Do you know what you're getting off your OH?

Dp and I have decided to buy 2 gifts each. Was supposed to be 1 but I got greedy Wink

He told me not to look to closely at anything that got delivered. Liz Earle package turns up,think she should be more discreet Hmm He was shifty about me going in the car boot. I forgot not to look and went searching for something so found the easel he's got me (I paint). It seemed to be more than just an easel but I didn't pry. Blush

Anyway he doesn't know I've got him a watch and a Pink Floyd dvd so he's getting nice surprises and I'll get him something to eat/drink.

Tbh I'm not at all bothered as long as dcs and dp like what they get which they always do. And I know I'll like the gifts dp has got me, he's been very thoughful Smile Mum and my friends get me gifts too. I keep trying to get friends to do a bran tub but they always say they've already got mine. 2 friends are getting calendars I'm making (painting) plus a small gift as they are impossible to buy for.

A Kindle, have read 100 plus books this year & running out of space for them. Can't wait!

I have no idea what DP is going to get me, he always surprises me with something I've never even thought up but absolutely love (like the year I asked for a DVD and he bought me a massage chair!)
I agree though that it's all about the giving. I'm not too bothered about what I get and even had to be reminded to open my gifts last year! I'm only interested in his reaction. Gutted this year though that he may have figured out his main gift as Amazon messed up the order and I had to warn him it may not turn up in time. Gutted that he can probably guess now.

I know everything, we shop together for them, I'm getting sheepskin boots, a coat, a calendar, picture frame and Harry potter dvd.

DP has some surprises from me but not much, we both usually want particular things so spending money we just don't have or filling our very cluttered house with more tat doesn't make sense!

Tis about the children (although DSD is now of the age where she knows whats shes getting as she is 14 now and I'm so not down with the kids enough to know where to start) Xmas Grin

I love books but tend to give them to the local second hand bookshop or to mum or sis. Plus I go to the library a lot. I'm not sure I'd like a kindle tbh? Have you had a go of one lucysmam? DSD got one and she's stopped using it? I think she should sell it, she may have for all I know?

mummymccar Amazon have messed me around once at Christmas. They omitted to tell me the wii I'd ordered for dss wasn't coming Angry I only found out when I went into the order to see where it was and it said out of stock expected in jan! It was the year the wii came out. Luckily a friend spotted one when out and got it for us on her credit card.

strictlysazz I once got a steamer pan from an ex would've loved a phone car kit instead.

oreo wow you're getting lots Smile Ds1 is 14 and knows what he's getting. DS2 is 11 and just stopped believing in Santa bless him. His are all surprises though. He never asks for much and struggles to write a list Smile

I got exdh a winter coat. I got him one last year and he hasn't washed it so thought I'd best get another one. Hygiene isn't a priority with him so it's niffing a bit Hmm It's just a coat to go to footy matches in nothing posh, just warm and practical. Exmil is very hard to buy for as she's 89. Will probably get her a house jacket or something? My mum is getting a watch a dvd and a calendar (made by me) Dp's mum he buys for but I'll get her a token gift as she always goes ott with me. DSD dp buys for her too but I'll get her something from the boys.

I'm getting a lot this year, DP has a lot of making up to do. I got nothing for my birthday, not even a card. And most importantly it was my first birthday as a mother and he didn't even get me a card from DD Sad. My DB actually pinched my DD and took her to make me a card and get a small present when he found out, that made my birthday I didn't know he was so thoughtful!

We do go a bit ott in general at christmas though even though this year I'm trying to be good

We always had a problem getting a list from DSD and we need one as she gets presents from her DM and her family as well (of course) but it was like pulling teeth! At least now shes older it doesn't matter that her list is short as everything on it requires a small mortgage Xmas Grin

Aww what a lovely DB you have Smile Not sure what to say about dp though? Hmm At least he realises he was in the wrong.

I've been really good with buying, done loads on the cheap. Even from charity shops. I got 2 fab soft toys for DN's dd at the school fayre for 20p Shock They're like new and expensive to buy in the shops. I got some games too at the same fayre for pennies.

Dp works for Morrison's (transport) and it was 20% discount day today so we got a new larger tv for dss plus some other things, booze etc... Got over £50 off the bill!

my oh is not very good at keeping secrets, he's bought me an amore and baci charm braclet (i'd seen it and really wanted it) and some charms for it and a willow tree figurine i was desperate for called quietly other than that i'm not sure

Well done with the bargains, I do try very hard but fail! Got DD a kitchen, spent weeks comparing prices etc, ordered it and the very day it was delivered looked it up on amazon to refer to a review and they dropped the price to £30 less than I paid! (DP had it 90% built and refused to dismantle it and send it back as it had taken him all day)

Told DP I didn't want anything for my birthday (have previously always chosen a present) and he took it literally! I didn't mean nothing, nothing, was thinking a card and some chocs kind of nothing! I'm over it now just Xmas Smile

They sound lovely gifts babyonboard. Much better than a load of smellies that gather dust. Am I alone in not wanting them? Apart from Liz of course but I love her stuff.

Blimey men eh? Yes they can sometimes take things a bit too literally Wink Mum's OH never gets her anything and neither did exMil's dh when alive, not even a card. They're both Virgos too and come to think of it my late BIL was one (virgo) and I don't recall him buying for sis? Dp is a generous gemini Grin

DP is a capricorn - no idea if he is meant to be generous! (evidently not when left to his own devices Xmas Grin)

We don't buy gift sets etc at christmas they just clutter up the place! MIL is queen of the gift set, trinket box, random clutter type presents and although I'm grateful, but to be honest they don't get used and just add to the clutter.

i'm quite impressed with him i didn't ask for any of it told him not to bother getting me anything i'm made up he got me the willow tree ornament my eldest son i had with my ex and i only get to see him on sundays and mondays (my ex is a pain in the arse and i got sick of fighting with him over it, he'd even rather pay 150 quid a week to put him in nursery than allow me to watch him. I left him and really hurt him so he hates me and uses my son to get to me.) but the figurine depicts a woman with a baby on her knee that could be my ds2 and her arm around a little boy stood next to that could be my ds1, it's lovely it reminds me that no matter what, my children will always be my children even when they're not with me.

I asked dh for a pair of earrings, hoop style, as I don't like studs. I mentioned this about 4 weeks ago. I will not get anything as he will forget.
I brought him a air rifle 2 months ago as he wanted a new one, I said at the time that it would be his xmas present, he will not see it as that [fucked of emotion as it cost a lot of money, and I had wanted him to wait for it ... ARGH], and so I am buying him a potato ricer because he is always going on about them.

oreo I give the giftsets to the church for raffles so don't have many. Have plenty of clutter though!

babyonbord am sorry to hear your ex is a pain. I left mine and he used to be very awkward too. Tried to stop me moving away with dss but it isn't that far and he sees them every weekend. We're fine now though thank goodness.

thegirlwithnoname wil you just buy your own earrings? I would. Grin at ricer. I had one of those once from lakeland. Used it twice I think?

i'm sure we will be eventually, i think he gets a little jealous, he's very possesive of our son and he doesn't like that there is more to tie him to my house than his especially now he has a baby brother and as it's our turn to have him at xmas so he's not happy. We are getting go outdoors vouchers off my parents this year since my dh has decided he wants us to have camping holidays with the dogs i'm not entirely convinced i've been camping once and lasted all of half an hour before i checked into a hotel lol but then there isn't much i wouldn't do to please me dss even sleeping outside

I'm being sent on a cake decorating weekend (its what I wanted) and I can't wait to go! He'll probably get me a few things from the DC too

DH is saving for a new camera (He wants a DSLR and they're v. expensive!) so I've been putting away cash for him, I was saving for an Ipod for him, but he's asked for it to go towards the camera instead.

My partner is getting me a kindle with a case to keep it in plus a little light. He has already downloaded a load of books on it for me as well (I did give him an idea what I liked!).

I have got him some trainers, a shirt. Will also be getting him a bottle of drink and some chocolate. He had early Xmas pressie of call of duty game as well

DH has already bought my surprise. This is amazing, he's a Christmas eve type normally. unfortunately, he took the DDs with him and DD2 who is three has told me what he bought, why and where he's hidden it! Poor DH, I'm not letting on. Although I might on Christmas day...
