Should I have received details about Christmas Appeal by today?

That's it, basically. I offered a donation - I know I only got in on the last day but I did receive a confirmation email.

I have checked the original thread which lists today as the day by which we should have received an email with details and address of the recipient.

I appreciate this is a huge task to sort out but, if the emails have been sent, where is mine?

Anyone know?

I got mine today, so I think you should have had it.

Hassled · 25/11/2011 21:00

I haven't had anything either - have just had a quick look through Spam (most of them seem to be from Johnny Boden - so glad I decreed him Spam) and there's nothing there. Had forgotten that today was the day - I guess there's just a hell of a lot to sort.

Dysgu · 25/11/2011 21:28

So 50/50 then - I have been through both email addresses I use but nothing in either, I think. I will try to be patient but I was looking forward to shopping for something possibly different from all the stuff I have had to get for people I know!

I have a match! As if by magic.
The moral of the story is... patience.

methodsandmaterials · 25/11/2011 21:47

I haven't received mine either.

Dysgu · 25/11/2011 22:05

Sorry - but I am glad that others of you also have not received a match (yet) - we can all wait together!

Got mine today. No smellies allowed though due to skin condition so struggling for what to put in for the Mum.

What are you putting in? Scarf? Bit of nice but reasonably priced jewellery? Help! Grin

Flisspaps · 25/11/2011 22:30

I've not had one Sad

Flisspaps · 26/11/2011 08:24

I lied, I have, I have, I have Grin

Haribojoe · 26/11/2011 08:25

Have got mine with ages and m/f Fizzy do I buy for parents as well or just who is mentioned in the e-mail, getting confused now (doesn't take much) Grin

WinterIsComing · 26/11/2011 10:32

I offered an unused toy but my match has more than one child. Should I get something for everyone? Never done this before.

Ragwort · 26/11/2011 10:35

I've had a match and have offered vouchers - what do you think are the best vouchers - it is for a mum with teenage children?

NettoSuperstar · 26/11/2011 10:39

I have the same ragwort, I thought maybe just Tesco?
Not very exciting but useful for essentials or treats.

Saltire · 26/11/2011 10:39

Winteriscoming - I had a match like that once, I put in the items I had donated, plus a few extras, like colouring book, felt pens, chocolates etc.

AFuckingFestiveKnackeredWoman · 26/11/2011 10:45

I got mine. Its a mum and a toddler..I've offered vouchers too. Will have to think on where from.

I have some really stupid questions to ask..

Do i just send them in a card? recorded delivery? What do i write in said card?

Hate it when i don't know the appropriate etiquetteGrin

Ragwort · 26/11/2011 10:48

Netto - but what if the person is politically opposed to Tesco - I know there are some strong views on Mumsnet about certain supermarkets .............. perhaps I am over-thinking this Grin - and what sort of value - is £10 too little/about right?

jetzombie · 26/11/2011 10:50

I had my match yesterday. I also offered vouchers/anything. Do you think a supermarket voucher would be disappointing for a MNer with 2 young children? I would be a bit worried about getting childrens pressies in case it was something they already had. Decision making is not my strong point!

WinterIsComing · 26/11/2011 10:58

Good idea. Thanks Satire.

madhairday · 26/11/2011 11:19

I got mine too - do you know if you would get something for each child and the mumsnetter or a general voucher, how does it all work or is it just whatever you fancy?

smokinaces · 26/11/2011 11:22

Love2Shop vouchers are fab - they can be used in loads of high street shops, and for loads of different things.

I didnt receive a match - but my offer was v. small so maybe there wasnt anyone suitable.

Narod · 26/11/2011 11:33

What about if you've offered vouchers but have been given someone who isn't in the UK?

For example, vouchers from amazon.co.uk are only redeemable on the UK site, rather than all amazon sites, and that might be the case for most vouchers. I might send a voucher for somewhere lovely but it could end up being useless (or a faff for the recipient to order something using the voucher online)

fantus · 26/11/2011 12:40

I got my match today. I had offered vouchers / toys and I'm happy to do that but I was wondering what the etiquette was on including second hand toys? Not as my donation but in addition. My match has 2 DS's younger than my DS and I know I have some perfectly good but outgrown toys that I could include on top of a voucher or some new toys. Would this be acceptable?

Thumbwitch · 26/11/2011 12:45

Oh, Narod - is that definitely the case about the amazon vouchers? I've been trying to find that out for a while (trying to get something for someone in France, and UK amazon won't deliver there because there is a French Amazon.)

If you've been matched with someone who isn't in the UK but who is a UK expat, they may still have a UK bank account (I do, for e.g.) and may still be able to use amazon UK vouchers (I still shop at amazon.co.uk, for example, despite being in Australia). But I don't know how anonymous the matchings are - or you could PM your match and ask them whether they still use Amazon.co.uk.

Fizzylemonade · 26/11/2011 14:17

I offered vouchers and have been matched (see above) but I stated lots of different shops as I live very close to a large shopping centre.

I have just been told "vouchers" but no specific shop. I am now stressing about it. Previously I have said argos/boots/debenhams/M&S/ELC and then when matched been told a specific shop like Debenhams.

As my matched Mum has a skin condition I am now wondering what on earth to put in for her.

I have done the Christmas appeal for a few years and realised that some people put extra bits in above what they have offered and something for every person, so the children and the Mum.

I send mine recorded delivery just to be safe. It can cause problems at the post office when they can't prove they are the "Mumsnetter of the house" but can show they live at that address!

WinterIsComing I would provide the toy you offered then get a little something for the other child. It really doesn't have to be much. Colouring stuff and a bag of chocolate coins?
