DD1 (7yo) wants more playmobil for Christmas!

Due to generous and 3 sets of grandparents, Dd1 has the pm hospital, pony ranch plus add ons, camper van, swimming pool, play park, speed boat, ice cream parlour, plus other bits and bobs. She has given me a list which includes the school, holiday house, princess castle and clinic. Now even if money were to allow all this there is no more space in her bedroom for pm. However her little sister (4.5) wants pm too so I could get them one large item between them as they both play with it anyway. But I do feel like we have a whole city of pm.

Her Christmas list also includes boos, makeup, necklace, watch and fan! She still believes in Santa, so is confident in getting it all. (the lamb) :)

Thoughts please!

You can never have enough playmobil imo. I've got DD2 the clinic for Christmas and DS1 the fire breathing dragon. Also got the Christmas post office advent calendar and the dragonland one. I recommend the advent calendars if you haven't had one before, they don't take up much room as there's no big bits but they have lots of playability! You could think about the playmobil secret agents range which I think is aimed at older children. Also the Egyptian pyramid, we have that and it's fab.

FreddoBaggyMac · 27/10/2011 08:50

Why not get her one thing on her list (eg the clinic which looks v good) and one extra thing as a surprise which might distract her from not getting the other things? My oldest DD is also 7 and I'm confident she'll be playing with playmobil for a few years yet! I have also got her a few bits of lego (Harry Potter stuff - Hagrid's hut looks good) to try and move her on to that. Hope that all helps!

olibeansmummy · 27/10/2011 09:17

Ds is 2.5 and is getting his first big playmobil sets for Xmas so it's lovely to hear older children still love it!

Why not get her a few smaller sets that are related to the sets she's already got? Let her know before Xmas that you just can't fit any more bug sets into the house.

Or if you want to get her one of the things I'd get her the house if she doesn't have a dolls house. My sister got a Sylvainian families house at that age and we played with it for years! Plus relatives can get her the room sets and it'll all fit into one space :)

The clinic is reduced from £70 to £35 at boots at the moment and us also on 3 for 2 offer (well it was at the weekend on boots.com)

vonnyh · 27/10/2011 10:16

My 10yo DD has asked for more playmobil this Christmas. She got her first set when she was 7, and still loves playing with it!

Checked the clinic out, too like the hospital & ambulance which she's got. Might go for school between them. But where do I put it all. How do the rest of you store pm?

Ds's is all going to go in a big plastic box so bits don't get lost. But do your dds have too much to do that?

carries · 27/10/2011 20:24

Yup, hospital is huge, stays on a ikea tv bench in dd1 room with swimming pool, play park and ice cream parlour. Pony ranch in a big box. She has a"game" going most of the time so it is scattered across her not very large room. The thought of more is -arghhhh! But is its what she is asking far. Pathetic mum me! :)

Yes I agree you should not get the clinic if you already have the hospital!

We have it all in our living with big things tucked away in corners when not being played with and a huge box with a lid to throw in all random little bits.

stealthsquiggle · 28/10/2011 11:16

No such concept as "too much playmobil" .

Is the holiday home Santa's House? If so we have that and it's great - Mrs Klaus and her aga are much in demand for catering other PM events.

The house is cool - DNieces have that and if FIL hadn't made a beautiful dollshouse for DD I would be tempted.

Storage - FIL (again) made a play table with huge pull-out drawers which can house most of the playmobil. It was copied from this one

haggisaggis · 28/10/2011 11:39

The school is great - dd (9) got it for Christmas last year. It is teh same size as the hospital though. We are really lucky as dd has a cupboard in her bedroom shelved top to bottom. The school fits on the bottom and the hospital on teh shelf above - together with a plastic crate of all the other stuff (campervan, ambulance, cargo ship etc - we have loads too!) I actually fancy teh holiday house but haven't managed to persuade dd yet.

olibeansmummy · 28/10/2011 11:42

oh dear... sounds like i have all this to come! There's no room in my house already!

nimbs · 28/10/2011 22:34

we have the circus - which is lovely - lots of smaller sets to add on to it too - you may have to look on ebay though as not sure if it will be in stock elsewhere. I the children love it :)

carries · 29/10/2011 00:20

Hehe, I love the fact that some you want the pm more than your kids :). I would love the school or the holiday home too. Am reassured that there is no such thing as "too much playmobil". I think i need to put my big girl pants on & deal with the storage in a more rational way :o

DD2 (10) will assure you that more Playmobil is good, despite the fact that we have enough Playmobil people to populate a small town.

stealthsquiggle · 31/10/2011 10:30

Envy of the circus - it is now out of stock almost everywhere, and I failed to persuade DH and DD in time. We have now purchases a bargain-of-century TP trampoline for DCs joint Christmas present, so no point in even hunting for a circus Sad

BrianAndHisBalls · 31/10/2011 20:11

we;ve got the grande mansion. with the extra floor. and all the room sets Blush Its me that gets excited by it Grin Also bought the zoo for Christmas as a joint present for dds (6 and 2).

I bet you don't have as much Playmobil as we do! Grin We have an entire town (Lowbeach-on-Sea) of it in ds's playroom. We store all the smaller bits in boxes, but the buildings mostly remain constructed. There is very little floor space left in the playroom........

But ds would agree with the "no such thing as too much Playmobil" sentiment, and is hoping for more for his birthday and Christmas (he is nearly 11). He does play with it practically every day though.......

We have loads and loads of playmobil too and dd has asked for more for Christmas (she is 10). I have recently sorted most of it into separate plastic boxes. The buildings are semi dismantled, just enough to get them in the box. I keep the instructions in the boxes and it only takes about 5 mins to reconstruct the buildings and set up the toy. I am Envy of shelved cupboards though. That is our next step.

Tikkabillajive · 31/10/2011 22:33

Ahh it's ages since I've been on a Playmobil thread!

We have tons of the stuff too - favourites in our house are the circus, playground and little takealong princess tower. Also the swimming pool which we got in the summer hols.

This Christmas I'm delighted as DS who will be 4 at Christmas is finally through the annoying phase of just pulling the hair off the poor Playmobil people and leaving them looking distressingly scalped, so it's time for him to have his first Playmobil in his own right rather than playing with his big sister's - and his most wanted item is the Dragon Castle. I'm so excited about it! I think the actual castle is a bit beyond our budget so I'm eyeing the Dragon's dungeon instead and hoping that will be suitably impressive. I've already bought the giant dragon (in the damaged box sale) to go with it. Can't wait for Christmas morning! Grin

We have a wall of Trofast to keep it in (not ALL Playmobil but it's getting that way). I'm not sure where the Dragon's dungeon will go though...

stealthsquiggle · 31/10/2011 23:05

Tikkabilla - we have a selection of dragons (including the large one, also from a damaged box sale), but not the dragon castle. We got the dragon advent calendar last year and it was exceptionally well received.

I can also recommend Romans, but possibly for when DS is a little older.

tassisssss · 31/10/2011 23:12

I want the swimming pool and the nativity set this Christmas. I just to persuade my dds that they want it too!!

Tikkabillajive · 31/10/2011 23:15

Romans would be amazing! I don't think they're available at the moment though are they? It would be great for us as we are regular visitors to the Roman Baths in Bath so both dcs are quite keen on Romans!

Yes I'm thinking of getting him the dragon knights advent calendar - I've noticed it includes a skeleton which I think would go down very well.
