Best Christmas DVD for 3.5 year old and 18 month old

Just looking for recommendations for a DVD for my 3.5 year old and 18 month old DD's for Christmas Eve. I've been looking at Mickey Mouse or maybe The Muppets?

My 18 month old isn't really into watching TV so will really be for my 3.5 year old.

Any recommendations?

Thanks

We watch The Snowman every Christmas Eve now...bit of a tradition.

iloveholidays · 14/09/2012 21:02

Thanks Trizelda

I meant to say that we've got Father Christmas and the Snowman!! :) She tends to watch those all year round :)

Thanks though - trying to look for something new as part of a Christmas Hamper I'm keen to start this year. With DD3 due in 8 weeks I'm trying to get organised!

Polar express is magic. My two are transfixed every year with it.

Thanks Higherhill - I'll have a look...

Anymore suggestions welcome... I'll keep a tally :)

My little Pony: A very minty Christmas Read the reviews, you know you want to Grin

Polar express is amazing. We watch it every year. My dc (6 & 8) and I never tire of it!

debdee · 15/09/2012 00:50

Muppet Christmas Carole is brilliant. My 2 were 1 & 4 last year & both loved it. They keep wanting to get it out now but I also love it & have watched it every year since being a kid so don't .want the repetitive overwatching to spoil it forme, its staying away till December!!

CheerfulYank · 15/09/2012 00:54

I really loved Arthur Christmas, and so did DS. :)

gregssausageroll · 15/09/2012 07:55

Polar express.

iloveholidays · 15/09/2012 10:25

Thanks everyone... Think I'm going to have to look at some reviews and just go for one!!! I'm so indecisive :(

I'm well out of the loop with 3yo (mine are nearly 13 and 10 yo)

Mine liked Barney Christmas Star Barney's Night Before Christmas

Tweenies Pantomime

Strawberry Shortcake Berry Merry Christmas

(And of course Polar Express and The Snowman)

The Gruffolo

You could look on Ebay for old DVDs?

KinkyAllTooOrangeDorito · 15/09/2012 12:50

I really like the Tweenies Christmas DVDs for the run-up.

The one where they go on the sleigh with FC. (Merry Tweenies Christmas - 5 episodes that go up to Christmas Eve.) This disk has 4 sets of Christmas episodes on it:

Mickeys Once Upon A Christmas and Twice Upon a Christmas are both a big hit in my house.

iloveholidays · 15/09/2012 12:59

Thanks everyone... So many choices I'm still not sure which one to go for!! :)

My favourite is the bob the builder Christmas special, with Elton John. I watch it every year with DS (who is now 8)

gregssausageroll · 15/09/2012 13:02

Oh yes fancy. Forgot about Mickey or special Mickey as we calling here. Ds watches it all year round.

iloveholidays · 15/09/2012 13:10

Too many choices :)

DD is just over 3 & we bought The Polar Express for her last Xmas. She loved it, she still does.

In fact she watched it yesterday all the way through (I'm 38 weeks pregnant & needed a rest!) jumping for joy & cheering when she saw the elves & again when Santa appears. It is a lovely film & one that I can see we'll watch together for years at Xmas.

Mickey mouse didn't catch her attention & we have the muppets Christmas carol which she finds a bit scary, also there's not enough singing in it to keep her watching all the way through as she really only likes the singing parts & gets distracted at the talking parts.

iloveholidays · 15/09/2012 13:37

I think I'm going to go for Polar Express... May decide to get another as well nearer the time.

Is this is the right one? There seems to be other ones with blue cover but a lot more expensive.

Polar Express here too. Looks about the right one although ours has a dark cover. Enjoy Grin

amck5700 · 15/09/2012 15:51

best christmas movie ever is Elf.

Santa Buddies is good for younger ones and the ultimate Christmas movie for a couple of years time has to be Home Alone. :)

nameuschangeus · 15/09/2012 15:53

Ooh has to be Polar Express. Smile

amck5700 · 15/09/2012 15:55

My son actually found Polar express a bit scary and he was about 7 when he first watched it.
