another peripheral kitchen gadget - joke-shaped pizza cutter, heart shaped ice cube tray, those rubber gloves with fur around the top.

How about you?

Last year BIL and SIL got me a mixing bowl -even DH was a bit Hmm I am intrigued to see what they come up with this year.

TheFallenMadonna · 08/12/2011 18:47

I got a packet of paper napkins from MIL.

AngryFeet · 08/12/2011 18:49

Another box of chocolates from BIL - I do not like chocolate

Another Body Shop set from FIL - I do not use smellies

Still they come in handy to give to the school for fairs so shouldn't moan :)

Besom · 08/12/2011 18:53

Yes the toiletries here too. I don't like things with a strong perfume and dh breaks out in a rash if even if I use certain things in the bath and don't scrub it out afterwards.

PresentsRibbonsAndMerrySantas · 08/12/2011 18:53

i have had in recent years plastic really cheap salt and pepper grinders [i don't even have salt and pepper] and a set of non fancy everyday knives and forks set, ooo i am so looking forward to this year Xmas Grin oh and one year i got a jumper that was sizes too small, do you think they are trying to tell me something Xmas Hmm but i do prefer giving so i can and do see the funny side and always say 'oh thankyou so much those are lovely, you shoud'nt have no really you should'nt have' Xmas Grin

prezzie21 · 08/12/2011 18:58

i had from a neighbour a box of chocolates....except she ate the chocolates and put 2 tea towels in the box instead Hmm

PresentsRibbonsAndMerrySantas · 08/12/2011 19:02

prezzie21 that made me giggle Xmas Grin i could not buy someone chocs, i would eat them before i could give them.

leftmymistletoeatthedoor · 08/12/2011 19:20

Ferrero roche. I did like them but dh has bought them every birthday / xmas / mothers day / valentines / annoiversary for the past 11 years so I fancy a change tbh!

Alibabaandthe80nappies · 08/12/2011 19:31

Something vile for the house from FIL, or Lush smellies which set my asthma off - again from FIL.

If he came to visit more than once every 2 years then he might choose better!

PresentsRibbonsAndMerrySantas · 08/12/2011 19:47

i love ferrero roche and would be happy to get a box or two every week Xmas Grin

GoodWitchHunting · 08/12/2011 19:59

Chocolates or Smellies. All I ever get from family despite being on a diet (which is finally going well) and not liking harsh chemicals.

My mum decided a while ago I would get a goody bag with 'luxuries you can' afford for yourself' for christmas and birthdays. This years offerings contained the usual bath stuff, shampoo etc. But it also had femfresh wipes and spray and some disposable razors - the asda value ones Shock I know she wants me to settle with a guy but really???

I'm intrigued to see the next ag :)

LemonDifficult · 08/12/2011 20:01

A small-to-medium sized decorative box.

Possibly made of papier mache. Possibly made of sea shells. Possibly ceramic.

Probably displaying a landscape. Or maybe an insert of some animals. Or a painted flower motif.

From someone, somewhere, I will get a box.

timetosmile · 08/12/2011 21:02

What is it about gifting women-of-a-certain-age with smellies?

Is it all down to the Boots 3 for 2 offer, or is there something else at play?

I am also hoping that this will be the first walking-sock free one for several years....

Goodwitch, that is hilarious!

UniS · 08/12/2011 21:19

The his n hers screwdrivers were kinda funny- kept one, took one back to Marks n sparks.
Have been given assorted cheap and nasty bike accessories over teh years. In laws seem to forget that we USE our bikes a lot, so we have good lights and panniers and locks already and do not require said items from the Lidl specials aisle.

GoodWitchHunting · 08/12/2011 21:52

:) Moondog

It made for some interesting faces when I sat and unwrapped that lot...

I think they were maybe on offer and she was going for a top to toe thing but seriously, it felt like she was giving me permission to 'pretty up my garden' and go find a guy.

There are family bets on some type of sexy undies and a multi pack of condoms in the next bag. I will be opening it in private much to the dismay of my siblings!

worldgonemad72 · 08/12/2011 23:13

i once got a fire blanket one year, then a home emergency book the next, i think my grandma thought i was a danger in the kitchen

mrsjay · 09/12/2011 11:44

BoysBoysBoysAndMe · 09/12/2011 11:49

Dove bath set with a poof!

I hate getting bubble bath and shower gel for Christmas - I do not smell

But Flowerbomb by Viktor and Rolf will be much appreciated Xmas Grin

worldgonecrazy · 09/12/2011 11:56

I got 7 Dove gift packs last year. I started off disliking it, but as I'm one of those people that hates waste I just used it. By July I was really loving it and am very hopeful this year that I will get the same again.

OrmIrian · 09/12/2011 11:57

I am getting a camera.

Now don't get me wrong. I wanted a camera. I asked for Amazon vouchers from everyone (apart from DH) so I could put them towards one that I would get after christmas. I was thinking of one for about 150 - better than I'd ever had before but not too expensive. Good compromise.

But DH has hijacked this. Has decided that I really want is the sort of hi-tech thing someone who makes their living from photos would want. He has diverted all the money that my parents, MIL, brother etc were going to give me and is buying my the CAMERA! And that is going to be it. One fuck-off expensive camera and nowt else. Sad I guess that makes me a bit ungrateful but I do feel rather crestfallen. DH normally buys such lovely pressies for me.

And before you ask, yes I have told him I don't want a anything really expensive but he just tells me to mind my own business and laughs.

witherhills · 09/12/2011 12:01

L'Occitaine lavender products from DH. Bet ya!

I like the shea butter products, I tell him every year

He couldn't possibly buy me any more Calvin Klein Euphoria, I have at least 4 bottles

JedwardThreesome · 09/12/2011 12:02

Yes to nasty bath sets (horrors) , MIL who is an absolute sweetheart, is of the bath set from Wilkos mentality. I would rather she saved her money, it never ever gets used.

TheNinjaGooseIsARoasting · 09/12/2011 12:14

slippers, the sort with lots of fluff and bling that are mostly open and fall off my feet and are so not my nonexistent style dd2 usually pinches them

marssparklesdownonme · 09/12/2011 12:47

A copy of Bloody Jamie Oliver or Gordon Ramseys latest from BIL who can't be arsed to actually move from chair of computer. He will also buy my children totally inappropriate tat that my SIL thinks is wonderful and the sort of crap she bought for her three kids.
