DH and I have agreed to give each other stockings for the first time in several years (we did them when we first met, before DCs) so I'm just musing on what we could fill them with. Haven't set a budget but we will do (I went totally overboard on the DCs last year)

I can't really think of much other than socks/underwear, chocolate/sweets and toiletries... Any ideas? :)

Always always chocolate coins. And a satsuma.

If he drinks whiskey, have a look on Amazon at the Whiskey Stones. Great and small enough to fit in a stocking.

Dh said he always got a dinosaur figurine in his when he was a kid so I stick one of those in for posterity, even though itll be dd who gets the benefit of it.

Small nice toiletries (maybe some fancy stuff); nibbles like nuts and a cracker plus some whiskey miniatures or the little cans of ready gin and tonic - stuff he can enjiy christmas evening;

I always put the small bottles of wine you can get in the supermarket in DH's. Chocolate that only he likes (so that he knows I won't steal it later Grin), nice shower gel, a novelty keyring or something (Darth Vader last year...) Maybe a desk calendar.

Should've mentioned DH can't have alcohol (painkillers)! Otherwise that'd be really good. I don't drink much and we don't usually have alcohol in the house but I do like a cocktail so maybe I should drop hints :o

Although if DH's operation(s) happens to be just before Xmas I may end up needing to do my own stocking Wink

The dinosaur figurine is a cute idea. We both had shitty Xmases growing up so all our traditions are started from scratch, but on mother's/father's day we usually get each other a toy-type gift that obviously the DCs will play with but that are special - eg this year DH got a space set and spent all day playing astronauts even when the DCs were in bed

That's awesome :o

I am also going to try and get one of those edible massage bars (as mentioned on another Xmas thread) from Lush.

I put one of those head massagers in DP's stocking last year, he loved it and has used it every day since Grin

willbeskinny · 05/07/2012 21:43

I do a stocking for DP and last year stuck a load of Christmas themed scratchcards in. He won £2 and was dead chuffed.

Huffpot · 08/07/2012 11:41

Love the idea of scratch cards...DP would love that

A hot summer without rain.

Top Trump sets are a winner here.

Peter Capaldi's leg.

I am busy at work today (supposedly Blush), but I will root through my (loooong) list of ideas and come back to this thread. I have lots ofr kids, but lots for grownups too.

I know the little puzzles and things that M&S have started doing around Christmas go down well by my bro's and sis's. One loves sudoku, so a small book of those is good too, or crosswords etc.

Will have a better think though and come back...

Benedict Cumberbatch.

fuzzpig · 10/07/2012 10:44

I suppose I would like useful stuff like hairbands TBH! Quite boring though...

There'll be 4 stockings in our house so maybe £25 each absolute limit? Considering we don't do plastic tat so it'll all be stuff we'd want to get each other anyway. Seems a lot but I'm sure I spent loads more on the DCs' stocking last year Blush

I wouldn't mind him either :o

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 10/07/2012 10:56

cheese, sorry for the confusing x-posting but I was talking to fuzzpig and meant Benedict. You're welcome to Johnny. he looks like he needs a bath anyway Grin

cheesesarnie · 10/07/2012 11:17

Grin Thankyou! I'll give him a bath

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 10/07/2012 11:24

Enjoy!

yellowflowers · 12/07/2012 22:18

For dh last year I got a mini Lego figure and a magazine he wouldn't usually buy on posh food. Also chocolate bars he like and I don't. In past I have included a cd and a scratch card. This year so far I have got him one of those orgasm head
massager things that I found today for £6 - the ones with spindles you put on your scalp.

My ideal stocking would include bubble bath (no need to be fancy), nice lipstick, socks, scratch card, that kind of thing.

fuzzpig · 13/07/2012 06:01

CDs would be good, there's a couple of old 'greatest hits' type albums that I have on my wishlist for DH.

I wouldn't for DH but maybe for teens in the future we could put in a little giftcard.

I like the scratchcard idea but we are both very 'risk averse' people so if say I got DH 3 scratchcards and he won £2, he would still view it as a loss :o

I like the puzzle idea BTW biddy, I have a puzzle magazine subscription (beyond sudoku if any fellow geeks are interested - full of logic-based puzzles) and DH always nicks the more sudoku-ish ones in there so a book of those to himself would be good.

We have a "rule" about Christmas stockings-
"some thing you want, some thing you need, something to eat, something to read"
which if you follow, makes filling them really easy.

kids always get colours, new toothbrush, chocolate coins and a book, and topped up with stickers, hair clips, little dolls etc
Dp gets a cd, novelty socks or boxers, terrys chocolate orange or Toblerone and new book. Last year I topped it up with toy soldiers, smelly stuff, studs for football boots etc.
I do my own so put in mascara or lipstick, socks or pants, terrys chocolate orange or Toblerone, new book, hair clips, jewellery, etc
stockings are a big thing here!
