I'm going to buy a few Christmassy DVD's that we can watch in the run up to Christmas and would love some recommendations for family friendly films suitable for a 3 and a 5 year old as well as DH and I. TIA Smile

The Snowman is my all time favourite :)

PootlesBigSwingBand · 26/11/2011 08:15

Elf, A muppets christmas carol and The polar express go down well in this house. The holiday, Love actually and Bad santa for the adults.

Sparklingbrook · 26/11/2011 08:17

Home Alone (although some say it scared their younger children). Home Alone 2 as well.

peggyblackett · 26/11/2011 08:19

The Snowman

learningtofly · 26/11/2011 08:33

learningtofly · 26/11/2011 08:37

Oh and miracle on 34th street (probably the remake) I believe!

VoldemortsNipple · 26/11/2011 08:38

Polar express $4 in Asda
Home alone is fine if your dcs love slap stick
A Christmas Carol (dh insists on Alister Summary version)
The Santa Clause (1st one)
Elf

Last year was the first year I had ever seen It's a wonderful life
This year I'm planning on watching White Christmas with Bing Crosby (another classic I've never seen)

It's a Wonderful Life!

All have to watch every year at this house. I even play the radio play on tape in the car so they get to learn the script!

Sparklingbrook · 26/11/2011 10:36

Yes very Christmassy isn't it? Getting an iron in the face and your head set on fire! I do love Home Alone! I luuuurve the house particuarly.

Catsmamma · 26/11/2011 10:38

Elf is the best ever...it's one of the few films EVER to have made me cry.

Also The Grinch and Muppet Christmas Carol

Can't think of anymore right now!

GoEasyPudding · 26/11/2011 11:12

smokeybacon · 26/11/2011 11:17

Elf.

Elf.

Elf.

I cry too, catsmamma. Love that film.

fantus · 26/11/2011 12:33

Scrooged is my absoloute favourite but I also love Love Actually, Muppets Christmas Carol and Santa Clause The Movie.

MinnieBar · 26/11/2011 12:35

Die Hard.

No, really. Just for you and DH though.

LittleLucifer · 26/11/2011 12:41

The Muppet's Christmas Carol is brilliant for everyone - my absolute favourite Christmas film...have been singing the songs the last few days and ordered it from Amazon last night. It's very funny and you and your husband will get jokes that your children won't notice so entertaining all round.

My favourite as a kid was 'Santa Claus - The Movie' with Dudley Moore as a wayward elf. There are bits of that film that really make me cringe but I still love it.

All Christmas films are best enjoyed with a warm Winter Pimms or similar too....not for the kids...obviously. Actually, all kids films are much more enjoyable if you have a tipple.

JinglePosyPerkin · 26/11/2011 12:41

Christmas With The Kranks.

Jingle All The Way.

Miracle On 34th Street.

Elf.

I love cheesy Christmas films Grin. But don't buy Deck The Halls. No, no, not funny. Not funny at all.

JinglePosyPerkin · 26/11/2011 12:42

Oh, and I also lurve Muppets Christmas Carol Grin. It's fabulous even if you never liked the Muppets - which I didn't.

picnicbasketcase · 26/11/2011 12:47

If you don't love Muppets Christmas Carol and can watch it without crying, you are DEAD INSIDE. The song 'Bless Us Every One' sung by Tiny Tim...

Grin
Byeckersitsapropercrimbolike · 26/11/2011 12:53

Santa Claus the movie, with dudley moore... Best ever!

Elf
