because we lost all of ours in our house move (I knew the attic was the worst place to put them) and am practically giddy with festive joy!

colour scheme is red, white and green. I need a fairy topper (pref wooden, Im thinking lots of natural materials and quite shabby) and all sorts!

They're lovely (bookmarked the angel) - I love shopping for Christmas decorations, but going to try and resist this year and make some new ones

OracleInaCoracle · 26/09/2011 11:39

ive made some cinnamon salt dough decorations with ds, but the move and subsequent loss of all old decorations have given me free reign!

I want to make a couple this year as well, better get started as they always take me so long!

Don't suppose you can go to any of the german markets? They have loads of wooden decorations there.

Squitch · 26/09/2011 11:42

Me and my neighbours are planning a trip to Birmingham Christmas market this year (though I suspect that they have a different agenda to me as they are talking about wine bars and long lunches - they'll learn). I've never been before but really looking forward to it - has anybody been?

OracleInaCoracle · 26/09/2011 11:43

belgo, dh is taking to the one in brum for our anniversary in november, I cant wait! look at this, I could make that for two quid!

I went to the Birmingham one many years ago when it was just starting up.

Swap the wine bars for Gluwien and you'll have a fab time.

OracleInaCoracle · 26/09/2011 11:45

oooh, gluwein! I love it. and hot cider with cinnamon!

sounds yummy and the button garland is really nice

I'm going to have a go at this - the socks shouldnt be a problem, but i'm not so sure about the dying - never dyed anything and it's worked

I have just remembered I bought a black Christmas tree last year. What was I thinking? It didn't suit our decor or the decorations we already had.

OracleInaCoracle · 26/09/2011 11:54

ooooo could I make these for the tree d'ya think?

OP posts:
OracleInaCoracle · 26/09/2011 11:55

lissielou, maybe or do different decorations without a tree. We have barely room for one anyway.

girlywhirly · 26/09/2011 12:08

lissielou, you could decorate some pine cones to hang on your tree, spray paint, or dab the tips of the ribs with glue and dab in white iridescent glitter for a frosted look. Attach fine cord or ribbon to hang them by.

Twiggy balls or stars look good too, natural or painted, you could attach little bunches of fake berries to them as well.

Tinkerisdead · 26/09/2011 12:13

Squitch your pin board is fab i'm def gonna try to make some of these ideas.

OracleInaCoracle · 26/09/2011 12:39

I love decorations- I like to buy 1 new one every year, though these days the children hassle me for the ones they like! Nothing wrong with starting early, as I find really lovely things sell out very early.

OracleInaCoracle · 26/09/2011 13:09

captainnancy, exactly!

I have a garland almost identical to those last ones you linked lissielou, i think i got them from John Lewis, would have been a couple of years ago.

Thanks TheDoctorsWife - I'm obsessively pinning at the moment. I doubt a fraction of what is on there I'll ever get round to making but I can dream :)

Tinkerisdead · 26/09/2011 18:28

I've decided I'm gonna make a garland of little mittens and another of little trees that I've stolen from squitch's board. After that, I dont know. I do have a christmas country craft book somewhere but all the santas look a bit too much like wee willy winkie for me.

I want to do red and white but I've got loads of coloured felt I should use up though.
