For some reason i thought 18month old DD would like the sylvanian car and caravan as she likes the figures. I've now realised how stupid that was as she will be too little to play with it properly won't she?
If I give DSD the caravan what can I get DD?!

Happyland?

The sylvanian figures are a similar size to the happyland ones so they work together. DD has the happyland treehouse and plays with it with her sylvanian cats.

Happyland is awesome for 18m-4yo. So much choice as well, it's addictive Blush

If you're not sure about giving the SF stuff to DSD (how old is she?) you could always save it for the future.

Playmobil? (its slightly more robust)

I got dd2 the sylvanian hotel for christmas, went to check it a couple of days ago before wrapping it and the bloody thing was broken Sad, so i took it back to argos and got a refund, it looked very breakable so decided it wasn't strong enough for dd2's rough play so i have got her some lego instead (box of mixed bricks), she does have a few bits of sylvanians (the nursery tree house and bus) but there was no way i was going to let her break £100's worth of dolls house/hotel.

LIZS · 30/11/2011 11:05

play family, duplo or playmobil 123

MudAndGlitter · 30/11/2011 11:59

DSD is 4.5. They all play with each others toys anyway so I might leave it as DDs present but take out the smaller bits! Not to mention I've grossly overspent and have just had to buy DD a new bed after her cot broke so can't afford to get new presents.

Happyland definitely my DS 3 in Dec, loves it, big chunky figures and good sets, not too much either, and or lego duplo or something?

PontyMython · 30/11/2011 13:03

What had you already got DSD? Is there a chance she might be a bit jealous of her little sister getting the SF when she's too young for it - maybe DSD has seen adverts for it and would want it more IYSWIM?

MudAndGlitter · 30/11/2011 14:09

DSD has a new doll, kidizoom camera, barbie school set and milky the bunny plus a few stocking fillers. I tried to get everybody equal amounts. I've also got DSD the sylvanian rabbits and my grandad is making both girls a huge dolls house between them

Oh ok so hardly going without then :) what else has DD got? I think it'd make more sense for DSD to have the SF really, given the age etc. Anyway your DD is too young to notice any disparity in present numbers.

MudAndGlitter · 30/11/2011 14:16

Baby annabell and a new dolls buggy and a squirrel sylvanian family. I went overboard Blush

Does your DSD live with you, and if not would the presents be kept at your house or would she take them to her mums?

Maybe you could put all the SF stuff as a joint present as they'll be playing with it together anyway? My DCs are getting quite a bit of joint stuff.

I don't think you've gone overboard Blush but I bet your DD will be totally ecstatic with the doll and buggy and won't notice any lack of other stuff.

MudAndGlitter · 30/11/2011 14:45

She'll keep the presents here and we get her boxing day this year. Might do all sylvanian stuff as joint as DS has got the sylvanian motorbike (can you tell I wasn't allowed sylvanians as a child?!)

i saw that happyland treehouse half price in debanhams today £25 Smile

PontyMython · 30/11/2011 18:03

Oh bless you MAG. You know you are totally over thinking this, they will love whatever you give them :o but I don't blame you as I do the same thing! It's hard wanting to do right by everybody :)

As an aside I got loads of new happyland space stuff off eBay in summer... DS will love it. So why do I feel really sad that I've only just seen the construction site set and can't afford it! FFS!

FootprintsOnTheMoon · 30/11/2011 19:37

Happy land is fab.

verybusyspider · 30/11/2011 20:40

I'd recommend WOW toys too, just a bit different to happy land and last a bit longer imo (I've got fed up of the doors falling off the farm... and the rocket... and the moon buggy..)
something like this - www.amazon.co.uk/Toys-Poppys-Adventure-Friction-Powered/dp/B00009YOTJ/ref=sr_1_10?ie=UTF8&qid=1322685547&sr=8-10

MudAndGlitter · 30/11/2011 20:51

Would sylvanian animals go with wow toys? I do like their toys to go together. Blush

OP posts:
verybusyspider · 30/11/2011 22:52

our sylvanian families don't fit in WOW stuff but we boys have a wooden dolls house car like this, bit more robust than the actual sylvanian family ones (mine are 2,3 and 5) only have car, the link I posted is a bit pricey, maybe look on ebay?

verybusyspider · 30/11/2011 22:54

doh this car
