Further to the which elf to get thread here, this is a thread for the collating of ideas: where to place your elf, what mischief your elf gets up to, gifts your elf may bring, activities your elf may promote, etc. Please share your ideas, and any related thoughts.

Some links from the other thread;

50 days to go, so we can use the next 25 days as a trial run for the next 25 (seeing as most people are thinking of starting on the 1st December)! :)
Ho ho ho, and happy elfy adventures.

It would seem so Grin

simpson · 04/11/2011 13:41

getting on new thread!!!

FreddoBaggyMac · 04/11/2011 13:53

Should we start with how we plan our elf to arrive? Mine's coming on the 25th November. I loved the idea on the previous thread of him coming on a reindeer. Anyone know where I can buy a really inexpensive reindeer (have already blown my advent budget on the elf!)?

Have already mentioned to the DCs that he's coming and have just printed out his adoption certificate from elfontheshelf.com to put on the fridge... may as well start building up the excitement and frenzy nice and early Grin. Showed the DCs the video with the song on youtube yesterday and I can see that "the elf on the shelf is watching YOU" is going to become a catchphrase in our house Smile

NoHunIntended · 04/11/2011 15:10

Oh my goodness, I LOVE the idea of him coming in on a reindeer! :) TKMaxx may be a good bet. I have this soft toy reindeer already: Keel Plush. He'd work.

And awww, I am melting at the adoption certificate! Gorgeous idea!

More authentic-looking reindeer: Nordic.

simpson · 04/11/2011 15:38

They sell soft cheap reindeers in the poundshop near me so it might be worth checking that out Smile

Don't have a printer so will have to forgo the adoption certificate Sad

I think I am going to steal the zipwire idea and have him dangling off a candycane (ambitious)

ENormaSnob · 04/11/2011 16:01

Will any elf do or does it have to be a special one?

simpson · 04/11/2011 16:24

Think any elf will do, I just picked mine up cheaply from ebay.

BlondeBatgirl · 04/11/2011 19:27

Alfie is going to give ds a 3ft tree, to decorate and keep in his bedroom! Grin
Love the zipwire!! Also thought about getting some of those crayons that you can get for the bath and 'colour in the bathroom'! Not sure how impressed dh will be though, he already thinks ive lost the plot!! Grin

Is it to early to change my name to something more christmassy?? Hmm

TheElvesSawBatgirlKissingSanta · 04/11/2011 19:40

Stuff it!!!! Grin

petitdonkey · 05/11/2011 08:13

Can I join in??? My Elf arrived yesterday and I am so excited!! Loved the idea of green wee that was on the other thread and snow angels in icing sugar!

I think that mine will be on the breakfast table on 1st December.

FreddoBaggyMac · 05/11/2011 08:52

Thanks for the reindeer ideas! Wow HoHun that secong link you posted is one top quality reindeer... I think in reality though I will be following Simpson's recommendation and checking out the pound shop!

Love the idea of bath crayons BlondeBatgirl!

FreddoBaggyMac · 05/11/2011 09:04

How about having him arrive on a lindt chocolate reindeer? Hmmm... proportions might not be exactly right but don't know if that really matters. But would it be a bit macabre for the DCs to eat the reindeer upon which the elf arrives?

simpson · 05/11/2011 09:29

PMSL at the DC eating the reindeer that the elf arrived on Grin Grin

Our elf is arriving on 26th November (the day we are putting up the decorations) he will arrive with an offering of chocolates for the Christmas tree.

LOVE the idea of elf colouring the bath, will have to do that!

NoHunIntended · 05/11/2011 21:58

Felix, wonderful video, thank you for that brilliant find.

Ok, my suggestion for today is for your elf to bring your child a present of this gorgeous little book: Baby Elf's Christmas - aimed at very young DC I'd say, two-ish or under.

yellowflowers · 05/11/2011 22:35

Paperchase often have good reindeers

Needananswer · 06/11/2011 08:26

Another idea is him opening presents under the tree! Dh is currently singing elf song, dds very excited that an elf will be visiting!

TheElvesSawBatgirlKissingSanta · 07/11/2011 18:21

Alfie is currently stashing lego to make his lego house and car!! Grin
I have also dug out some elf sized biscuit cutters for him to do some baking!

buzzgirly · 07/11/2011 18:28

Our elf arrived today! He is going to be called Jimmy - DD seems to find this hilarious. She wasn't keen on him when we were watching the videos so hopefully will enjoy him once he's out!

The reindeer sounds like a great idea, might do that if i can find one. I was thinking of getting a small sack and leaving it at the front door with elf, book and advent calendat in for DD to open on 1st December. I was going to attach the letter from Santa and BIRth certificate from website to it.

I think I will enjoy this more than DD, needananswer I also can't get the elf song out of my head - DH thinks I have lost it!
