I don't actually know any 15 year old boys so these suggestions might not be any good but you never know!

Tennis racket
Digital radio
Camera
Tent and sleeping bag

iTunes voucher
Clothing vouchers plus some small personal item, like a scarf, that can be bought without knowing his taste exactly but he will still know you have put thought/time into, IYSWIM?
Trip to favourite town/attraction
Is he a fan of any not-so-popular/up-and-coming bands = 2x tickets (I once got to see Amy Winehouse for £10 by going to my local, small venue)

Does he like reading? At 15/16 I got into the 'Classics', e.g. 1984, Animal Farm, Brave New World, Huckleberry Finn, Day of the Triffids. A book + good DVD adaptation?

Cinema vouchers/cheap theatre tickets?

Are you looking for little items as well so he has more to unwrap? Maybe hair gel, gloves, socks, £5 itunes voucher, little puzzle games/v small gadgets (they can be v cheap) from Hawkin's Bazaar, memory stick to keep coursework on, pack of cards.

DS is 15 next week and based on what he would like -
Some sort of Lynx related product (shower gel/deodorant) - DS moves around the house in a cloud of it.
Funny book - DS likes the Bunny Suicides and Where's Wally (there's also Where's the stig and Where's the meerkat!).
Hat/scarf/comedy socks.
T shirt with some sort of hilarious picture on it - think cats looking shocked with OMG written under themHmm
DVDs - sainsburys have masses of reasonably priced films at the moment. I bought Ocean's 11, 12 and 13 today and it cost £5 for the three of them.

How about festive chocolates, smellies from Boots (hair gel, deodorants etc) and a fact filled boy book - there are loads in the bookshops at the moment about how weird and wonderful stuff is made.

dreamingofsun · 30/11/2011 21:07

depends on the child - my children are very specific about what they want, including clothes - no good buying a tshirt with picture as would definately be the wrong one. we allow them to choose things online and then they get wrapped up for christmas (not allowed to wear them before). i also buy a few cheaper surprise presents - but be very conservative about these and get them from somewhere that exchanges

This is genuine and I don't want to be clever but have you asked him what he wants? What is his background? What has he had previously? What does he wear - is he trendy into clothes? If not does he want to be? Is he into music? Does he have an ipod? Does he play an instrument?

Lots of questions but what is he like? If you are fostering what is his background, what is he like. If it has been difficult what will make him feel special?

My 15 year old dss has asked for a xbox game, he would also be happy with a hoody or a nice coat, maybe a MP3 player (not as expensive as a i-pod)? if he drinks hot drinks maybe he would like his own mug (could fill it with chocolates and treats)?

Selks · 30/11/2011 21:34

computer games
sports gear
itunes voucher
dvds
chocolate!

Some of the things that DTSs (just turned 16) are getting are Skullcandy headphones (although they wanted beats), xbox live subscription, festive undies http://www.topman.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?beginIndex=0&viewAllFlag=&catalogId=33056&storeId=12555&productId=3951037&langId=-1&sort_field=Relevance&categoryId=365606&parent_categoryId=207169&pageSize=20&refinements=category~[365609|365606]&noOfRefinements=1 and socks, itunes vouchers, lynx smellies and little things like guitar picks. Oh and lots and lots of chocolate and sweet things!
