...what are you getting your 5 or 3 year old girls please??

Whilst I do have some ideas/wish lists, they both have birthdays near christmas too so am quickly exhausted in ideas and purse. I really don't want to buy into the gross Roman excess we mistakenly stumbled through last year and as they already have everything a little girl could want (what happened to the days of a couple of metallic polonecks and a barbie?)
Just wondering what you are all getting asked for? Inspire me!!

My 5 year old DD wants lots of lego and a fijit friend. She will also be getting Worst Witch books and craft things from grandparents.

Pigleychez · 15/09/2011 23:16

My 5 year old DD has asked for a DS and games, some clothes for 2 of her dolls, a marble run, a slide and swing set for her peppa pig play set, a double buggy for her dolls and that electronic secret diary thingy.

We will be getting her a bubble machine, the slide and swing for peppa pig, a marble run, the clothes for her dolls and the double buggy, a couple of books, some nice stencil sets if i can find any! and maybe some kids make up set or something because she loves playing with make up :)

WhatWouldLeoDo · 16/09/2011 12:48

I have a 3 year old boy but most of the stuff we're thinking of would do boys and girls. How about:

Duplo
Playmobil (the children's zoo is quite nice for a starter set I think)
Dressing up stuff
Marble run
Orchard toys - games/jigsaws
Role play stuff - kitchen toys, post office, school set etc
Audio books for the car

JohnniesBitch · 16/09/2011 14:24

dd is 5 and asking for playmobil. so will get some playmobil sets plus colouring books, stickers etc, hair accessories, shoes!!! (she is a shoe addict already and keeps asking for hello kitty vans or some sparkly hideous skechers light up monstrosity)
other dd is 2 so a bit young for the age you asked but no doubt will go for more little people sets. and some kitchen bits for the kitchen shes just inherited from her sister.

ravenc · 16/09/2011 14:29

My dd is 3 and has got a dsi, barbie castle, loads hello kitty stuff and baby stuff plus dressing up clothes, dvds and clothes so far

cjbartlett · 16/09/2011 14:30

zhu zhu pets, she's mad for them at the moment

CaptainNancy · 16/09/2011 14:32

playmobil
lego
maybe sylvanians if I can bear the cost!!!
books
art things

25goingon95 · 16/09/2011 14:40

We spent a fortune on zhu zhu pets last year for DD1, got loads of stuff and i think it has been played with about 3 times :( Biggest waste of money for us that was! DD2 has now inherited them, i hope they get played with more!

scrappydappydoo · 16/09/2011 16:35

Well my girls are also 5 and 3 I've so far got:
Each:
an orchard game
a puzzle
a minnie mouse doll dress up set
A mini stationery set
a craft kit

I've got my 5yr old a rupunzel dressing up outfit and a playmobil small carry castle thing and we're planning on getting her a camera as a big pressie

My 3 yr old - probably a playmobil campervan (starting to wean her off happyland) and a lunchbox as she's starting lunches at nursery after christmas and something else not sure what.

However I do need ideas to give to relatives and birthdays are just after xmas so this thread is v. timely thank you :)

Marble run is a good one, hadn't thought of that. And playmobil for the little one also a gooer. I think the octopod is going to make it into our house for dd2 (if I can get one!)and fancy shoes are a given for her too.
Bah. I love it and hate it at the same time. Argos are doing 3 for 2 by the way. That is why I am thinking of it now.
Good luck!

I've recently bought this marble run and this playmobil dolphin basin set is quite good value (you can fill the basin with water if you like).

rushofbloodtothefeet · 17/09/2011 14:00

Don't got with the possessions overload, it is silly when they have so much isn't it. How about taking them to a show as part of their presents - we're taking DD to see The Lion King for her 5th birthday, she'll only get a few small presents besides.

tassisssss · 17/09/2011 21:09

My girls (3 and 5) like the look of the playmobil swimming pool (the one that's around £30) a lot.

My 5 year old dd got a great bucket of lego for her b'day on Thursday and, joy of joy, she is able to build all the wee suggestions HERSELF! She disappeared for over an hour today to build, LOVE IT! Duplo's been a big hit with her between ages of 3 and 5 so I should have known she'd love this.

I have no idea for Christmas. i had wondered about a ds but I'm really not convinced she'd play with it much...

3 year old will be getting a toddler doll and possibly a big girl pram/pushchair (if I can persuade dh!!!).

I'm wondering about a seesaw for the garden but I'll maybe save that for the LO's 4th b'day in June...more seasonal!

DharmaBumpkin · 17/09/2011 22:18

Don't get the ELC marble run... We bought it for DD when she was 4 & it is rubbish. Can only be set up one way, far too complicated.

TessTackle · 24/09/2013 14:02

Hope you're prepared for my 3yo's list;
Rapunzel costume
Belle costume
Jasmine costume
Aurora costume
Thumbelina DVD
Disney princess tableware set
Princess cutlery
Toy story box of puzzles
Toy story colouring book
A smart blazer
Woody talking doll
Jessie talking doll
Doctor kit (to bulk up the one she already has)
Happyland Jolly Roger ship
Wooden elc kitchen

TessTackle · 24/09/2013 14:11

Also got the pirate ship for £24 instead of £30 in ELC today Smile

madlittlechicken · 24/09/2013 16:07

My five year old who will be 6 before Christmas is asking for sylvanian families. They really are great and amazon have bits on offer. Last year she and her sister got the elc mansion when it was half price think October time. They play with it every day and princesses and barbies all live together. It was all set up for Christmas morning with a bow.

supergreenuk · 24/09/2013 16:13

Speaker doc so she can play her iPod music in her room.

Scooters for both.

Films.

Mine are also near Christmas.
