Last year we watched Santa Buddies which DD loved but DS thought was 'rubbish'.

What are other people watching this year?

Avoidka Dudley Moore one is Santa Claus the Movie. I made the mistake of buying it for £3 from Tesco and letting DS (2.10) watch it. Now it's on every day at least twice. I really didn't think he'd be that fussed for it. But no. He now wants to be a 'gnome' and help Santa in his workshop [hgrin].

The other one we watched recently was Home Alone. Every night before he goes to sleep he asks us whether we will forget him like Kevin's mummy did. Jeez. Another mistake, and it's not even December yet!

National Lampoon's is the best Christmas film. I want their advent calendar.

Driftwood999 · 27/10/2011 19:09

For young children, we would always sit and watch The Snowman.

KinkyandGhoulishDorito · 27/10/2011 19:10

I quite like Bad Santa too, but that's definitely not one for the kids.

RefereezaWanka · 27/10/2011 19:18

We always watch The Snowman - usually me and the kids on the sofa in the afternoon while DH goes out and gets last minute bits and pieces at the shops.

I watch whatevers on telly in the evening. My favourite thing to watch is Carols from Kings. Will finally get 'round to watching Its A Wonderful Life this year, too, I think!

Methe · 27/10/2011 19:20

I have never seen Its a Wonderful Life. is it good?

I am entertaining this Christmas eve but will probably have The Snowman on standby so the littlies can watch it while us adults drink baileys sing carols.

peggyblackett · 27/10/2011 19:21

Always, always The Snowman.

Ripeberry · 27/10/2011 19:23

It's a wonderful life is great. Black and white but makes you feel all loved inside Smile

ItsonlymeMrsDB · 27/10/2011 19:28

Doyou

Will do ! I was contemplating ebaying and just seeing if I can get any bells, and waiting till they arrive to see if they have a tinkle ?!

Or, I did wonder if you could perhaps buy a bell and ADD a tinkle ? Grin

You all watch DVDs on Christmas Eve? I don't know how you have time in the skivvying season. How come you are not rushing around cleaning/wrapping/cooking/preparing? What is your secret?

Anyway. In my fantasy Xmas Eve (which won't ever happen) I think I might like to watch Elf. Which is surprisingly funny. I have never watched National Lampoons and I fancy that too. Or maybe ET which DS (7) has never seen.

Goober · 27/10/2011 19:36

I will be at work. Sad

The day the tree goes up is always National Lampoons though.

ChunkyMonkeyMother · 27/10/2011 19:39

The nightmare before Christmas of course and then Scrooged in bed! Just bought Muppets Christmas Carol for £3 as well so will have that on at some point as well as The Snowman and Father Christmas - flippin love Christmas movies over here!

Methe · 27/10/2011 19:39

I've put Its a wonderful life on to download my wishlist.

ET, too.

Ormirian · 27/10/2011 19:40

Probably the Hogfather! Love it.

SjuperWereWolef · 27/10/2011 19:42

elf and the miracle on 34th street, the one from the 90s with the matilda girl in it then once the kids are in bed bad santa [hgrin]

ItsonlymeMrsDB · 27/10/2011 19:44

I also love Miracle on 34th Street.

I would love a house like in the film to be my present one year !

ja9 · 27/10/2011 20:20

We always sit and watch the snowman when bathed and in new pjs. Christmas eve morning is spent at a show at the theatre... But dc get a new christmas movie at the beginning of every december which they watch repeatedly through the christmas season. This is the year of Home Alone! I cant wait to give it to them!!

Shinyshoes1 · 28/10/2011 09:12

I've just ordered 'it's a wonderful life' I must be the only person who hasn't seen it.

I'm looking forward to it

storminabuttercup · 28/10/2011 09:18

I've just spotted the 'on Christmas eve bit of the question' I possibly listed too many, especially as I will be working!!

ToothlessHag · 28/10/2011 10:13

i'll try to get a copy of the snowman. we'll be at in laws on xmas eve so quite late home. If i remember rightly, its short enough to help the DC wind down before bedtime

TheRealMrsHannigan · 28/10/2011 11:01

We have The Grinch, Muppets Christmas Carol, A Nightmare before Christmas and The Snowman to get through Grin

tummytickler · 28/10/2011 11:57

Our favourites are National Lampoons Christmas Vacation, Scrooged, Home Alone and Elf. National Lampoon is the all time fav for me! I love it!
But Christmas Eve we ALWAYS watch Muppet Christmas Carol before church on Christmas Eve.

msbuggywinkle · 28/10/2011 13:10

Father Christmas with the DDs, then DP and I watch Love Actually after they are in bed while we eat Santa's mince pies. Tis traditional!

LordOfTheFlies · 28/10/2011 14:24

Oooh I saw a clip of the Dudley Moore Santa film.

Is John Lithgow in it?? It's an old film by the looks of it.
If it is John L this will be on my YY list.

And we've got Box of Delights somewhere but I've never seen it. Will have to watch it first.

KinkyandGhoulishDorito · 28/10/2011 19:53

Yes - he plays the 'baddie' BZ. He must have had a sore throat after it as he shouts all the way through.

Santa Claus the Movie is class. If you haven't watched it, it's a Christmas must. Although don't show it to susceptible 2.10yr olds who insist on watching it every day afterwards...
