Last year we watched Santa Buddies which DD loved but DS thought was 'rubbish'.

What are other people watching this year?

Our family favourites are Home Alone, National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation, Elf, The Santa Clause and The Snowman.

Cherrypi · 27/10/2011 15:52

Muppets' Christmas Carol! Providing I'm not in labour. Then again that might help.

GetOrfMo1Land · 27/10/2011 15:53

Muppet Christmas Carol. It is the best film EVER.

storminabuttercup · 27/10/2011 16:19

Elf, the Santa clause (all of them), Christmas with the kranks, Fred Claus

I fancy nativity too!

AVoidkaTheKillerZombies · 27/10/2011 16:21

Whats the one with Dudley Moore in it? We used to watch that every year when I was little.

We have at least of week of Christmas DVDs and films in our house !

Earlier this year I bought 'Nativity' which is supposed to be very good.

I LOVE The Polar Express.

Magical.

nickelbabe · 27/10/2011 16:24

The Santa Clause, definitely.
I don't think we've got any others....

Maybe someone will buy us one for the PFB. Grin

Doyouthinktheysaurus · 27/10/2011 16:24

Won't wait until Christmas Eve but my favourite is The Polar Express...love it!

Ds1 is 9 and questioning the concept of FC a bit so feel it is almost time to stick that film on.....it even has me believing for the briefest of momentsGrin

ItsonlymeMrsDB · 27/10/2011 16:26

Doyou

Every year when I watch it, I always make a mental note to myself to find a bell with a tinkle.

Always forget, till I watch it again.

AVoidkaTheKillerZombies · 27/10/2011 16:30

And the Snowman
How could I forget that one

The original How the Grinch Stole Xmas cartoon version with Boris Karlof's booming voice and REAL Grinchi-ness, none of that Jim Carrey soapy version...

TeaTowelQueen · 27/10/2011 16:31

The Santa Clause - and then It's a Wonderful life when DC in bed, lovely!

JambalayaCodfishDIE · 27/10/2011 16:37

Nativity IS brilliant, its definately made its way onto my annual festive film list.

ItsonlymeMrsDB · 27/10/2011 16:40

Oh that's good to know, Jam. Smile

I have been hiding it since August so that the DCs don't want to watch it till December !

We need to get some new ones, we have all the Home Alones and all the 'classics', the Snowman FC, Muppets etc etc, even Lassie (has a christmas ending) but finding new ones is hard.

Having said that, Channel 5 are usually quite good at putting a Christmassy film on in the run up to the main event. My DCs and I have spent many an afternoon watching slushy, emotional rubbish !

olibeansmummy · 27/10/2011 16:41

Whatever's on TV/ been sky plussed lol [tight emoticon]

Doyouthinktheysaurus · 27/10/2011 17:29

If you ever find a bell with that wonderful tinkling sound MrsDB do let me knowGrin

My other favourite is Muppet Christmas Carol, that's a great film too.

LaurieFairyCake · 27/10/2011 17:31

Every year my MIL/SIL come round for tea (cheeseboard/snacks/cakes) and we watch "It's a Wonderful Life".

Every year, everyone cries.

ToffeePenny · 27/10/2011 17:32

Frank Capra's It's a Wonderful Life

(Yes I am that schmaltzy - and I always read A Christmas carol too.)

ToffeePenny · 27/10/2011 17:32

xp with LaurieFairyCake

you have excellent taste!

Dreamer234 · 27/10/2011 17:36

Polar Express!

JambalayaCodfishDIE · 27/10/2011 17:39

See, my DD loves Polar Express, but I just find it a bit odd.

glitch · 27/10/2011 17:45

Polar Express here too. Plus It's a Wonderful Life after DS has gone to bed.

RedRumElmosMum · 27/10/2011 17:46

Elf with the dc's and later on when it's just me & Dh - National lampoons Christmas Vacation Grin

MonsterCherry · 27/10/2011 18:57

miracle on 34th street.

Driftwood999 · 27/10/2011 19:08

National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation, especially if someone has not seen it. It works because it contains so much tension and expectation. One big, extended family Christmas, SIL said, "but WE are the Griswolds" Grin Everyone fell about laughing but some were a bit... Blush
