShowOfHands! I love Shirley Hughes illustrations.
