Bloody twatphone!

milk · 20/07/2012 17:38

Christmas should be a holiday celebrated all year round Grin

OvO · 20/07/2012 17:40

Mintyy has made poor little baby Jesus cry.

SkinnyVanillaLatte · 20/07/2012 17:44

Absolutely wrong to be discussing it.

I just sneakily and quietly start buying stocking fillers at Easter.

It was MY little secret, till you got me discussing it.......Grin

YouOldSlag · 20/07/2012 17:44

I'm not into buying for all and sundry. I don't see the point if I'm honest.

Sorry raincost, I'm not picking on you honest! Just wanted to explain that it's not about being "into it" it's about not offending people who have bought for your children, or upsetting young nieces, or not buying for MIL who will throw plates if we didn't bother.

It's about politics and diplomacy in our case, not because I love Christmas so much I really WANT to buy 45 presents (for in laws I don't like, among others) Smile

Jingle bells,jingle bells.......

Mintyy · 20/07/2012 18:54

Omg, I honestly can't believe you have moved this into the Christmas topic Rebecca!! Shock.

My question is an classic aibu. It deserves to be in aibu, it needs to be in aibu.

I sometimes think I understand aibu better than you lot at HQ!

Mintyy It has the word christmas in the title, its July.

Christmas is where it belongs! Grin

YouOldSlag, I know you're not picking on me. We're just having a hearty but respectful debate.

Where you're in the wrong. ;)

See, I just dispense with any family that make me feel guilty. I can't be arsed with it. If people think I have to give them a present, they'll be waiting a long time. I give to people who I like and who I want to buy for. Not out of obligation.

It's relatively easy for me though, because I'm not close to any of my family. Maybe because I can't be arsed with family stuff.

My brain would fall out of my ears if I had to think about gifts for more than about 5 people.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 20/07/2012 19:14

Well, I love Christmas more than it is reasonable.
I'm not religious but I was brought up in a very religious household.
XMAS rather than Christmas makes me stabby.

The supermarket aisles being mysteriously cleared in August/September then being filled with Christmas puddings, pies and cakes makes me Hmm.

I don't want to be pushing past selection boxes to find my Hallowe'en Witches tights.

Only exception is HomeSense and Costco who get their Christmas stuff in early.

My DS has a December birthday, so we don't do any decorations until after his day.

And I write really comprehensive lists of To Do/To Buy/To Cook Wink

BonkeyMollocks · 20/07/2012 19:21

I have a christmas notebook Blush

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 20/07/2012 19:32

No you don't Bonkey I saw Little Pig shredding the pages under your sofa cushion.

BonkeyMollocks · 20/07/2012 19:39

It wouldn't surprise me Hmm

You have also just made me realise that I have nowhere for the tree to go this year. pigs have taken up the usual tree space, there is no other space Shock

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 20/07/2012 20:39
Confused pigs or tree, pigs or tree, pigs or tree

Hmmmmmmmm.
Well, you could waft to John Lewis and get one of those upside down trees (pointy end downward, but where d'you put the presents)
or a corner tree (fits into the corner Grin )
or one of those wall mountable ones.

Or just tell the GPs to share their space. They'd love a Christmas Tree shedding needles into their cage.

BTW I evict my DS to DD room for Christmas. He has the front room (with the fireplace). We have a family room/kitchen/dining room.
But we need the extra TV for essential DH and DS Dr Who viewing while I watch the soaps.

YouOldSlag · 20/07/2012 23:01

yelowraincoat- are you my Dad? Smile

pigs of the guinea variety, Maryz

And they're not a substitute for the Christmas Turkey even though they taste like chicken (allegedly)

Mind you, 4 people could have a leg Grin
