BUT I don't WANT to get the Moshi Monster treehouse for dd, its crap, small and overpriced What toys do your's want that you are loathe to buy?

DD has had all manner of 'homes' for small plastic figures.

Littlest Pet shop, Kitty in my Pocket etc...

I have done a bit of father xmas shopping, and am getting her an mp3 player from me.

The treehouse is £20. I said this to her, then she said,' but mummy father xmas makes everything, he doesn't BUY thing'!!!. grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrbahhumbug

I bought a transformer for my friends ds and i nearly broke it trying to put it together!!

The instructions might as well have not been with it.

amazon are doing the treehouse for £14.99 delivered, but the dispatch date is 1-3 months.

so i would have to pay, then expected delivery is 11th Nov- 10th Jan.

oh what to do. there's obviously a supply problem.

DD1 wants more littlest pet shop stuff as if she hasn't got enough already. But the worst thing she wants is a electronic rabbit called milky that does stuff (no idea what). Costs £40! No chance!

Yes -dd wants Milky- He is 59.99 in Argos- where can you get it for £40?? I am loathed to buy unless it is drastricly (sp?) reduced..

O god no don't get an animal. Is it a FurReal one? I got my dd the cat 2 years ago, it was fifty quid of unplayed with shite. And the mechanism is so so loud.

In fairness to the Fireman Sam stuff, it looks small and crappy but it is pretty durable. DS has been hammering his for a year and it's endured.

I feel your pain, both my dc have asked for the tree house, I'm not going there we have enough plastic tat, no idea other than more Lego what they will get!

DD is currently desperate for a toy pram - not for Xmas, just because they have them at school. She already has a pushchair but noooo she wants a baby pram. Sigh. Hopefully she will forget about it soon.

I have reluctantly bought a snow white dress for their dressing up box (main Xmas gift for 4yo and 2yo) - I really wanted to steer clear of branded/character stuff but she will really love it. She wears the one at school all the time. I actually wondered if it was worth buying the rest of the stuff for the box at all Hmm

Thankfully though she's not quite cottoned on to peer pressure/latest toys (we don't have telly ATM) and she hasn't a clue she can demand ask for particular Xmas presents :o

Just to say that I don't like plastic either but the Octonaut toys are the best! At least they are sturdy, there are lots of stories involved, and the OctoAlert can be detatched and come with you during the day!

i don't really mind the plastic tat, but she's nine now and 9 yrs of the stuff. I thought we'd moved on!!

The treehouse. she loves it. i have already spent a fair amount on surprises ( for me anyhow). Up till yesterday I was going by little interests she has. She likes the moshi monsters and has about 10. Just enough to warrant an abode grrrrr!!!

Milky is £47.99 on amazon. Think I was thinking of the lps treehouse which is £40.
She had a pony a couple of years ago and hardly touched it. And a dog that poops and responds to a flicker for birthday. Never again am I buying any sort of animal toy that does stuff!

My younger ones want pretty much everything they see on TV, or at least they think they do. I challenged my 3 yr old the other day saying "oh, you want one of those do you - what exactly is it?" - she didn't know but wanted because girls were playing with it and she likes things for girls (sigh).

TBH I despair as they already have rooms full of plastic "must have" tat that they have barely used and there is nothing I really want to get for any of them. On the hand I feel like making a stand and giving less as they have so much but on the otherhand there is the pressure and the knowledge that certain friends of theirs will get pretty much EVERYTHING on their list.........it's a conundrum for sure.

So to answer the OP I pretty much don't want to get any of the hot wheels/barbie/transformers/polly pocket/sylvanian families/wii games that are on their lists, but will porbably end up getting some of them I guess.

DD has decided she wants another Syvanian Family abode.
She's got BeechWood Hall and the School already. Conservatory is tucked away for Christmas with some furniture and little extras.
I think I'll ignore the pleas or she can use her Christmas money.

(DS who will be 12 in December has just accounced he has "no idea what he wants for Christmas". Thanks a flippin bunch DS. Make it as difficult as possible why don't you? [hconfused]

Here's a tip I use with Ds2 who asks for anything and everything.

You must want said toy for at least one month. If you still want it after a month, you can put it on your wish list. (set one up on amazon) Anything can go on a wish list, but DS understands we have a budget so not everything will be bought.

Gone are the days looking for a pink castle with five turrets that lights up, just because DD asked fc for it, only for it to be tossed aside for a pad and pencil.

Also family members can look on it and buy dcs something they know they want without asking.

I guess i should have waited a bit before buying some of the other things she's mentioned. Limited budget, but i could stretch to one. She just doesn't get the fact that MUMMY buys the whole lot, as she still believes in FC. I could just get more bits for 20 quid, iyswim.

hmm, maybe i could get other family members to buy it, or they could buy something i have already bought her?

last year ds2 was set on the 'green' (actually lurid pink) plastic ride-on motorbike in Toys 'R' us that was the best part of 40 quid. Every time we went in there he grabbed one and rode it around, often refusing to leave the store. My parents decided they wanted to put him out of his misery...I decided I could NOT allow them to spend this on something that was absolute tat and so we got him a self propelled wheely thing from the other shop, cost the same, but with added technology/interestingness.

Did he love it? Did he feck. He had liked it in the shop. He just needed that pink motorbike, and the poor lad never got one.

I would buy the house, PC. You will never fogive yourself Grin

Ds wants toe £70 odd Cookie dog. The main reason being he thinks it looks like our new bichon puppy.
