DD who is 5 years old i never struggle she is so easy to buy for, typical girly girl who loves all things pink, loves dolls and has a great imagination, ds however who is 9 is sooo hard to buy for, i just don't know, he has no imagination so hates all the action figures, does not play with any toys in fact.
He has asked for an electric scooter, he is a very outside child and also loves arts and crafts but what else can we get him?

What have you brought? it may help to see other people presents for ideas.

mogs0 · 22/11/2011 14:05

My ds is 9 too.

He started writing his letter to FC yesterday and has put WWE figures and ring on it (never shown any interest in WWE before) any ds game and is still thinking of a third thing to ask for.

I have bought him a leapfrog globe (half price a few weeks ago and looks fab!), Logo board game, a couple of medium sized Lego sets (reduced), the new 'How to train your dragon' book, dart board, clothes, monster hand-tattoos, thumb print art tin...I'm sure there are more things that are lurking at the back of my wardrobe.

My sister is gong to give ds the dartboard and BIL is making a box/cabinet for it.

My other sister has asked for ideas of what to get him too so I will give her something else from the many things that I've already bought.

Hulababy · 22/11/2011 14:07

I have bought 9y DD a new digital camera, a Samsung multiview, to replace her old one that she's had for a good few years. I had a play on it this weekend whilst she was away and it's good.

lindsey077 · 22/11/2011 14:16

I've finished shopping for all the children, only the adults left now - that's where I struggle.

DD1 7y
Lego camper van
Bug collecting kit
DSl and Mario
Lego shave a sheep game
books

DD2 4y
Slinky dog
Ukelele
Leappad
zhu zhu hamster
books

They will both have new PJ's on Christmas eve, and a christmassy book & bubble bar from lush to share.

All other children are getting either bath toys, playmobil or books this year.

GrimmaTheNome · 22/11/2011 14:20

At this point - absolutely nothing!
C'mon, there's over a month to go yet.

shinybaubles · 22/11/2011 14:27

Have bought
DS1 - 5y

Wooden garage
Leappad

DS2 - almost 2

Little people racing ramps car thingy
Toy cooking set pans etc

They will get stockings, and a book each and dvd. Doesn't really seem like much, maybe I should get some more stuff. They got loads last year and I was horrified at how much I had bought and the amount that wasn't played with they were overwhelmed.

MorningCoffee · 22/11/2011 14:45

Great idea's I am thinking some books, maybe the famous five ones, i am also now thinking about a digital camera i think ds would love this, pi's are on the list for xmas eve. I have just remember i did get him a puzzle globe map i think it is, i need to go check as all the presents are at my mums.

Gimma i need to be more organised we are moving house on 3/12/11 so a lot going on i really need to finish this christmas lark.

I work in a toy shop and we have just got in a range of building sets- you get miniature bricks, mortar, a wee trowel, and instructions to build stuff like houses, castles, wishing wells, stables, all sorts. They have been very popular.

woopsidaisy · 22/11/2011 14:52

If he is into arts and crafts, what about a painting by numbers set? My Ds1 who is 7 really loves these, but the really nice ones start for age 8 and upwards.

AFuckingFestiveKnackeredWoman · 22/11/2011 14:52

peeriebear what's the set called? it sounds ace!

MorningCoffee · 22/11/2011 14:53

woopsiedaisy thats a good one, he loves drawing, colouring, painting, writing, making things he spends most of his time doing this, when we move he has asked for a desk for his bedroom so he can do all this in there.

Oh I like this thread. I have bought DS a pink Vtech walker (its his fathers favourite colour, so don't shoot me) from ASDA and am trying to come up with other ideas for a 6 month year old. Perhaps building blocks, a tractor and something really sentimental for his first Christmas?

For my nieces I went kind of crazy on Itsy Bitsy Bargains (www.itsybitsybargains.com/) and bought Anna Lou of London necklaces that were bow shaped and filled with crystals, their animal pens for stocking stuffers (hey they were 5 pounds) and candy pink tutus from Angel Face. The girls are going to be hands-down happy!

However I still need an idea for my nephew (9 and a gadget freak), so all comments welcome! Especially with my shopping frenzy ... I need to even it out.

They are called Teifoc and the lower age limit is at your own discretion really- as soon as you think they are able to concentrate on the task, follow the instructions and not eat the mortar :) The mortar is water soluble too, so you can either keep your creation or plunge it in water to dissolve the mortar and build something else.
