DD who is 5 years old i never struggle she is so easy to buy for, typical girly girl who loves all things pink, loves dolls and has a great imagination, ds however who is 9 is sooo hard to buy for, i just don't know, he has no imagination so hates all the action figures, does not play with any toys in fact.
He has asked for an electric scooter, he is a very outside child and also loves arts and crafts but what else can we get him?

What have you brought? it may help to see other people presents for ideas.

demented - He is a total sponge at the moment - I figured that this is tomorrow's technology, I don't know how to use it, I can't teach him, he needs to absorb it from the beginning and get used to it as normality like we did with tape recorders and vhs players.

But yes. I can see it is a bit crazy!!

MegBusset · 22/11/2011 22:17

Joint for the DSes (2 and almost 5):
Tomy Big Loader
Was also going to be the ELC Brambledale windmill but ELC have failed to deliver a month after ordering Angry so have cancelled. Would like to get a nice wooden castle instead but they're all £££ - waiting to see if the Melissa & Doug one comes back in stock at Tesco Direct while they're still doing the clubcard exchange.

Plus stockings: puzzle, Playmobil bits, toy snake, crafty bits, chocolate, slippers (the one thing DS1 asked FC for!)

Heroinahalfshell

I have a one year old shed just slobber on an ipad

Where did you get the pirate ship for the bath

heroinahalfshell · 23/11/2011 21:41

leftmy pirate ship is just a baby colourful one with water cannon and squirty octopus thing. From mothercare.

Re: the ipad - DS has never been a slobberer so hopefully he wont break it by dribbling all over it! He is very precise with his hands so I'm hoping he may be able to get the hang of it!

didireallysaythat · 23/11/2011 22:38

DS1 (5)

Harry Potter Robe (current bedtime stories)
Nerf gun (hate it but he seems quite keen)
lego advent calendar
stuff for a stocking (see below!)

DS2 (14 months)

I don't intend to get him anything as we have a house of toys (and he just plays with the laundry basket) but I guess I have to find something to put in a sock otherwise his brother will wonder why he gets a stocking and his brother doesn't.

I'm sensing from other lists posted here that I may be a little light on gifts here but MIL will make up for it (grit teeth and smile).

BTW - am I the only person who thinks that Santa delivers the stuff in the stocking (and by stocking I mean something I could put my foot in, not something that would make quite a good tent for a family of 6) and that family/friends give the presents under the tree ? I feel awkward at the consumerism here (I should add that we don't give presents to family members other than children and my OH may get a pair of socks if he's lucky - a nice pair though). When I discussed the cost of all the things that he'd like with DS1 he suggested we get Santa to get the lot so that "we don't have to pay for it". I think he may be missing the point....

leftmymistletoeatthedoor · 23/11/2011 23:01

Santa brings stocking stuff here and one present under the tree. Other stuff is from friends and family and thanked accordingly. Their stocking is not massive - is about a foot long and 20cm wide.

feedthegoat · 23/11/2011 23:18

In our house father christmas delivers the presents but he does send mum and dad the bill! Ds is completely accepting of this arrangement.

Ds is 6 this year is getting;

Sylvanian families Beechwood Hall and some furniture to go in it.
Toy story scalextric
a small cars lego set
A Lego starwars mini figure book
Disney store set of 10 cars 2 cars
Cars 2 dvd
MCFC pj's

We have been lucky though as most of it was on good discounts and deals so stuck roughly to our £150 budget.

Kellywestie · 23/11/2011 23:35

So far for our DS 9 (but 10 11 days before Christmas) we have got

Turbo Trainer (for use with the racing bike he's had for his birthday so he can train through the winter indoors)
Speedo (for said bike)
'How to build a combustion engine' - he's also car mad!
Cluedo
Pass the bomb game
Clothing
Rallying DVD's
Lego advent calendar (he's always wanted one so will be a nice surprise on morning of 1st December)
Voucher for Playstation Network

Still need to get a couple of books - Top Gear book of Christmas and something else possibly Lego Ideas.

He wants to modify his scooter so might get some bits like that from my Auntie for him for his birthday and perhaps Lego for Christmas.

His list has PS3 and PSP games on it too along with a huge list of Lego he'd like, a dart board and the Scalextric Velodrome (but think that might get boring) but most of that will have to wait and he can use money that he usually gets for his birthday and Christmas to buy some things.

Two things I would love to get him are the big Harry Potter Castle and an iPod Touch as he uses mine a lot mainly for the apps but also to listen to the music.

We are trying to buy things this year that he will really use and not just buying for the sake of a big pile of presents to open!

mixedmamameansbusiness · 24/11/2011 13:33

So far:

DS1 (6 in Feb)
Universe Documentary DVDs (they are the adult one on recently but he watched an episode and loves everything space)
Book - a short stories thing as he is just about to start independent reading
Colour by numbers tiger

DS2 (4 in Jan)
Zog by Julia Donaldson (he loves JD)
A Toy Story Rucksack
Numbers,countin puzzle

DS3 (1 in Mar)
Thats not my tiger book

As you can see after Christmas they have birthdays so I am trying to limit.

They will all get PJs for Christmas eve and planning a stocking or hamper/box under the tree with various bits:

Character socks
Breakfastbars/drink for openign pressies
a set of new clothes each to wear
bubble bath
dvds (cars 2 and kung fu panda prob.

We have talked about getting the older two desks, but will need to make these up.

DS1 has also asked for a telescope and DS2 would like either a castle or a garage but need to decide on either the desks or these for Christmas/birthdays.

DS3 poor thing is getting not much really at the moment but I cant imagine what he might like or need at 9 months old.

Dontbugmemalone · 24/11/2011 13:46

DS is 3.4 and will be getting:

A Hungry Caterpillar breakfast set
2 games from Orchard toys (the gingerbread man one and the bus one, don't remember the names)
Room on the broom book
Charlie and Lola series boxset (haven't decided yet)
from me and DH.
I have no idea what he'll get from his grandparents or aunt and uncle yet.
He will be getting a large bag of sweets from DH's work, which will make his day :)

blackteaplease · 24/11/2011 15:37

dd will be 2 on Christmas day, from us she is getting a mini micro scooter as her birthday present and then a christmas stocking with

piglet stuffed toy
the tiger that came to tea book
emergency vehicles jigsaw from m&s
peppa pig mini flannel thing
socks
and the tat from a peppa pig magazine that I kept back (stickers, crayons, mini colouring pad).

I think that I have gone overboard a bit but she doesn't get any other opportunities for presents during the year.
