Christmas baking with condensed milk?

I sent DH to the supermarket for evaporated milk to make fudge with. Despite being very brainy, he came home with condensed milk.

Now I have a glut of condensed milk. What can I bake with it?

There are recipes for fudge using condensed milk - I think Nigella does one.

peppermint creams and coconut ice both use condensed milk.

I saw a 1kg tin of condensed milk last week! Thats over 2lb in real money.

I bought 3 small tins to make tablet (recipe on Food) It's Scottish fudge but is more brittle.

I would have to finish the 1kg tin with a spoon

And feel sick

Anything here which takes your fancy?

Sillyoldelf · 17/12/2011 18:28

Helen you can make fudge with condensed milk - I prefer making it with condensed to evap . Strangely enough I bought evap by mistake for my fudge 2 days ago and I won't use it !

I always do the tesco white chocolate and cranberry fudge recipe. It uses evaporated milk. The condensed milk ones always seem to need a lot more faffing with.

I'll have a look at a tablet recipe as I prefer brittle fudge (never knew it was called tablet). I'd completely forgotten peppermint creams! The children will love making those!

Oh and thanks roastparsnips for that link - some fab recipes on there. I'm particularly leaning towards the bitter chocolate and orange truffles!

Helen you can also make very easy chocolate spread with condensed milk.

There was a recipe on here for fudge with condensed milk, cheap white chocolate and cranberries.

littleducks · 19/12/2011 15:32

Sorry here very simple, just melt everything together then cool

That white chocolate recipe sounds delicious. I have all the ingredients except the chocolate which is maybe just as well. Xmas Grin
