Every year, Rudolf and co work hard to bring us our presents, even if they only bring crappy self stirring mugs. If we all pitch in to make them some reindeer food, a delightful mix of oats to fill their tummies and glitter to help them fly, we can sell it at £1 a bag for the charity of our choice and no reindeer will be hungry this Christmas. If you use edible glitter you don't have to worry about any Little Treasures eating it instead of sprinkling it on the garden on Christmas Eve.

Be careful though, glitter isn't good for birds.

But what about nut allergies?

The stuff I used is just coloured sugar, chosen for just that reason. The metalic stuff is not good for wildlife.

Nut allergies would hardly be brought on by a mix of oatmeal and coloured sugar, surely? No nuts, no sesame.

But they may be prepared in a kitchen containing a nut (me)

Actually, they were mixed in kitchen then bagged up in a living room while watching the new Grey's Anatomy box set. Next batch will be made while watching the box set of Downton.

Lying- you got me! But for very little outlay, I plan to make £400 for the local Hospice. On ebay they sell it for more than £1 a pack but as a business. I just thought it was a cheap, easy make with good rate of return.

Why not just ask people to donate £1 to the "local" hospice if you care so much rather than this ridiculous over the top fund raising nonsense.

Our PTA sell little bags of the stuff at our Christmas fair, along with tooth fairy nick-nacks and other bits linked to the magical beliefs of childhood.

How do you colour the sugar? That's probably a daft question but I'm not very kitchen literate.

Oh they always give the kids a bag of this stuff from school at xmas.It rains on xmas eve night and you end up with a manky glittery slime all over your lawn.

I have already made 100 bags with beautiful christmassy labels and a little poem to be sold at the school Christmas Fayre.

Colken-they sell reindeer salami at IKEA if you fancy that.

Vibrant-you can buy coloured sugar or edible glitter from ebay or from a sugarcraft shop.

Spider-the two spoonfulls of oats in each pack are unlikely to go all over the lawn. Try putting it in a flower bed.

Jack-so tell people to stop putting out birdseed/henfood and stop feeding their animals anything which might attract rodents. And I'll take you up on your kind offer.
